Around 700 years ago, a famous bladesmith named Chiyozuru Kuniyasu found his way to the town of Takefu (present day Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture) to forge swords. He later turned to craft tools like knives and sickles to help the local farmers. His legacy lives on today through the masterful work of Takefu’s knife artisans, which are regarded to be one of the sharpest and most resilient knives in the country.
