  1. I think something Chris forgets is a lot of people live on a line of latitude similar to Tokyo that has also similar humidity. I was looking at the weather and weather history and its not too different from where I live. I should be fine if I avoid midday and stick to mornings and late nights

  2. I regularly look at the so called unbelievable temperatures Chris rants about in Tokyo, seems to me to be a typical Darwin dry temperatures, and as long as you wear sensible (not black) clothing I really don’t understand this complaint. Oh wait he was born and bred in England😂😂

  3. Because of an accident that I was involved in when I was little, I unfortunately lost a bit of appetite towards most of the foods. For this reason, I also want to try something like that man who made a lot of money through eating not very good foods. Can I see my 70's by doing that or do I die or live a like dead because of the vitamin deprivation or something else? Can someone enlighten me, please?

  4. Back at it again with the summer heat slander, are we?

I'll admit that I've only been to Japan once, so I'm pretty biased seeing as it was in mid-July to mid-August back in 2010.
It's hot, sure, but every bit of green vegetation from forests to rice fields are as green as they can possibly get.

If you do happen to go to Japan in the summer, get out of the concrete cities.
Kamikōchi is my #1 recommendation if you're looking for a bit of fresh air and lower temperatures.
It's a bit out the way if you're coming from the middle of Tokyo, but it's not impossible to get to if you're in Takayama like I was back in the day.
And if you're in Takayama, Shirakawa-go isn't too far away for a day trip.

  5. But Chris you’re in Tokyo right now, I’m in Osaka and it’s BAD, but it’s like 5-6 degrees more, I thought it wouldn’t be as bad

  6. Living in Japan sounds like living in Arizona. It’s awesome 3 seasons a year but that last season is a b@#ch and you just stay inside. As I’ve often said, I personally prefer the cold weather as there is only so much clothing the law allows you to remove when going outdoors and frighting children is never a good look. 😂

  7. That poor man didn’t enjoy his youth so that he might enjoy a life that isn’t promised. 😢 I’m not saying don’t plan and save but you need to enjoy your youth as much as you possibly can! You blink and you’re 59. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️How could he date when you live in a dormitory? Did he never have a girlfriend? Did he travel when the yen was strong? Oddly, that story was quite depressing when you really think about it. I don’t think I would sell my youth for just a million dollars. That’s not really that much these days. PS I love where I’m from and I love where I live. Home is waaaaaay too important to live somewhere you are miserable.

  8. I don't use my heating in the winter either, but I'm used to walking to work all year around so dressing warmly in general is something I'm very accustomed to. The rent, on the other hand… I would kill for the opportunity to only have to pay $250 a month on rent. Even $300 would be a massive difference compared to the amount I'm being extorted – er, I mean, charged entirely fairly – at the moment. Safe to assume those company dorms are tiny, but still, I don't take up much space anyway.

  9. Lol we are currently on holiday in Japan! So true Chris and we are from Australia and used to heat! However we are in Hokkaido and its perfect for temp but what is it with the humidity! We live in Cairns buts brutal even for us! Love the content..

  10. the problem is that woman in their 20-40ties are moving massively to big cities in the cities they decide to become career woman as having a family is expensive.
therefore they decide to refrain from marriage. so the population number drops.
the dankai sedai団塊世代 aka baby boomers also getting older so they`ll work less and less and die more and more that's why a population crisis is unavoidable unless they allow more foreigners in than now and lower their standards of having a bachelor for close to every decent job.

  11. I prefer Manarisu and his Sukiya Rewards Card.
Also saving him a bunch of money on meals, but it's a more interesting story.

  12. It's interesting to think about people's feelings about where they live in the UK.. I'm based in Sheffield and I would say objectively that it's a brilliant geographical location, nestled in seven hills with a plethora of wooded areas, tree lined suburbs – on the nature side its a pretty city along the north, west and south sides, more industrial to the east. All that is very nice but where it does fail, and a lot of places seem to suffer with this issue, is the woeful management. A lot of powerful people are abusing the UK in awful ways, abuse which seems to filter out in all directions, leaving the population generally powerless to do much beyond treading water. It's going to take a lot of good long term strategies to resolve it all, but there remains a lot to resolve at a politically fundamental level before it's probably ready to even address those long term matters properly, so in essence it's a bit of a trap.

  13. Don’t ever come to Australia in December, January, February or March, especially to Queensland, the summers are soooooo hot. Actually we are still in winter, 1st September is Spring, apparently. However this week and into next week we are experiencing 19 degrees Celsius over night and 31-35 degrees Celsius during the day. It seems we’re skipping Spring this year and heading straight into summer. Good grief 😫🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll be in Japan during the month of November so I will be having a bit of a reprieve at least. Love your podcast……

  14. In Cyprus it can easily get to 45 Celsius in August – we had an incident a few years ago where a man left a newspaper on his car dashboard – it caught fire and the car blew up!

  15. I think everyone chooses their own path to live and walk. There is nothing for anybody else to say for it. Sometimes you need to select from those cards that live gives to you and try to cope with them as wisely as you could.

  16. I've been riding my bicycle in Kanagawa this summer. Even if I go out late afternoon it's about a 2 hour limit before I've lost 4 kilos in sweat and get home to a shower and some AC.😂

  17. Hang on, both wearing the same shirt as last time, there's the same blue bottle, camera positions haven't moved one mm either, we're not being bamboozled are we?

  18. I looked to early retire when I was 55 with the view to working a couple of lunch times a week at a coffee shop. As I got closer my target savings meant it was going to be closer to 57, however during lockdown I was laid off and the payoff along with low spending due to having worked from home for a few months meant I managed it at 53. Not regretted it, though I do play far too many computer games (I do have other hobbies, one of which does involve some voluntary work, which also gets me out of the house).

  19. You should go to Hartlepool, it's like a less nice version of Kamakura.) Plus it's where Ridley Scott made his first short film – "Boy and Bicycle."😁

  20. I spent my early to late twenties wasting all the money I made on food and other comfort things, I regret it now that I actually need money.

  21. If you save money on food, you are saving on your own health. Never a smart idea. You then spend the money later on medical help.

  22. Generally people in Scotland and Wales are more proud of where they come from. I think a lot of English aren't.

  23. Same here in China the heat is unbearable. I just got back from the UK and it’s still 40c here in Chengdu.

  24. I hear so much about Hartlepool, but have no idea what it’s like. Would be awesome if Chris actually made a video about it.
