Sensoji Temple and Sakata Kintoki
Sensoji Temple is located in the Asakusa district of Tokyo and is one of the oldest and most famous Buddhist temples in Japan, dating back to the 7th century. The temple is dedicated to Kannon, the goddess of mercy. The main hall, or Hondo, houses a revered statue of Kannon.
Sakata Kintoki (坂田 金時) is a legendary figure in Japanese folklore, known as one of the Shichinin Samurai (Seven Brave Samurai) who served under the legendary general Minamoto no Yorimitsu during the Heian period. He is often depicted as a strong and brave warrior. In popular legends, Kintoki is sometimes associated with the folklore hero “Kintaro”, a child hero who was raised by the mountain goddess Yamauba and became famous for his strength.
