Volunteer-guided tours are a hidden gem activity all around Japan
Volunteer culture is different around the world. As far as we’ve seen, volunteers tend to be youths who want to try out something different, boost their CV, or earn tips on their school breaks. In Japan, volunteers don’t accept cash, and seem to be run by community programmes with retirees to encourage them to stay active and present. Of course, it doesn’t mean that this is always the case, but it was for the instances that we utilised free volunteer guide services. Is this the same in your country?

that's sooo cool!
I may need to stack a whole lot of Dutch trinkets in my travel bag.
I think its so much nicer to have a local elder giving you a tour to their home town thry grew up in rather then some random 20 year old who never does anything or goes to any of the places they tell you or show you to go/do
