A Food Guide to Uji – Kyoto’s Matcha Town #japantravel #japanesefood

eating only matcha foods for a day in Cotto’s matcha town until I green out first stop is Nakamura Tokuchi Honen famous for their matcha desserts you have to try their parfait you get really decadent strong layers of matcha and a surprise hit of some fruits like citrus that balances it out so well but these matcha soba noodles were kind of just okay can’t really taste the matcha in the noodle the shop opens at 10:00 a.m but you want to get there even earlier cuz we got there at 10:00 a.m on the dot we still had to wait 40 minutes i went to the butchery next door that has these matcha croquets it’s run by this really nice Taiwanese family they even gave us recommendations of what to check out in Uji crazy are really nice they freshly deep fried it for us and the oldest tea house in the world it was founded in 1160 so you got to get the classic matcha set comes with matcha dango too oo so strong i love it tastes like grass we’re now at the birthplace of the matcha terin just to find out that they don’t even have any cuz it’s a seasonal thing so I tried this other dessert instead and it was too clumpy and thick now the thing I was most excited to try is this matcha curry udon but when I got there they had some mechanical issues so they actually couldn’t make any food but I guess this is a sign from the universe to just stop eating matcha so go for duck burger instead

  1. I've started squeezing fresh lemon into my matcha and it's delicious. I think you can, however, get too much matcha in a day, it can give me that same weird stomach ache when you take vitamins on an empty stomach.

  2. Remember matcha is specially grown ground tea leaves, so it can absolutely give you enough caffeine to smell the colour nine. Be careful!
