Autumn leaves in Kyoto Arashiyama

Arashiyama is a mountain with an altitude of 375 meters which faces the Mt. Ogura (Mt. Kame) across the Oi River where the aristocrats in the Heian period enjoyed boating. There are Yama-zakura and maple trees mixed in the entire mountain where Japanese red pines grow thick. You will find red and vermillion in green drawing Japanese brocade pattern which showcases the autumn of Kyoto. Including the area around the Togetsukyo Bridge crossing the Oi River is often called Arashiyama, and it represents the sightseeing spots in Kyoto. The scenery of beautifully curved Togetsukyo Bridge against the backdrop of Arashiyama dyed in Japanese brocade of red and yellow is very famous. It is another recommendation to have a look at the beauty of the mountains turned in vivid colors while walking along the Oi River promenade or to go around famous places where you can be surrounded by autumn leaves. There are casual restaurants where you can enjoy Kyoto cuisine and souvenir shops dotted around the Togetsukyo Bridge. Also, Arashiyama Momiji Festival is held every year on the 2nd Sunday in November and attracts many tourists from all over the world.
