Construction on the Ariake Gymnastic Centre is complete! 💯
The Gymnastic Centre’s design was inspired by the theme “wooden vessels in the bay”, with Japanese cedar being utilised in the construction of the roof, main auditorium, exterior, and the spectator’s benches
.
Construction of the venue has involved the most intensive usage of timber of any of the Tokyo 2020 venues and features one of the largest timber roofs in the world! 🤩
Another venue completed, that means Tokyo 2020 has now finished works on five new permanent venues, with three left, and all progressing according to schedule. 🔜 #tokyo2020 #roadtotokyo
