Western Australia’s fast-growing health and medical life sciences sector is being showcased on the global stage at Expo 2025 Osaka during Health and MedTech Week from 24 to 27 June.
The WA Government, in partnership with leading medical research and biotech organisations, is promoting the State’s strengths in advanced therapeutics, personalised medicine and biomanufacturing at the Australian Pavilion.
The Pavilion attracts more than 12,000 visitors per day and offers WA a prime opportunity to engage with investors and international partners.
Participating organisations include RNA therapy specialist Black Swan Biotech, anti-microbial drug developer Lixa, the Personalised Medicine Centre – a Murdoch University and Perron Institute collaboration – and Royal Perth Hospital’s Cell and Tissue Therapies WA unit.
“Expo 2025 Osaka provides a global platform to showcase Western Australia’s strengths in health and medical life sciences,” said Premier Roger Cook. “From cutting-edge therapeutics to rare disease research, WA is positioning itself as a hub of innovation and investment.”
The showcase includes three WA Innovator Roundtable events and a seminar tackling global health challenges. WA’s presentation aligns with Commonwealth-led activities under the theme Chasing the Sun, reflecting WA’s sunny climate and strategic Asia-facing time zone.
The State’s health and medtech week campaign is part of a broader economic development effort to attract investment into WA’s innovation sectors. Health and medical life sciences is one of several priority sectors being highlighted during the six-month Expo, which has already attracted over two million visitors since opening in April.
“The WA Government is committed to supporting local health and medical life sciences sector by fostering research and development, attracting investment, and helping local innovations reach global markets,” Premier Cook added.
