Today, I will be introducing Mihama Cape Park. This park is located at the foot of Mihama Cape in Heda, Nishi-Izu.
The entrance to Mihama Cape Park is marked by the “Toda Salt no kai” on the left and the “Mihama Cape” monument on the right.
Beyond the entrance, Mihama Beach stretches out.
Admission and parking at Mihama Cape Park are usually free, but there is a parking fee during the summer swimming season.
Mihama Cape Park boasts a variety of attractions, including a swimming beach, the Heda Lighthouse, the “Imanuki Forest” with its diverse flora, a pine grove, the Morokuchi Shrine, and the “Shiokaze Bench,” a seaside promenade on the Suruga Bay side. Mihama Cape is an ideal destination for a leisurely stroll.
The sunset over Nishi-Izu, which can be seen from the “Shiokaze Bench,” is one of the most beautiful in Japan. The view of Mount Fuji across Suruga Bay from Heda Lighthouse, and the view of Mount Fuji through the torii gate of Morokuchi Shrine at Kofunegahama Pier are truly magnificent. Many tourists visit this power spot to take photos.
Mihama Cape is a habitat of Imanuki trees, and the forest there is named “Imanuki Forest.” The over 300-year-old “Neagari no Matsu” (upside-down pine) is particularly impressive with its unique appearance.
Mihama Cape attracts many tourists throughout the year, but it’s also a hidden gem for anglers, campers, and those who enjoy overnight stays in their cars.
Heda Port, bustling with many fishing boats, is famous not only for its numerous regular fishing boats but also for offering fishing from rare “moored boats.”
