Love this. The last time I went to japan I couldn’t really get to enjoy much of the food except for a small vegan ramen place near a temple. I hope that I can visit again and try some of the places you recommended
missing your vids ma'am
A helpful tip is to look/ask for "buddhist food" since sometimes japanese think you won't eat pieces of meat but will serve you things in a meat broth etc.
Good to know. I guess YouTube found out I'm a vegetarian
You should do a podcast
Actually there is a traditional vegan cuisine in Japan called shojin ryori 精進料理. This is what the Buddhists in Japan ate since meat-related products were (and maybe still is) banned for them.
Definitely going here! Looks awesome!
i get being vegan, but in Japan, no no, too much good food, could not do it
Most vegan, shojin cuisine in Japan are tasty! Probably because they are prepared with huge amounts of sugar, salt, shoyu and dashi (from seaweed, mushrooms, fish and bones) I wouldn't say they are healthy! The portions used to be the good thing, hara 8 bun! But, nowadays even that is becoming western like…
Hey, I was in Japan 3 weeks ago as a vegetarian and I discovered such an amazing restaurant that you should definitely visit, it’s by an old couple, only vegetarian and vegan food, colorful and flavorful and of my 6 week trip through Malaysia and Japan this was my favorite food. They have not a big menu, you can order different portions and sizes of the vegan sushi. The restaurant is in kamakura and it’s called: Chirashiya
I hope you will visit them someday 😊
私は日本人だけど和食はちょっと味が地味で苦手😅だから外国人の方が気に入ってくれて良かった💗
Finally, content I actually want – what to eat in Japan as a vegetarian >~<
You can also get vegan food in all buddhist places. There's a very nice shukubo in Minobusan called Kakurinbo with brilliant vegetarian food.
being "vegan in Japan" is like asking for a "small" portion in America. lmao. made me laugh. thank you.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I am genuinely concerned. You look like you need an iron and vitamin D supplement. Are you by chance struggling with low energy these days?
Looks like it cost a fortune too
The only place I found vegetarian/vegan food when I was in Japan was in Koyasan. It was sooooo difficult. I am adding this one to my list! Thank you so much!
