Tamagoyaki Japanese Omelette | Japan Street Food

Tamagoyaki is a Japanese Omelette dish made by rolling multiple layers of egg. The egg mixture is normally consists of eggs, soy sauce, mirin, sugar and dashi.

Tamagoyaki (玉子焼き) is sometimes known as dashimaki/dashimaki tamago due to the usage of dashi, a cooking stock used in Japanese cuisine.

This rolled omelettes are cooked using a special pan called mikiyakinabe, which is rectangular in shape. Before the egg mixture is poured in, the pan is brushed with a layer of oil to prevent the egg from sticking.

This Japanese street food can be found either savoury or sweet, depending on how the street food vendor seasons the egg mixture. Not only is Tamago commonly sold as a street food, it is also commonly found in bentos and sushi restaurants across Japan.
