The reason Japanese 100-yen shops are where you should get souvenirs from Japan π
A container that makes perfectly-shaped rice balls just by filling it with rice and shaking it. A mold that makes fried eggs in the shape of a catβ¦
Some Japanese 100-yen stores consistently provide value for money that may be small but definitely bigger than a 100 yen.
Let me show you why these Japanese 100-yen shop items are the best, cheap-but-fun gifts you can get as souvenirs for the bunch of people waiting for you to come home from Japan π₯Ή.

I imagine what they would say about the products in a dollar store π
When last in Japan, I got 90% of my omiyage from the 100 yen store as well as some items that didnβt make it into the suitcase. Went to a bunch of them and they never failed to spark joy with their chosen items. As I am resting before my morning cup of tea, I enjoyed todayβs infomercial.
This channel is pure wholesome entertainment! All in all the internet is a net negative for society imo but there are those happy little corners within it that can make life more interesting and more fun
Now I wanna know the documentary π
Simple things like a cute smiley face still works on me. Lol.π
"Stadium-sized room for improvement" is an incredible insult.
Now it makes me wonder if Β₯100 store will have what I need. Not that I can compare it to the American dollar store. More of the quality of the items. Because American dollar stores can get sketchy.
SCRUTINIZING π
Yes! YES! YESSSS tell them!!!! And us(β€)
"So you're telling me… that this…. this smiling neko-san embodies γγγγ? Must be one hell of a rock you've been living under since- when- the JΕmon period?"

Monster Hunter music in the background, I am happy.
I used 100-yen shop products to furnish my 1DK in Fukuoka and balcony with fake grass which was soft!. Lived too close that it became an addictive habit. Quality like that not available here in the UK Β£ shops at all!
Just visited Japan for the first time and found a ton of great gifts from these 100-300 yen stores! As much as we love Daiso, it carries more household and utilitarian items. Our favorite "dollar" store for gifts was CanDo. The second-hand stores are also an amazing place to shop for antique souvenirs!
Miss Japan already β€
Is 100 yen shop still a 100yen? Im asking since it seems in the us the dollar store isnt a dollar anymore
Money – check, money for tourism – check, money for 100 yen shops across Japan – check, money for tickets – check, time? – uuuhh To do list
The only good thing you'll find in .99$ (99 cent) stores here is traditional coke still made with cane sugar. Maybe a pocket knife too.
π
I can literally hear the γͺγ€γͺγ€γͺγ€ in that tone
Love the way you explain things.. You're cute and bring me joy β€π and I don't even pay 100 yenπ
The theme of the Magnamalo from Monster Hunter Rise in the background shockingly didn't shock me at all at first.
Then I realised it was quite familiar, then what it was.
I see so much MH content right now, it just felt normal
Nowadays you just put a cat's face on anything and people will buy, react, click on it and share it in their platforms. πThe line from Marie Kondo San: "Does it spark joy?" Me: It doesn't need to spark any joy, it just needs to be useful and of quality…and at a good price.π π€
Ok, so I feel attacked by this video! π π I'm a sucker for these types of things. Granted, I have brain damage from my brain tumor being removed, unfortunately they had to remove some of my brain to get it all out. So anything that promises to make something I used to do with ease, super easy now, I fall for it every time! π€£ If it's kawaii, it's ten times harder for me to resist. So I'd probably be drowning in tons of these little gadgets! π₯°π«Άπ»
"There is blood and tears behind these products"
I think I have watched enough isekais to know why.
Malaysia did caught on to the culture of 100 Yen stores, but with inflation, they raised the prices.
Originally, everything sold for RM 2… Somehow the price got to RM 2.50, before some shops started to put notices on the shelves that some items would be priced more than that shop's name.(It was called 2 Ringgit Shop)
Eventually, we learned that we can't beat the Japanese in cheap items culture, and all the shops quit the game, and just sell at the appropriate price.
I got a package of bamboo chopsticks (5 pairs) with a cute lemon design printed on them at Daiso back in… 2006?
Those suckers are still good, still vibrant. No amount of washing has dimmed the lemons on those suckers. Amazing.
Japan and US consumerism of useless products is one of the biggest dangers to our environment
(China is the worst polluter, making these items for the west)
When Japanese dollar store have better quality control, standard, and expectations than a regular american store π
I remembered watching a documentary about japanese stationary business. They were very very very serious about the cat shaped memopad.
I say you go with US Military desugn style with simple words divided by commas.
