Winter in Japan doesn’t get enough credit! My favourite thing to do in Japan is go to onsen (hot springs), so naturally going to hot spring towns are some of my favourite trips!
Kusatsu Onsen is one of the oldest and most famous onsen towns in Japan, and definitely lives up to its reputation. About a 4 hour bus ride from Tokyo, it’s the perfect winter getaway. Be sure to book a ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) to get the full experience!
