Hina-Matsuri (Doll Festival) is celebrated on March 3rd in Japan. Wishing their daughters’ health and happiness, parents display a set of Hina-dolls and peach blossoms that fend off illness and misfortune. Pictured is an Empress doll in twelve-layered robe. The supreme attire of noble ladies in Heian period (794-1185) has been skillfully recreated.
