Japanese prefer hanging their wet cloth outside or inside, rather than using a dryer.

using a dryer May annoy a Japanese wife Believe It or Not Japanese people still prefer drying their clothes by hanging that to dry it in a dryer machine like this 88 of the Japanese population hang dry their wash clothes either inside or outside Japanese believe that it’s gentle around the clothes reduces wrinkles limits shrinking and when hanging outside in the sunlight acts as a disinfectant plus overall it’s cheaper for me though I’m personally into the convenience of these drum Watchers and dryers that do everything in one continuous cycle and although my wife Michael grew up in a home where they hung their clothes she was happy to join me in the drier life on the other hand my foreign friend who had to abandon the dry feature as soon as he got married to his Japanese wife as she definitely preferred to hang all of their clothes so yeah each couple has a different threshold for what’s acceptable for them

  1. My wife has accepted life with a dryer. We bought a Miele washer and dryer and have never looked back.

  2. Dunno here in Germany we basically think the same way… Not to mention if you clean the dust trap you are literally cleaning out bits of your cloth

  3. If you need to do a lot of laundry at once, having a dryer really helps the throughput. The advantage is you can do laundry once a week. If you hang your clothes up, you pretty much have to constantly be doing laundry so there is time for things to dry.

  4. Dryers cost a lot to run. The sun or hot temperatures in the summer are for free 😂 (most asian countries are warm throughout the year anyways, even snow would freak them out).
And a lot of Asians need that space for crockery because they bloomin invite their extended families and the village every week 😅

  5. Hang drying is better for your clothes. Japanese also prefer cold water over hot, which also less frequently damages your fabrics and helps your clothes last longer.

  6. Hmmmm. I thought hanging clothes to dry tend to stretch the clothes more due to the water weight. I guess I was doing it wrong. 🤣

  7. I’m not sure if it’s really that convenient at all, I’ve heard that these washer/dryer machines take a long time to complete a single cycle, like 4 to 8 hours, is that true?

  8. > since i do a lot of hand washing in bathroom sink, i am used to hang drying; better for the clothes – but sheets & towels go in the machine !

  9. "It's gentler on the clothes, the sun acts as a disinfectant…"
I dunno, sounds a little paranoid
    "It's cheaper"
    Okay, fair enough!

  10. I like mine in a dryer, comes out nice and soft. Hanging pants and underwear make the fabrics too hard and it chaffed my nut sack
