2025 How to get Japan Tourist Visa from India | No Agent, Full Process!

Hi everyone, I’m Riya and in this video I’ll show you how I got my Japan visa from India. No agent, no confusion. Just a simple step-by-step guide from my own experience. So let’s get started. So first thing you need to do is go to the web browser and search VFS Global Japan. The first URL you’ll get is of Japan VFS Global. Just click on this. You can check the URL. It’s vfsglobal.com Japan, India in English. So if we go and visit this site here. This you can verify because there are many fraud sites as well. You will never know which site is which. So just look for some small symbols like VFS Global, Authentic! applying for Japan visa. Yeah, correct. Go down below. So here is the visa information. So based upon your region, select any of these tabs here. So I’ll be showing you how to apply from Maharashtra. So basically you can go to this button here. Click here. So there are two ways you can apply for a Japan visa. It can be either through VFS Global or directly at the Japan consulate based on your location. I submitted mine in Pune through VFS, so I’ll be showing that process to you. There are different types of visa, so if you. You will come to this page where you have to select which type of visa are you applying for. There can be a business visa, student visa, tourism, temporary visa for sightseeing without guarantor, temporary visa for sightseeing with guarantor. So I’ll explain difference between these two because most of the people that are here and watching this video. I can guarantee that 80% of them are tourist and they’re looking how to apply for a visa, Japan visa. So for tourist visa you can be either applying without guarantor or with guarantor. With guarantor is that you have someone who will be paying your expenses that is staying in Japan and he or she will be guaranteeing your stay during Japan. So those who have someone, a relative or friends who are guarantor and are paying for their stay or staying at their place would have to apply through this particular field. Otherwise normal tourist, no one, no relatives or no friends guaranteeing the stay or the pay would have to apply through here. That is the without guarantor temporary visa. So once you select this, you will get an overview that this visa is valid up to 90 days. That is the three months period. Go to the next step, next tab. In the next tab you will see the fees details or the fee structure that would be applicable under this visa type. So for Indian single entry visa would be 450 rupees. Apart from this 450 rupees, please do remember there in the VFS global they’ll charge you an extra cost of 800 that is their service charge. So this fees will also be applicable and in case. If the visa is rejected or not approved by consulate, then this visa fees will be refunded back to you at your original payment method. So there is one another point you can look here. If you want a Courier service that is once the visa is stamped stamped to your passport and you want the passport directly come to your home location, you can opt for that. And but a nominal charge of 550 rupees would be applicable in that case. So you can opt for this as per your preference. I prefer to opt out of it because it will add in a few more days to receive your visa. So I wanted the visa immediately so I didn’t opt for this. But as per your requirement, if you have not many days available to you then you can definitely go for this. So Let’s go to the next tab, that is the documents required tab. Here you’ll find two PDFs link. One is the requirement list and another one is the document checklist. We’ll go through these in detail. And then there is important note, you may have a look at this. So in the requirement list,Document. So this is the requirement list document. It basically contains the details of all the documents that you have to carry with you when you’re visiting the VFS global office for the visa process. So all the photocopies should be on the A4 size page. You should have a valid passport with more than two blank pages and you have your old passports available with you. Then please do carry them as well. There is a visa application form that you need to fill. We’ll look into detail of how to fill this visa application form in some time. I’ll show you how to fill this form. There is a cover letter required stating the purpose of your visit and day by day details of your visit that is the travel plan. So short summary what this cover letter contains is your contact details. It should had two section. to the visa officer, consulate of Japan. Then there should be a subject requesting for tourist visa for without guarantor, depending on your visa type. Then there is another section that is the main content of your cover letter that will state why you want to visit Japan, what are your travel dates, what is your passport detail, uh where you’ll be staying, that is the accommodation details. And yeah, that’s it. That is the short summary of what your cover letter should contain. Then there is a detailed itinerary. So detailed itinerary is your day by day, where you will be visiting, what you will be doing. So I already made my Japan travel itinerary of 15 days. It contained morning, evening, afternoon. All the three times itinerary of the tourist places I would visit or the off peak place places I would visit. So I had this itinerary. You should also create your own itinerary depending on the number of days you will be staying. It should not be a very vague itinerary because it can be one of the reasons that your visa may get rejected if the if they found that your itinerary is not relevant or doesn’t seem. To be of any valid places. So in that case please look into that that you may have an overview of where you would be visiting, what what places you would select to visit. You can have that, not the exact it’s OK, but just have appropriate details present in this detailed itinerary. Because if you visit VFS Global and they found some issues in it, then they’ll straight ahead either reject the application form or they’ll tell you to redo this particular document again at that particular time. So take care of this. Another thing that would be required is your photograph. Photograph should be of size two by two inches or 45 to 45 mm. We’ll have another tab for this in detail. What is the exact specifications of the photograph required? Then the next document required is the flight tickets and the hotel booking. You may or may not have this flight tickets and hotel booking. You can also attached a dummy one here. It is also valid, but if you have a valid flight. Ticket and hotel booking then please do attach that. It adds the credibility here and it reduces the chances of the visa getting rejected. So if you have a valid one please attach that. Then the bank statement is required of last three months. So please attach the copy of blanks bank statement of three months. ITR is required. If you are employed then NOC that is the non objection certificate from your employer is required and if you are self you have cell phone company then the proof of ownership is required. If the applicant is student or dependent. If it’s student then your parents parents financial details is required and if dependent then your spouse’s financial details would be required. In case of proof of relationship. marriage certificate, birth certificate is required. In my case, I was visiting a friend. So proof of relationship for a friend is to attach some photographs with your friend uh that was asked of me to attach the photographs. So I attach photographs as the proof of relationship. So these are all the documents that you need to carry with you. So this is the detailed document list. The next is the document checklist. So as we just now saw that all the documents required, you have to take the print out of this document and take with you to the VFS Global office because there they will take it or say no if this document is not present or if it’s not applicable. So you have to print this out, mention your passport number, have your signature here and. Yeah, you can have your signature here, get this print out and this will be filled by the VFS global member. You don’t have to fill this form, you just need to take this with you. And all the documents mentioned here, we have already seen this in the previous document. So this is just the list of those documents. Next is the photograph specification. So photo specification briefly we have checked. So this is important that your face visibility should be at least 70 to 80% and the photograph should be 45 MMM to 45 MMM either or two by two inch. OK, please make sure that this specification is followed because if not. If the photograph is not of this size, the VFS global member will tell you to reclick your photograph in the VFS office and it would be very expensive because there they charge. The charge is too high to give for one particular photograph. So please carry your valid photograph with you with the face visibility of 80%. The next is the processing time. So it doesn’t take much time to get your Japan visa. Mine came back in approximately 5 days. I received my visa in five days. Here it’s mentioned 10 working days, but usually before this you get your visa if it’s accepted or even if it’s rejected. In case if it is rejected, what you will receive is an envelope with. Having your passport without the stamp and if it’s accepted then your passport would be with the Japan visa stamp. Next
Next is the download form tab. So here you will find the visa application form. So under this visa application form you will see that you need to paste 45 by 45 MM photograph or two by two inch photograph as mentioned earlier. So you need to be careful while filling this form because this is an important form that is required by the VFS Global Office. If it’s if this form is not correct, they’ll ask you to refill this form again and again till the time you get this form correct. So please be aware this form can be either filled handwritten or digitally. You can choose any of these based on your preference. If it’s handwritten, please prefer black ink. And if you’re filling it digitally, make sure you fill entire form carefully because if it’s filled digitally and when you go to VFS office and some field is missing then you have to hand written those fields there by yourself. So take care of the details that are present here and please fill this form carefully. So first is the surname. So there are some details that you need to fill in. Surname, your middle name, given name, date of birth, place of birth, male, female, marital status. Nationality is Indian, former nationality. Fill in any ID given by government. Fill in your Aadhar number here. Passport type. Mostly it’s ordinary. Fill in the ordinary passport type here. Passport number. Fill in your passport number, place of issue. You’ll get this detail in your passport. You can check your passport for place of detail and issuing authority. You’ll get this detail as well. In my case, the issuing authority was the Ministry of External Affairs India. You’ll also have that place of issue may differ on your location. then there is a date of issue date of expiry from your passport purpose of visit to Japan it’s tourism uh or if you have any other purpose visiting a friend or relative you can fill in that length of stay in Japan fill in the exact dates you will be visiting in Japan do not make it an approximate date fill in exact date here date of arrival port of entry into JapanSo mostly the port of entry into Japan is Tokyo. Most of the flights from India land in Tokyo. If you have another port of entry, you can fill in that, but in most of the cases is Tokyo. Your airline name, whichever airline you will be flying with, mention that the name or address of hotel. So if you’re staying with your relative or friend, you can mention their name. Or and their address. If you’re staying at a hotel, mention that address here and the name of the hotel and telephone number. You need to fill in the hotel details here if you’re staying at hotel. So if you have not previously visited Japan, mark it any here and your current address details, your current professional details, name and address of your employer if it’s applicable. then that you need to fill your partner’s professional occupation and if it’s minor then mention your parents occupation if not then just mention NA here if this field is not applicable to you you can mention NA uh if you are filling this form for the visa with guarantor In that case you need to fill in these details, that is the guarantor details and the inviter details. And if you’re filling without guarantor, just you can mark these two sections guarantor reference and inviter reference as any. You don’t have to fill this. Now if you are going with guarantor then you need to fill this all the details that is the name, address, birth, relationship. And all the guarantor’s detail. And if the inviter is same as guarantor, you can just simply mention same as above. So here, don’t have much look on it. Just say no, no, no, no, no to all the criminal questions here. Uh Just fill the date of application and your signature. It should be a handwritten signature, not a photograph of a signature. Application will get rejected if you digitally paste your signature here. So make sure you as this. If you’re filling this digitally, make sure to sign it here using a black pen. So this is how the visa application you need to fill. OK, so some extra points that you need to take care of is keep your bank account balance minimum of 1.5 to 2,00,000. It’s required when you’re applying for Japan visa. They check the bank account amount. It should be of 1.5 to 2,00,000 minimum. If it’s greater than that, then it’s well and good. Keep all your original documents with you while visiting the VFS Global office along with one photograph, one photocopy. That would be enough. And write a strong cover letter with clear itinerary. Do not exaggerate your itinerary. Keep it simple. Keep it clean. That would work. So that is how I got my Japan visa on my own without any agent.
