this video I’ll introduce the charms of Nishi Chaya district a popular tourist destination in Kanazawa Japan nishi Chaya district means a geisha district on the west side there are three Chaya districts in Kanazawa the other two Chaya districts besides Nishi Chaya district are introduced in other videos if you’re planning a trip to Kanazawa be sure to check out the three Chaya districts now let’s get started by introducing the charms of Nishi Chaya district this is the entrance to Nishi Chaya district i will now introduce you to what Nishi Chaya district is like while visiting the shops and tasting the food there is a bicycle parking area here so if you rent a bicycle you can park it here first I’d like to go into this shop and have something cold [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this is Ninja Weapons Museum on the first floor they sell ninja goods and souvenirs and you can also try throwing shuriken the second floor is the museum this facility is popular with tourists from overseas nishi Chaya district has the largest number of geisha among the three Chaya districts in Kanazawa in Nishi Chaya district tea houses Japanese sweet shops cafes museums and more are lined up along a street about 100 m long it is smaller than the other Chaya districts but it has a different charm and is less crowded than other tourist spots so please visit it if you have the chance the popular tourist spot Ninja Temple is about a 5-minute walk from here so it might be a good idea to plan a trip to both Nishi Chaya District and Ninja Temple you can also walk about 10 minutes from here to the Nagamachi Samurai District and the downtown area so it’s easy to access other tourist spots from here i’m getting thirsty so I’ll go into a cafe a little further down the road yes okay yeah wow i’ll go into this store [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh you didn’t i stopped by Nishi Chaya Museum located across from the cafe nishi Chaya Museum is nestled in one of Kanazawa’s most charming Geisha districts this small but fascinating museum offers a glimpse into the refined world of Kanazawa’s geisha culture inside on the first floor there is a museum dedicated to the writer who once lived here on the second floor you’ll find a beautifully recreated geisha room complete with tatami floors elegant decor and traditional instruments once used in performances you’ll also see historical photos and artifacts that tell the story of how geisha once lived trained and entertained guests in this area if you’re curious about the traditions and beauty behind Japan’s geisha culture this is the perfect place to begin your journey notice Now that my tour of Nishi Chaya Museum is over let’s move on to the next stop this building is a traditional sweet shop Amanado Kawamura it’s famous for Amanado sweet beans coated in sugar beautifully packaged and made with care these sweets make a perfect gift or a tasty treat with tea the first floor is a store selling a monado and the second floor is a Japanese-style cafe where you can enjoy seasonal sweets and tea and in the back of the store you can enjoy takeaway manaka ice cream and shaved ice i’ll have a Manaka ice cream with a best before date of 6 minutes and a drink when you order inside the store you’ll be given a number ticket then go to the back of the store and wait near the counter for your number to be called this is the back of the shop where you wait until your number is called you can sit on the benches here or use the traditional storehouse to eat all right [Music] [Music] [Music] the light blue building in front was constructed in 1922 and is used as the training space for Geisha and as an administrative office it is designated as a national tangible cultural property this is the edge of Chaya district i walked about 100 m from the entrance to Chaya district finally I decided to stop by this tofu shop some of you may be wondering why I would stop by a tofu shop this shop serves tofu ice cream that can only be found at a tofu shop i recommend eating the tofu shops ice cream while looking out over the Chaya district [Music] today I’ve only introduced some of the shops in Nishi Chaya district but there are also other restaurants and bars so if you come at night you can enjoy a different atmosphere nishi Chaya District is a relatively small area of about 100 m but there are many lovely shops so if there is one that catches your eye be sure to check it out nishi Chaya District is also within walking distance of other tourist spots and the downtown area so I hope you will visit here this channel introduces the charms local food and tourist information of Knazawa if you are interested please check out my other videos when traveling to Kanazawa Japan please
