4-Day Tokyo Itinerary with Kids | Japan Family Travel Guide 2025
welcome to tokyo our adventure kicks off with four jam-packed days exploring some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods we took in the buzz of shibuya and shinjuku stepped back in time at the shrines of aakusa saw the city from above at tokyo skytree wandered through akihabara’s electric streets and treated ourselves in upscale ginsa along the way we dove into local culture tried some amazing food and even found a few hidden gems along the way let’s jump into the magic of [Music] tokyo all right good morning it is now the following day after our first night having slept and uh starting the the process of recovering from jetlag how are you feeling uh not too bad i have a bit of a headache killian was up at 2:00 in the morning for a little bit but we managed to get back to sleep so we’re just going to push through today and try to have a normal day so we can acclimate so yeah we still haven’t uh we haven’t really done much we came straight from the airport to the hotel and we had private transport which i’m still glad we did that highly recommended uh so we haven’t even stepped outside the the hotel and explored or done anything because they had free snacks um free drinks we weren’t really hungry we went for like a some happy hour drinks that was included and then we just had breakfast which is also included so we don’t have any cash cuz we haven’t done anything so we’re just starting the what’s up kayen we’re going for a walk and we’re going to find 50 claw machines killian’s excited for claw machines yeah that’s all he wants and arcades so looking forward to that and snacks the hotel we haven’t even left and i have to say we’ve already had a really good breakfast and some good snacks good coffee so i can only imagine once we actually exit the hotel they got these things at the hotel lobby and these are included by the way for world of high members and then show them your chips show them the chips they have these like cheesy it’s like a giant roll of a chip yeah i’m sure 7-eleven has them oh my gosh they’re so good plan today is we’re going to go just explore the ginsa area a little bit and make our way to tokyo station um and then we’re going to figure out you know the train tickets the cards and then we’re thinking maybe go explore either shinjjuku or shabuya area one of the main two to knock those out of the way today so don’t really have like an agenda no specific places we’re just going to kind of go see what we can get into and i [Music] these are the options for the breakfast buffet at the high central got some pushido oo some nice salmon this has got to be excellent some olive oils fruit your bread i think those are your croissants some pastries some waffles some uh soybean flour it’s interesting got more donuts croissants let’s get you a little bowl of rice kiwi this is stuff to make a salad so these are some of the hot items japanese omelette kag roasted potato coconut french toast stir-fried noodles meatballs good stuff i think these are bowels and this is the make your own noodle station just take the noodles put it in the strainer pull them out then you add all your toppings some more items here roasted vegetables some sausages this is a croissant egg benedict that they make custom at the umb so this is the main bar area so from 5 to 9 every day there’s a hay happy hour so you get to have one well cocktail or one beer per person and it’s on the first floor this is what it looks like right next to the restaurant so this is the snack selection mini asparagus biscuits and some type of chips more like almond bars looks like protein bars these are cool snacks this is like corn cheetos this is like a giant cheeto pretty good some teas and then some uh some candies of course you got your water machine arcades and here’s your coffee station along with teas this is a hotel masc mascot so you can see he’s still sleeping but we hope to visit him in the [Music] future it’s our first official 7-eleven so jen’s getting her first official 7-eleven iced coffee you got it from these machines you just what press the button and the cup comes out yeah it’s a cup full of ice make sure you don’t fall for this trick always do in japanese the first 10,000 yen and i did one of the ice coffees it took me a minute to figure out where the cups were and i’m not sure uh somebody comment below and let me know are you supposed to buy the cup first and then make your coffee or make your coffee and then go back and pay cuz i made my coffee first and then paid and i felt like i did it backwards but uh it’s really good for being like a convenience store iced coffee i’ll probably be getting one of these every morning then i just got this tea oh yeah that that’s a big screen tea just to have something and then just for context i know everybody says get the card pay cash it’s convenient i just did it with my visa card cuz i didn’t have any um i didn’t have any cash just for context like that’s my first purchase a$146 for for all three of these coffee a tea and a little juice so this would have been at least 10 bucks in the us i mean not bad and uh i’m a points person so if it’s this easy to use i mean they simply click a button and then you just tap so to me it’s just as easy as a sa card and you’re getting points so i think i’m going to keep doing that and save my sua for like the train so i know everybody says load 10,000 initially i might load even less because if i can pay with visa i’d rather get the points so to purchase a new sua card you’re going to come to the jr ticketing machines and there’s basically this option card you’re going to press newa so they give you the option to transcribe the name that’s what we’re doing put your name yay my first official sa card and we got the so just so you know we got the so there’s two types of suas there’s the touristy one which is only good for like 30 days there’s no deposit but downside of is you don’t get your money back you have to spend it all with this one you put a 500 yen deposit which is basically like a couple bucks but then anything that you don’t use you can get it back once you turn in the card and those are good for 10 years so if you know you’re coming back in japan like in the next year you just keep it and charge it later so these ones too on a lot of videos i’ve seen where you have to actually go to like a help desk and talk to someone so we just got these from the machine uh the jr machines the one that’s labeled tickets commuter pass and it has a sign that says and so we did an option where you can uh actually customize it with your name and you give your phone number so that if it gets lost you can actually replace it uh it didn’t work for our son so i think you probably have to be above a certain age we’re just we’re gonna just try to get him a generic one um but yeah really no waiting we were searching and searching for like the ticket counter with the person and we didn’t even need to do that cuz you can just come to the machine right here super easy [Music] someone said me [Music] all right so this is a famous shibuya scramble [Music] so we’re here at the shibuya crossing starbucks probably the most one of the most touristy spots here you’re at an american company in front of the one of the most touristy spots here to people watch but anyway we almost skipped it because we heard a lot of feedback that it gets really busy and it can take hours to get in and i’m not traveling 2,000 miles to japan just to wait two hours at a starbucks right so we really weren’t thinking of doing it but it started raining so we were just kind of looking for a spot and we went up and there was like no night line at all so i don’t know if other days are like busier we’re here on a thursday got in right away the order came in within like a few minutes so much quicker than the last starbucks experience we had so overall i would say if you’re a fan of starbucks don’t be afraid come check it out i know it’s not the most authentic but i got to say the green the green tea latte really good here tastes much different they have lots of unique drinks unique snacks so it’s a good way to get acquainted before you go out and explore so highly recommend it just know that uh they don’t take the mobile starbucks card so and they don’t take ic card either no cash you got to use your credit card it’s really cool looks like someone’s doing the the mario kart rides got a spider-man pikachu that’s super cool i didn’t know they let them do the crossing [Music] [Music] that was pretty cool took exactly 1 minute and it just cleared up here’s what the vending machines are like we haven’t needed to buy anything yet cuz we were at 7-eleven but seems have some cool options okabo boss they seem to have an interesting mountain dew i’ve never seen this so yeah lots of options whether you want hot or cold you can use your ic [Music] card so we’re trying the uh $10 cheese cheesy cornbread uh i don’t think this is like the original place this was like a kebab place try it so i mean it’s got white cheese i think some of the others i’ve seen have like your orange cheese but it’s very very hot it 100 more yen to add chocolate have some dollars [Music] that’s good it’s a little weird because the bread is like slightly sweet i wasn’t expecting that i was expecting it to be more savory and then the cheese is good it’s not super flavorful so i’d be curious like if we try one with the the yellow cheese if it would have a different flavor uh but just for trying it it’s pretty good no it’s 500 yen which is like a couple bucks not a bad snack found some mexicans in tokyo yes uh no the noodles were really good it was our first ramen in japan um i would say nothing like special it wasn’t like a specialty like broth or anything like you get sometimes in the us but it was still really good i had the miso broth which was really good um just a nice creamy broth um but yeah i don’t even know the name of the place but they were quick efficient and yeah the food was really good and you could tell it’s pretty uh chilly today pretty cloudy day so some good ramen just hit the spot what’s cool about it is basically for a standard price like thousand yen so like six bucks you get to have a very decent meal and you don’t have to look everywhere this is a pretty standard place so well it’s not the best ramen that we’ve had like jen said right we’ve had some very unique flavors in the us but for that you’re paying like $20 plus top end tip plus tax and tip so for the value i mean just walk into a random place and it was amazing so yeah we’re looking forward to more encounters like that i highly recommend this place i don’t know the name of it but it’s here somewhere in shabuya and uh yeah really outstanding so we’re just walking by we saw this random macaron shop with these streets that were shaped very beautifully nice presentation so like bunnies like the bunnies yeah so we’re just giving it a try so there’s a pink one no idea what that is and creme brulee they look amazing starting with the ear classic what flavor is it um what’s it taste like i don’t know is it like strawberry or um i don’t know what it tastes like you try it you want me to try it i’ll try it here one of them tastes like strawberry yeah strawberries and the micro it just tastes like like sugar cookie it doesn’t have like a i wonder if the cream in the middle is what’s flavor all right i’m trying the creme brulee one um it’s good it’s this one tastes like vanilla and just the out very outside tastes like creme brulee so it actually tastes really like light and fluffy and it’s not overly sweet which i appreciate cuz i’m still stuffed from the ramen noodles so good little dessert [Music] [Music] killian’s first claw machine [Music] so we’re here at the grocery lounge we’re going to try some godzilla drinks look at these beauties there’s also some godzilla pancakes but we just ate so there’s no way we can eat that and then they have lattes with godzilla imprinted how cool is that where is it it’s like one of the coolest lattes ever right in front of godzilla’s head look at that is it hot [Music] that’s actually really good okay not only does it look cool but uh it tastes really good too so definitely worth it if you’re a godzilla fan how does it feel to be drinking a behind godzilla’s head uh i can feel the uh power this really is godzilla’s behind us you can only see the head but that is that’s the one hotel gracery at the gracy lounge i’m not ready then killian’s going to have the lemonade okay it’s a little bit bubbly if you try it like um just the top you get most of the um cream um so there’s two versions one of them has the og godzilla and the second one has the modern godzilla both different flavors and both drinks are pretty good usually when you have uh unique presentations like this the taste doesn’t always deliver in this case the latte is pretty good it’s very similar to what i had in the morning for breakfast at the ginsa highentric of course this one’s uh 1,500 yen which is a little bit more on the pricey side but giving the presentation the setting i mean it’s pretty good and then the for the drink it’s basically a citrusy drink with like the sweet cream it’s pretty good you can easily make it alcoholic if you wanted uh but it’s a it’s a nice touch so both both are good and basically you’re paying 1,500 it’s 1,500 yen each so about $7 and that includes like service taxes and all that so not too bad but ultimately really you’re paying to be right next right next right behind godzilla’s head i mean when else can you be so close to godzilla and enjoy such a drink that’s really the million-dollar view right here yeah and we were almost discouraged because there were all these signs about we’ll turn you down if you’re not a guest our understanding is that you couldn’t really go up anymore unless you were a guest and it turned out uh we got up there nobody said anything we were we were ready to get turned away but all all really we wanted is to go to the lounge but nobody said anything we just got walked in got seated and uh yeah it worked out i think most people would have been discouraged by the sign but i don’t think it was anything off so yeah don’t be discouraged if you want to try the lounge just just go for it [Music] this must be the disney section of claw machines some cool pokemon here i don’t know should i play this or just buy the darn thing i know there’s no way mom 100 yen for a chance to win baymax did you do it apparently you can also win a giant thing of pringles because why not oh my god oh my god no way did you just win that no way are you serious are you serious she at least she’s going to let you have it oh we want snow legs oh my it’s nice to see that here in japan they don’t make excuses about daily housekeeping it’s back to normal came back today bed is nicely done and they rearranged all our toothpaste look at this how cool all right so it’s now friday it’s our second full day in japan uh yesterday we didn’t really close out our video um we just kind of walked around and explored shabuya and shinjuku and then it got really cold and windy and killian got tired so we just grabbed some food from 7-eleven came back killian was asleep at 7:30 we cleaned up and got to bed and then we were up at 5:00 this morning so we’re up and ready to go explore for the day killian do you want to talk about uh your experience with the claw machines last time oh yes the claw machine was fun um a snorlax but how i got it is um i didn’t i was like “oh there’s no way i’m getting this.” and then it went like um um it went in the hole but it got stuck and i can’t believe i got it now we got to find a way to get this home so did you like the claw machines yes you think you want to do more mhm okay we’re definitely doing more so that i can get more pokémons to be his friend looks like eyeball is awake today [Music] i guess japan uh really is living in the future look at this so cute does your hotel in the us have a dog that’s that’s maybe where it like hangs out right so that’s so cool that’s his little house i don’t know if he actually makes it there but he’s got his own like food balls water balls wait what is he going to do with the toy will he grab it yeah he picked it up earlier drew it oh wow look at that he’s actually picking it up that’s amazing but watch keep watching oh look at that made it into any barks that’s cool that’s awesome that’s hilarious yeah that’s hilarious that’s amazing and you don’t have to clean after their poop so yeah if you’re looking for an emotional dog you don’t have to worry about messes maybe look into a eyeball i don’t know if that’s the brand of that’s the name of the dog but that’s pretty cool so the plan today is just to continue exploration today the forecast calls for sun it’s supposed to be really sunny so we’re going to take advantage of that and go check out the one of the shrines maybe try out some street food we didn’t really get a chance to do that yesterday we just had one one meal ramen and so yeah day two continue so let’s go this is the drink selection for breakfast the latte is really good today’s breakfast i’m doing an omelette topped it with some chili sauce some uh japanese style fried chicken bacon sausage and some dumplings very impressed with the breakfast here so far you like how you got the cuddly here get all your western essentials that’s chopsticks not yet so this is one of the coolest features i’ve seen in a buffet so they have these cruffles basically have this batter ready you put it inside this waffle machine and then it comes out like that then you got all these toppings here like nutella cream peanut butter syrup honey sprinkles what’s the end result amazing i personally like them with just butter to me that’s good enough but kian likes uh likes it fully loaded [Music] this is the cereal station so you have some uh chocolate banana chocolate flakes cornflakes and you got all your toppings here so you can really customize it any way you want so when you walk in here’s the lobby or the pre- lobby to the high centric then you take the elevator up to the third floor and that takes you to the main lobby [Music] if you do need an accessible option some carts have it labeled uh friendly for strollers or wheelchairs so just look for the symbol when you’re exiting subways here in japan you want to make sure you follow the signs so in this case you can see the arrows so you go up on the left down on the right some places it changes so look for the signs [Music] so if you’re wanting uh to visit the temples whether that’s the asakusa shrine or the senoji so these are two different uh buildings and so when you if you’re getting off ginsa line station as soon as you walk in you’re going to run into the kamadi mom that’s a different buddhist temple and then you’re going to walk through the street market it has all the food and you just keep coming and you’ll see both of the attractions just follow the people but yeah definitely get there early we’re here about 10:00 a.m and it’s already picking up [Music] what it says regular fortune says “when spring comes all trees and grasses are in full bloom everything will go good many will be happier in the future when you get the archery of the big warrior general your happiness it reassure wealth will grow large such as to have carry by hope your wish will be granted the patient will get well to building a new house and renewal so it’s a good fortune so i said when you draw a good fortune please take it home but you should not be careless get to bring it back you get to bring it home all right so we got the regular fortune so we’re taking it home yay so i know a lot of people doing this ritual where they would take uh what appear to be like some type of matches and then they would take it into this like circle thing and like let it burn and they would wave their hands almost like i don’t know like washing spirits away or welcoming luck don’t really know what it is but a lot of people were doing that it just felt good for me cuz it’s a little cold so try to get my hands close if anybody knows what it is let me know [Music] so after you’re done exploring all the shrines and temples right next to the one of the main ones there’s this matcha experience store and they have uh several cool like matcha lattes so we got ourselves the strawberry one so we’re trying the strawberry one aka i call it a mexican latte because it has all the mexican flag colors looks really good you can uh there’s three options you can decide how strong you want the tea the more grams the higher the price we went with the highest one so 8 g of matcha 1,600 yen look at that is going to be our taste tester try it like this and then we’ll mix it up um i’m going to try the drink and then the okay did you get anything um i i mostly got the green um all right you want to try again it’s good yeah you want to try the straw um the straw is good oh yeah i should mention you can pay 200 yen to upgrade to a chocolate straw i have to say i so far i taste the strawberry more than the matcha well cuz it’s at the bottom right cuz it it’s at the bottom but it blends really well still tastes good i just uh wish it was a little warmer does it feel strong oo if you move so if you move the straw up the matcha definitely tastes strong um i’d like to know where to buy some the trash game is very serious here so you got to follow the instructions so you dump the ice here dump the straw in the lid and then you stack the cup in here and that’s how it’s done [Music] so we’re finally trying the famous uh sweet japanese strawberry thank you oh it’s hard it’s like a hard texture good it’s good the strawberries themselves are like super sweet in addition to the candy on the outside really good it’s not too overwhelming you think i’ll like it no it’s not too it’s not like sickeningly sweet it tastes more fresh it’s not too hard no but it’s melting so so this caught my attention i noticed this uh melon bread i’ve seen this in stores before but they had three different kinds here one with whipped cream one with strawberries inside i just went with the plain one i could smell that they’re making it so wanted to give that a try very good i don’t know why they call it melon bread there’s no melon in it but tastes like a mexican koncha not a japanese version basically what this is it’s pretty good 500 yen so nice quick snack highly recommend it [Music] so these are all the options so they have some with red bean custard cheese or matcha so we went with one red bean one cheese so here’s the fish there is absolutely no fish in this thing so this is made out of red bean so i’m going to start with the head it’s really good it’s not the sweetest but the bean this is the red bean it’s um i don’t know it’s hard to describe but it’s like nice and fluffy it’s like um it’s almost like a pancake with just the red bean inside it’s really good so now i’m going to do the cheese one this is the cheese one okay this tastes more like a grilled cheese oh my god the cheese is interesting it’s like a has like a stronger flavor it’s not like mozzarella i don’t know it’s not my favorite cheese but i think you might like it it’s a little more intense daddy so i probably like the red the red bean one better so it’s a nice snack so we’re going to try this frozen marshmallow thing that’s been burned by godzilla dinosaur or a dinosaur is it frozen the inside is ice cream the inside yeah thank you you’re welcome thank you [Music] [Music] good so these are some of the options we have in okonoma okonomiyaki and you can get them with all kinds of beef there’s seafood and then we’re also trying some yoki soba and some rice cake and basically the way it works is you cook it yourself they’ll give you instructions and you do it all so basically you’re going to get the bowl you’re supposed to mix it and then you cook it yourself that’s the as authentic as a japanese experience as it gets like you can see jen you’re sitting it’s a little table i mean it’s pretty legit and then of course some [Music] saporo a [Music] hey [Music] hey so now we have to let it cook for 5 minutes flip it 5 minutes again and then we add some of the toppings [Music] okay after drizzling the sauce mayo some seaweed the masterpiece is complete and we cut and serve i got to say this is delicious kudos to the chef which was me so good job what do you think [Music] so that was absolutely delicious so the place uh we just came back is somaro so they specialize in okonomiyaki absolutely loved it super traditional so if you’re looking for something unique uh japanese vibes you come in you take off your shoes you’re sitting in one of those little tables so i mean it’s as legit as it gets the only thing is you do have to cook uh your own meal so you so you get to learn a little bit about the process absolutely loved it uh it is cash only so make sure you bring enough cash it’s about average uh,000ish yen per person and uh they even have saporo on draft so overall great meal would definitely uh come back again one of the things i appreciate about japan is that in almost any restaurant they have these replicas of the items so if descriptions are not good enough or you’re more of a visual person you can clearly see what you’re getting so in the case of a lot of visitors who don’t know the language it’s a great way to see like what the items actually are so i think that’s kind of cool they even do that for the beer i think we found one of the coolest vending machines pikachu i love how each a lot of them have their own theming but a lot of them is just the same item water tea some coffees so far i haven’t seen anything super unique but i love the designs of some of them like we saw a godzilla one yesterday near the gracery hotel and now pikachu they have all kinds of designs [Music] [Music] hey [Music] ain’t a hey a [Music] so just kind of last minute uh we decided to give uh tokyo skytree a try we didn’t have uh a lot of people recommended advanced reservations we just kind of showed up went to the ticket counter see what was available they do have a line that was about 20 minutes long to get in but we just checked online we were able to just buy the tickets and now we’re just waiting for a time entry so yeah it’s supposed to have a cool uh panoramic views of the city so we’re going to go check it out we paid for the higher ticket uh so that we can get the uh the second highest viewpoint so you have two options there’s the 350 meter and 450 meter so we’re doing that one it’s the two separate tickets so yeah we’re going to check it out and see what it’s like so you’re trying to do it last minute so our recommendation is just stand online and then while you do that scan this thing and then just try to buy the tickets if you can if you have good enough signal you should be able to buy it much quicker than the line that’s if you’re like doing things last minute like we are what do you think so massive right it’s huge yeah we’re super high up yeah really you can pick any window and you’ll just see a massive nest of buildings and you can see why there’s millions of people here it’s huge [Music] so now that we’ve conquered the 350th deck going up 100 more meters all right so we’re at the tallest place 450 m so about 1,200 ft and i final thoughts um first off it’s only about 1,000 more yen to upgrade so it’s not that much like five six bucks but i think i like the views from the 350 better cuz the windows are larger so i think you can see better here the windows are like a little bit smaller you can kind of see here so if if you’re trying to like film it the views are not really that much better and there’s less space to crowd in but one cool thing is they do have these uh you can do these photo op where it looks like you’re floating so we ended up uh they offer you like a free mini photo we ended up buying the photo it was like 10 bucks each i think and then you can download the photo so this is going to do it from the sky tree we’re just at the souvenir shop now looking at final things if you do want to take something back home one tip uh as a tourist you can buy items tax-free there’s a minimum and basically how it works is they’re going to prepackage it you still pay the full amount and when you leave the airport you get your money back it’s a pretty good deal if you’re a tourist kind of like in europe you get the value added tax return so very similar uh here in tokyo so overall a good experience again about 3500 yen to go all the way to the top 2500 yen so a,000 yen cheaper to just do the 350 meter observation which i would say it’s good enough if all you want is uh just to get a glimpse and capture some footage you’re capturing footage the windows are bigger on the 350 observations so it’s probably better as you go up higher the windows get smaller so it’s harder to get like a bigger overall uh shot so keep that in mind but one bonus if you do go to the 450 is you have all the extra photo shoots if you want one of the anime photo shoots you can do that otherwise uh also don’t forget to check out at the 440 meter mark there’s a glass floor if you want to get some photos looking down uh you can do that so you just have to go down like a couple levels so it’s technically like 340 m height uh so a couple options uh one thing i wish we could have done is maybe gotten reservations at the cafe because um you can get some really cool sunset views by the time we got there it was super busy you can tell those people are getting like really cool shots so just something to keep in mind they also have like specialty drinks uh so you can order that you can mobile order they have a cafe so that’s a cool option so definitely recommend it uh overall about us dollars you’re looking at like i think we spend 50 bucks for two adults one kid so not too bad this type of attraction at some other major major city would be like at least 100 bucks so for 50 i would say not too bad and you can even save more if all you want to do is go to the main uh platform which is the 350 m so that’s going to end it now back to the hotel so one pro tip while you’re exiting the side tree once you go past the souvenir shop there’s actually like a food court so if you want to eat something after the viewing there’s a ton of options then when you walk down from the food court there’s like a market and there’s all kinds of things that you can take to go all types of uh like treats uh and like little souvenir uh like little stores so lots of options it seems like a lot of it is like meant to be taken to go but some of it you can eat in there so don’t miss that because it’s a lot of good options don’t miss out keep exploring there’s a lot of things to do in the building besides the sky tree yeah it’s almost like a whole mall here when we left the gift shop we thought we were just heading straight to the bus station but as we keep walking we just keep running into more stores souvenir shops little snack restaurants so yeah this this keeps on going so yeah this building is not just for the sky tower this is there’s a lot more to do here and i don’t see a lot of tourists so i don’t know if they took a different exit or we took the wrong exit this is pretty cool you can explore here for hours [Music] the housekeeping was having fun with snow legs today they they did this to our two brushes look at that all right so we had a lot of fun yesterday exploring the asakusa area walking around the shrines the food market and then exploring the sky tree awesome views of the city uh it was such a long day we’re super tired uh so we just got back to the hotel had a chill 7-eleven dinner again it’s turning out to be a pattern 7-eleven light dinners it’s not a bad thing they have cool snacks so anyway today’s a new day so now we’re on the weekend forecast today calls for some potential snow really bad weather so i don’t think we’re going to go too far we’re just going to the akihabara area so that’s supposed to be like the tech area a lot more like video games so if you’re into you know tech that’s your spot yay so yeah we’re going to start with that uh we’re not going to spend too much time all day like yesterday i think we’re just going to be there a little bit and then we’re going to come back uh believe it or not we still haven’t explored ginsa so we’ve been here this is our third night now fortnite and uh yeah we haven’t explored the area there’s supposed to be a lot of cool shopping to do granted most of it is high-end you know we’re not bougie shoppers but there’s a few shops that are interesting that we want to check out plus some um you know some spots that i had marked down on my google calendar so yeah we’re going to try to come back before the weather turns for the worst cuz yeah they’re saying that it could snow at 5:00 p.m which is kind of crazy we’re not really ready for that so yeah let’s uh let’s get going so this is only my third day here in tokyo and i’ve already i’ve already converted to full asian breakfast today not western so pro tip when you’re riding the train sometimes google will tell you the boarding position for the fastest train so then you’re just going to match the card to the symbol so that’s card three right there door three that’s where you get on for a quicker exit we’re just catching our first glimpse of akimahabara area kian akihabara akihabara kian already spotted his first gig building which is they’re known for like a lot of the machines look at that right you excited mhm what do you so a lot of the machines are 100 yen you’re going to take your bills to the coin machine and get 100 uh yen coins if you’re a fan of go dragon ball z they got you covered here got all the cool stuff so these are hard to get out so we’ve had quite a few of these tayyakis but mostly in the touristy areas and they were 350 yen here in the less touristy area they’re about 200 and they have a lot more flavors so today we’re checking out the strawberry one they feel softer than the other ones the other ones had more of like a crunch on the outside so do you want to try it or you want me to okay it’s decent but i don’t love the texture that cheesy one we had yesterday that was more like a grilled cheese that was much better but this is more of a dessert style so if that’s what you’re in the mood for maybe try one of these but i think i like the other ones better what’s it taste like is it like strawberry cream yeah but it’s not very sweet it’s very subtle [Music] some of the interesting objects found in claw machines here they have nuggets angle that’s why you see now it’s going to just drop it back down oh these are all like little breads cool design so many of these buildings they have different things that you can do for example if you go up to level six they have capsule toys driven games level five and then one through four are just crane machines all kinds of different options [Music] so literally like all my childhood [Music] me another childhood classic initial observations the store is huge so there’s literally aisles of accessories of every phone so i’m in the galaxy aisle there’s an aisle for the iphone 15 16 17 the pro all the different variations this is insane [Applause] on the sixth floor of these school dragon ball z [Applause] [Music] games so after spending some time at yodbashi akiba browsing through the store which by the way is super overwhelming could have easily spent hours browsing so but it’s like a best buy on steroids insane [Music] yeah like all kinds of stuff all kinds of like shopping stuff so it’s like a mall within a mall it’s crazy so anyway i got myself some some shoes and now we uh stumbled upon this place on the seventh floor they have a food court all kinds of food options and we wanted to try some curry plus they have craft beer they have german craft beer so that’s what we’re having uh so yeah we’ll see how the food is it didn’t look the most authentic but we wanted some beer and curry so this is checking those two boxes so we’ll see how it is the curry is really good it’s like a very rich curry sauce with some cream in there and then the shrimp is like it’s cooked really well it’s fried on the outside but almost like melts in your mouth on the inside like when we’ve had katsu chicken similar sauce right yeah similar different level of richness on this one yeah really good though kian got some pizza i know very japanese resto sausage i have low expectations two or three it took a while to pretend but this is very flavorful there’s some spices that are interesting but yeah just it has a kick this is spicier than many i’ve had before it’s nice the curry was delicious on a bite of the shrimp just melts in your mouth perfect crunch very soft inside and the the rice with the curry just very savory perfect great for a type of day like today highly recommend it i had low expectations for it but yeah really good let’s hear the song [Music] you got this one if you’ve always wonder the cost benefit analysis of going up the stairs the japanese have you covered seven calories looks like we have a dog party they brought a bunch more how cool is that this is cool looks like hayatt is celebrating international women’s day some fresh popcorn and some balloons i’m not sure if they always do this but this is a really good deal so for 1,500 yen it’s all you can drink wine for 60 minutes got all these selections 1,500 yen is each one of them right now goes for 150 for each dollar so that’s like 10 bucks basically all you can drink that’s a really good deal for a hundred yen roughly 60 cents they have this cool atari machine you can play one of the classic games so to celebrate cherry blossom here at the higher centric they’re featuring a sakura gan tonic so it’s a special japanese craft gan gin specifically for the sakura season bloom edition with some tonic and water so it looks nice and pink i think it has a flower at the bottom you see that yeah so let’s see m it’s interesting i thought it would be more sweet but it tastes more like crisp and then you get just a hint of the cherry flavor with the ginonic it’s really good really smooth refreshing drink and it’s pretty and that one is for 2,000 yen and i’m trying my first thing of japanese whiskey it’s called the cheetah this one’s 1,600 [Music] yen you want cats being eaten by a shark they got you covering her if you’re a fan of godzilla you can have it for 31,000 yen has all these cool variations this is pretty cool it’s all kind of weird board mario games [Music] i’m in the first place first place i’m in first place it’s got the sky tree it’s basically 200 yen to play this you get to control it this has to take the price for the coolest grocery item at donkeyote pikachu noodles so for our final night here at ginsa we’re just having dinner at this uh beer hall that’s been famous it’s one of the oldest ones i guess in the city and it has three floors different themes and we’re just going with the japanese one so we’re having uh this yabusi dark beer and then we’re going to have some wagu beef so we’re setting up um all the uh all the stuff to get it ready this is some sauce some starters and today is raining here in tokyo look at that sorry snowing it’s actually snowing how crazy is that so for a snowy day what better than a dark beer 33 minutes wait 3 minutes that’s the end product the meat is super juicy has some vegetables inside what do you think it is in inside tastes like um onions and cabbage tastes like cabbage it’s really good it’s very different but it’s super tender when you dip it into some of the oyster sauce it’s really nice so the wagu was absolutely delicious could have definitely used more meat it was only like six pieces that we split so it wasn’t the most filling but it was nice now we’re going to battle this snow try to make it back in one piece if you’re a fan of jaws and like to take baths this is one of the coolest souvenirs that i’ve ever seen so there’s this bath bomb and basically you dump it and you can imagine the color that it turns out this is one of my favorite items i’m going to miss you cruffles had too many of them so if you have kids here in namiki 667 breakfast they do have specialty plates plastic plates for them that way they don’t break the glass how cool looks like the highest dog has some company today yeah so these dogs actually react to being petted so they’ll start wagging their tail they’ll move their head they love it you can bet the real one too all right i have to one last time um when we’re ready [Music] so we had a lot of fun yesterday exploring exploring akihabara the day went by really quick we were just walking around went to different like random uh video game stores claw machines arcades shopping shopping it’s very cool how they have this setup where like in many buildings you just go in and they have these claw machines and there’s video games and then there’s more style video games just all kinds of entertainments and we could have spent all day there yeah killian loved it and it was interesting to see like grown adults 40 year old men just having fun where in the us i feel like that would typically be most people by 40 like you’re out of that phase right it’s mostly like teenagers doing it but they were having fun though it’s all it’s all ages i even saw like some video games that i hadn’t played since i was a child like king of fighters 94 i haven’t like that was my childhood game and i got to play that again so it was it was it was pretty cool and then we ended up by going to the the electronic store i forget the name yucky yucky something yeah but it was like a huge like a best buy on steroids crazy like if best buy married circuit city and they but then they also had a toy store so imagine if there’s like a best buy circuit city and then they also have a toys r us and then there’s also like a shoe store a uniqlo there’s a daiso which is kind of just like a random almost like a dollar store type feel and then there’s a huge food court at the top too so we actually ate lunch there and the food was really good yeah we we were uh we were drawn in by the the german beer on draft and ended up having some some decent uh curry and then yeah as far as the shopping i’m not a big shopper but um i do like to run and i’ve been looking for running shoes and i noticed the sakconis the as6 uh very affordable here so i picked up myself of uh some some new pair of shoes uh one one pro tip if you are going to do some shopping um anything over 5,500 yen make sure to bring your passport so you get your tourist tax-free deduction or discount it’s a it’s 10% uh i didn’t have my passport with me so they wouldn’t honor it uh try showing my passport card didn’t work so make sure you bring your passport if you know you’re going to be shopping but just keep in mind it has to be above 5,000 yen it’s 5,500 something like that yeah and then yeah after exploring uh the akahu akahubara akihabara area we just came back and just explored the ginsa area just did some shopping so we visited the flagship and what was the name of those store unilo unilo store donkeyote we just kind of hung around there’s a toy store i forget the name of it uh we’ll put it below but right next to it yeah cool toy store too and then uh we just had dinner at uh this uh ginsa beer hole which is like a classic one of the oldest beer holes uh here in ginsa it has three levels uh i wish we would have gone to the first level which is the more classic we ended up in the third one which had more traditional japanese food yeah the food is probably better in the the top floor but the atmosphere was a little different than like your beer hall yeah it was more mellow but uh but yeah we had like a wagu beef platter it was was amazing good yeah uh just wish you know wish the beef the portion beef was was better it was it was what i call a japanese balance meal right you get a lot of veggies a lot of sides so it’s not all about just to meet uh but it was really good and then it started snowing it’s crazy the rain turned into snow rain turned into snow i i didn’t i didn’t think the forecast called for snow but yeah it was it was pouring pouring down it was it’s kind of cool seeing it uh from inside obviously not outside so yeah and then today uh basically we’re going to reposition so this is going to end it for us at ginsa now we’re heading towards tokyo bay we’re going to be staying there four nights because uh now we’re going to the disney bubble right yes very excited so we’re going to do three days at the disney parks uh two days at uh disney sea and one day at tokyo disneyland yes and for this uh we’re staying at uh you know if you know if you’ve been following us you know we like staying at hyatt so we’re doing the hayatt regency bay uh super affordable so yeah we’re going to check out that property review it but supposed to be very close to the park easy to get to we have a free shuttle free shuttle so yeah we’re going to we’re going to start making our way there uh i think we’re going to take we’re going to try to take the train uh but yeah we’ll share that experience too if you’re looking for the closest 7-eleven as you exit the centric you’re going to turn left [Music] you’re going to turn left there’s the rolex store and then you just keep going to the main intersection so now as you approach the main intersection you’re going to see the sign for 7-eleven but that’s not it you keep going and you’re going to turn left on the street there’s another entrance and that’s how you enter the ginsa station so right next to coach so you go past coach and there it [Music] is station so now when you’re going down the elevator you’ll see the 7-eleven sign again go down a few set of [Music] stairs 1 2 3 and there it is 7-eleven all right so this is uh our 7-eleven stash show some of the items that we got no mommy so i’ve heard a lot of great things about this one these are the pancakes with maple syrup and margarine and it’s all inside famous strawberry sandwich some chips green smoothie some dodgers prime so this is probably uh because of the whole world series that they’re doing dodgers and cubs here in tokyo this is oh this is from downstairs we didn’t get that at 7-eleven then we have an egg sandwich kayen has a strawberry smoothie try it some grapes correct and then a pizza bun and then all this just for reference 1,900 yen it’s about 2,000 yen 1,500 yen is $10 we’re looking about $13 for all these snacks it’s not bad this is basically our lunch very typical here at [Music] tokyo if you’re traveling as a family look for these signs this indicates priority seating for elderly those with kids those with mobility issues so if you’re traveling with those that need it keep that in mind if [Music] you’re traveling with a stroller you want to look for these signs those signs right there the platform station that means they’ll have priority [Music] seat heat heat [Music] heat heat [Music]

So funny, I was my friend who just came back from Japan this week. I asked him about the melon pan, because he brought a pancake snack from 7-11 to try. I explained what the melon pan was the exact way you did, lol. Taiyaki with the red bean was my favorite Japanese snack as a kid. When your wife said the taiyaki wasn’t very sweet, that is Japanese desserts in general, sweet but not very sweet, subtle was a perfect description. Btw, don’t worry about pronouncing Japanese words correctly, just making the effort. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 to your son with the crane game skills. I hope you had a great time.
