If you use Osaka and Fukuoka metros and Osaka monorail, you can just use a contactless credit card tap in and out. No need to charge any IC cards. (Just have a card that has no international fees.)

Is there an advantage of digital welcome suica vs digital regular suica ?
Isn’t the biggest reason for reserving a seat on the shinkansen your luggage? Large luggage needs to have a reserved space and that can only be done when the traveler has reserved a seat. Or am I wrong?
I’m thinking most people change hotels while riding the shinkansen to a new destination and therefore brings all their luggage with them.
I have bought suica card on klook and will have to collect it at the EasyGo counter at Haneda airport. So will that be Welcome Suica Card or normal one?
honestly, i don't think the welcome suica is such a revolutionary deal, you save liek 5 bucks.
you can just buy a real one… my mother even got a KitaCa, we didn't even get our money back it's a nice souvenir
also i think you CAN actually use them on androids, but… you somehow need to change the region. that's the part where we gave up and just bought a physical one. but we were really lost. i knew you could have a digital IC card, but i thought you need the physical first and then "connect it"… well… everything worked out at the end, so let's sum it up with a facepalm.

You can use welcome Suica as an IC card?
Just get the regular Suica app!!! Go to your wallet on your phone, click the + in the top right, scroll down to transit card and look for Suica. This is nothing new. With the actual Suica app you won’t lose any funds left over and can add to it regularly to build it up before another trip. This video is terrible advice.
Can you use a regular digital suica card as a touch and go for jr east shinkansen like you can with a welcome suica?
just used it the 2 week i was Japan last month. Worked great and was able to link into SmartEX for shinkansen tickets.

I have a question or if you could offer advice concerning the IC card, if you don't mind me asking. I'm currently in the planning stages of my cycle touring trip around Japan, arriving into Narita. So while I will have a mixture of Yen, and a currency travel card, I do like the idea of having either a physical IC card or digital IC card such as the SUICA as a convenient tap-&-pay at convenience stores as I cycle around Japan (I wont use the card for train travel). Can I use it for that purpose throughout most of Japan? I appreciate your advice. Cheers

I didn't bother getting Welcome Suica. We stuck with mobile Suica in our wallet. Swiping to pay for transportation, konbini, purchases, dinners . . . . all on one card. Thanks for the recommendation!
