it’s our last day in japan and today we are exploring the city of kobe this port city is known for its elegant, western-style architecture and for having the best steak in all of japan today’s breakfast: mackerel from nara taking the train to kobe city today the train from osaka to kobe takes about 30 minutes kobe has an anpanman museum it’s our first time at the kobe station think we’re going to try a kobe croquette went for the classic beef and potato croquette Β₯198 each ($1) found a seat outside croquettes from kobe nice crunch with a creamy center the cooked lunch sets at the station looked so good this port city was one of the first to trade with the west which its explains its western influences there’s a lot of subway art in kobe it’s also the first time that i’ve seen a piano at the subway station kobe’s got a lot of nice architecture which is partly the reason why we’re here a lot of very interesting details in kobe our first stop: kobe beef curry for lunch so this guy is featured in brutus magazine we didn’t even know he was featured it says that he simmers the curry for 7 hours in a 45 liter pot it’s amazing so it’s a western-style curry that originated in 2013 kobe beef hambagu curry for ralph classic hambagu with a demi-glace sauce for sam let’s try this curry mmhmm i’m so happy my first kobe beef was this special hambagu curry check out this super juicy, hambagu tender and well-seasoned even without the sauce adjusts mic arigato so this beef patty is seasoned very well and it’s amazing to eat it’s so juicy what do we have here the beef curry is already very soft it just goes well together can’t believe i have the best of both worlds here beef curry and hambagu kobe beef paradise ralph enjoyed it so much he bought their beefy curry box have a nice day there are quite a few cafes to pick from in the area they have interesting uniforms in this city a military surplus shop there’s a similar surplus shop in ueno that has these bags found a vintage jewelry shop on the second floor of this building @nottooshabbyantique antique beads turned rings love the vibrant colors of these antique glass beads ralph’s at a self-pay secondhand shop on another floor this one’s kind of interesting there’s nobody at the store why’s that bag swinging though? it’s a vendo machine / secondhand store the store is monitored with a security camera and you pay using the honesty system love the vintage font lots of shops peppered throughout this chill neighborhood second coffee shop of the day you can try any of the roasts on the menu japanese coffee accessories are always so well-designed a fruity coldbrew and a latte there’s a popular bake shop on the second floor took out a few to enjoy at home this beloved shotengai (shopping street) is over 100 years old it has a very charming, old neighborhood atmosphere the motomachi in kobe, the shotengai has been around since 1874 it didn’t used to have a cover (roof) so it’s been 150 years of shotengai-ing since this is a port, a lot of places are nautical themed you can even find navy-wear here you’re looking extra japanese for some reason this is a furniture shop but they have a dinosaur welcome to kobe η₯žζˆΈεΈ‚γΈγ‚ˆγ†γ“γ many of these shops have a long history in this shotengai this one sells beautiful antique glass lamps above this burger shop is a cat cafe this kobe beef burger looks so good lots of interesting kissaten (traditional coffee shops) grabbing dessert at one of kobe’s most popular cafes nishimura is popular among locals for their fresh roasted coffee and for their classic kissaten desserts we ordered their cheesecake signature strawberry cream parfait and coffee jelly surprised by how good this strawberry cream parfait is there’s a hidden layer of shaved strawberry ice 10/10 dessert break enjoyed seeing traditional rice cracker shops like this old is gold price tags that make your wallet scream they even have a vintage shop here a secondhand camera shop that’s a curry box in ralph’s bag lol there’s something very elegant about this city you can see a lot of european influences danton is a historic french workwear brand with a cult following in japan our first time seeing a standalone store i got the shirt but i regret not getting the pants i got this oxford because of the pockets bring your passports for the tax free discount now for the main event in kobe ikuta road in sannomiya is known for its nightlife and for its kobe beef restaurants since it’s our last night, we decided to treat ourselves royal mouriya has been serving kobe beef for 140 years the precision that goes into cooking each sliver of garlic appetizer of beef carpaccio kobe beef is prized for its exquisite marbling each steak is carefully picked to ensure the highest quality soup made with kobe beef stock the fat is carefully separated and saved for later it’s a treat to see how much care goes into perfectly cooking each piece fried garlic, salt, peppers and wasabi the steak is served little by little so that it’s always hot and fresh very tender, buttery meat the fat is saved for last and served crisp fresh vegetables are also slow cooked on the teppanyaki finally, the steak fat is used to top fresh beansprouts a delicious end to our day in kobe lol at our applause sfx πŸ˜‚ such a lively area at night a fun looking natural wine bar goodnight, kobe pet food souvenirs for our cat lol finally back in osaka last morning here gonna miss our onigiri breakfasts like this grilled salmon and tamago goodbye to our osaka hotel so we got to the tennoji station early and we are leaving our luggage at these coin lockers so there are different prices the smaller ones are Β₯400 – Β₯500 and Β₯700 for the big storage locker put in your baggage into an empty locker and pull down the locking lever using up our last coins here now we can go for one last walk around osaka we wanted to sit in the park for lunch there’s a grocery at tennoji park where you can buy food for a picnic this is crazy, i’ve never see strawberries this big finally going to try these white strawberries sushi for lunch perfect picnic drinks they even have indian food here and japanese snacks that make great souvenirs took these tomato curries home using the cabbage tote i got from a gachapon machine our chill little park picnic lots of families have picnics at tennoji since there is a zoo here nice to have spend time in nature before our flight there were a few japanese herons at the park found a small shrine on the way back to the station taking some pastries home still hungry from that walk, so we had some chicken and veggies sleepy train ride to the airport back to where our trip first started grabbing dinner at this cafeteria-style food court stall all our favorite japanese comfort food it’s been nice, kansai tired but happy hope to see you again soon thank you for watching
