This Place Is Out of This World | Day Trip To Matsushima From Sendai, Japan

A beautiful day of exploring one of the three most scenic views in Japan. It is located in Matsushima Bay in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. I took a train to Hon-Shiogama station and then took a sightseeing boat to Matsushima. During my visit, I explored some beautiful sites such as Godaido Temple, Fukuura Island, Zuiganji Temple, Entsuin Temple, and much more.

[Music] I found this place by accident here in a place called matsushima in mayagi prefecture and uh almost the whole area is to myself as usual but the uh the exact place is actually an island that uh that offers a beautiful um hiking opportunity it’s a really beautiful uh beautiful place to visit [Music] I am on my way to matsushima Bay it’s ranked one of the three most scenic views in Japan and I am starting my journey from sundai station all the way to Hon shama so so let’s go [Music] [Music] [Music] see I got off the train at hon shiama train station and I am on my way to take uh a sightseeing uh boat tour from a place called Marine Gama so I got this tip from one of the reviews that I read last night of Trip Advisor uh forum and one person say that uh it’s better to go to Hon shiogama to avoid the the crowd because as you can see it appears that I am the only person here in this area and that boat from my understanding that sightseeing boat takes about uh 50 minutes to go through one of the uh three more Scenic uh views in Japan the other two Scenic views in Japan one is located in uh somewhere in h Hiroshima region and the other one is in Kyoto region which I will visit both of them next month God’s willing but first let’s let’s uh figure out where I buy the uh the boat tour the sightseen cruise so here is the boarding gate and it looks like I am the only one here I got the ticket for 1,500 Yen and that’s about uh $966 cuz as at the time of recording this video one yen I mean1 US dollar is about 156 um Yen and the uh the journey will take about 50 minute um 50 minutes to to get to mat Matsu Shima Bay I’m not sure if that’s how they pronounce it in Japanese matu matsushima but uh they pronounce it in another way that I could not get it’s very hard to pronounce uh the Japanese uh the way the Japanese pronounce the city names but uh I’m not sure if I arrived early or not I mean I don’t see anybody here that’s that’s what uh concerns me but um a lot of people who actually visited uh that beautiful Bay suggested this uh technique to avoid the um the crowd because if I do it the other way you can do the same way from mat matsushima to shiama the other way around but that route is very very busy so I am trying to avoid void the crowd and so far it looks like uh that guy who recommended this route is correct because I don’t see anybody here it’s only me and this town shiogama has the I think the biggest uh fish market in uh Japan because this particular town is very very famous for um for fishing it’s um fishing town right here so let’s wait for that beautiful uh boat and we will explore it [Music] [Music] together English yes English first okay first floor first [Music] okay outside okay outside [Music] okay so I was the first person to board and this section the whole section is to myself and there is extra charge to go inside that room but it’s not worth it because it’s inside the room it doesn’t give you open uh area like this one I can uh I can film without any uh obstacles like Windows if I sit uh inside so I hope uh I won’t be disappointed we will see how that uh view that is ranked as one of the three most scenic views in Japan we will see [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right you see how crowded this side is so I am glad that I followed that tip suggestion of Trip Advisor Forum they told me if I Bard from this location this is the crowd that I will be dealing with so I am super glad that I actually boarded the uh the boat from [Music] hwa and uh there is a beautiful Island right there I think it’s called fuk fukukura something like that I will go [Music] there so now let’s wait for that lady to to finish uh speaking it’s uh the microphone is too loud the speaker I mean [Music] all right so next destination is that beautiful Temple right there so there is no shortage of shrines and temples in this beautiful uh place you see that beautiful building right there on a small iset so basically the uh this Bay has a lot of those uh small islands called isets I guess because of the small size uh they are about 260 small Islands throughout the the whole entire uh bay right there so uh so this is uh way takes me to godo and that is one of the National Treasures in Matsu Shima right there so it looks like it’s a small red uh bridge that takes me to that island but later I would like actually to go to the actual Island I’m going to try to pronounce it right there I need to walk the bridge I think they charge 200 yen to walk that bridge but there is also another Island that uh does not charge anything for using their Bridge yeah it’s it’s because it’s very popular destination to visit it’s a little bit crowded especially around this time May um 2024 beautiful uh beautiful uh season decent weather and I think a lot of people have uh vacation the uh the local Japanese they they visit the major cities and Cai is one of them all right let’s go walk toward that beautiful red rdge let’s go all right I found my way to the bridge right there and I’m not sure if it’s actually free or not but I will go all the way to that beautiful uh Island but I really enjoy the view so far but I guess the exit the entrance is on the other side so we’ll figure it out Bridge entrance you see fukura Jima Island and it’s um 200 yen kicha ticket oh the the machines okay all right mission accomplished I got a ticket for 200 yin to walk uh this uh beautiful Bridge isn’t that beautiful it really is so uh two people wanted to um to come with me on this particular day trip from from saai two people from Germany that I met how oh I kicha kicha right kicha yeah all right I wanted to say kicha but for some reason I said something else ha or something I don’t know I have no idea what I said but he corrected me so two people from uh Germany in their late 20s very young people that uh I met at McDonald’s yesterday it’s a little bit uh windy uh around this area so let’s uh I’m going to finish the uh the sub object once I uh get inside those uh trees to block the U the wind noise because it doesn’t make sense if I talk and the wind is ruining my uh my uh video audio but uh it looks to me that is Almost Heaven on Earth you see this place it reminds me of the uh Pharaoh Islands that I visited in um late summer 2023 you can check out my videos of the Pharaoh Islands that place is uh out of this world too full of uh nature and so uh a German guy with his girlfriend wanted to join me on this s trip because I met them yesterday at McDonald’s and they were I saw them were trying to edit videos on their laptop and they were new to YouTube uh video editing and they happen to use the same program that I am using to edit my videos and that is Apple f Final Cut Pro made by Apple so they were totally new and they have not uploaded any YouTube video so I approached them because they were struggling with some stuff and they speak very good English wow it’s a beautiful uh view of the bridge right there it’s really a nice uh environment to walk to walk through so I helped them um figure out some stuff and then they asked me uh do you have a YouTube channel I said yeah I do I have a YouTube channel that I do for [Music] fun and they looked at it and they liked the uh the the videos that they watched and they said could you please help us teach us how you how you can do this how you can walk in public like this and you speak without worrying about people you speak Non-Stop and look at that it’s so beautiful it really is they are trying to do videos similar to my style like vlogging they want to do what to document their uh their Adventure they don’t want to do heavy editing videos uh highly edited scripted no they want to do stuff like like the way I am doing it so I told them you need to learn two things first when you do videos like that first do not worry rule number one do not worry about what people will say about you no matter what no matter how bad you are no matter how good you are do not worry about what people would say about you when you when you walk in public and you talk like the way I talking right now wow this is one of the uh major eyelet eyelets that uh that they explained on the boat they have uh an explanation in English when I was on the uh on the boat on the sightseeing cruise I think I should say not a boat that is a big boat cruise so I told them you need to forget about worrying about what people would say about you when you do your YouTube videos people who you come across when you do filming in public like this like now or people who watch your videos you will never be able to make everybody happy no matter how good you are so do not worry about negative comments nothing like that so forget about them rule number two be yourself do not try to be somebody else when you uh film in public just be yourself and when you talk to a camera just visualize that you are talking to one of your best friend on camera who happens to be with you walking just imagine yourself that you’re walking with your friends or your relative and you’re talking to them so that is rule number two once you master those things then you start practicing more and more wow this is a what a shrine no this is a temple the uh the area is called mat Matsu Shima Nature Park the whole area is uh some kind of uh a national a national park you see this is grass park that’s a restroom and that’s the Pavilion I would assume that the Pavilion will will uh will be cute so we will go and explore it see I got to the to some kind of a viewing platform right there I am almost 100% sure that I will see many many beautiful views along uh along the way and that is uh one of them one of the beautiful views if I just keep walking down there it looks like it’s a beautiful hiking opportunity that I am getting myself into you see uh this trail ends up here with the a wooden viewing platform right there I don’t see a lot of people here but it also offers really fantastic view right there and somehow I can go there but I’m not going to do it because there are other places that I would like to to visit and this is like a small uh Beach right there but they don’t allow you to go there there is no there is no way to go there no entry you look at the uh at the shape of the trees it’s really beautiful wow I found myself now in a very isolated uh area right there but I’m not quite sure if I’m going to push my luck and go any further so uh maybe I go this way I know that there are a few shrines and temples on the uh on the other side on another Island I think or the other Island there is actually a bridge free bridge to walk but in on that island there is nothing that’s what I read online in case you are uh Curious and the um the train ticket to to shiama H shiama is only about uh 330 Yen one way so you don’t need actually uh to to buy u a day pass they have a day pass for uh to to explore this region but actually if you do it uh if you buy the t it only for uh to go to this region you end up spending less money than buying the uh the one day pass and uh so those uh two German people wanted to join me today but I told them I cannot wait until uh noon because I am meeting some people I have to be back back in saai around 3:00 p.m. because I am meeting uh a a friend of mine who lives in Texas but happens to be in uh in Japan so I am going to meet him and his wife today because they are actually planning to stay in Japan for 6 months because he has some kind of business here his wife is a Japanese American so um she speaks very uh fluent Japanese and that will be a good opportunity to go and talk to her I’m sure I will learn something from her and the those German people wanted to to go at noon because they wanted they have some kind of a tour that is already booked they already bought a ticket that they’re going to do a tour and tour will will finish around 11:00 in the morning so I said sorry I cannot do it they they just want to walk with me and uh watch me do this video isn’t that beautiful I mean uh people want to join me too to see how I’m doing my videos I said hm this is the first time I’m getting such a request like this it it’s it’s it sounds weird to me but I told them I am not I am not that uh perfect I don’t need to learn from me see this is the first time I’ve seen a um non-japanese uh foreign Travelers so um that’s a good term to use foreign Travelers that are not from Japan that’s the first time in saai in this region because for the last two weeks I have not I did not see um foreign travelers from outside Japan they are all Japanese for the most part the trail goes this way so we will continue going that way so the trail that I am taking took me back to this uh Shrine I’m not sure if I really saw this Shrine earlier or not I don’t remember but uh the view is um fabulous right here it really is I’m really trying to see if there is a way to go all the way down to the beach I am almost 100% sure there is it’s got to be a way to do it I’ll figure that out yeah it doesn’t look like there is a way to go down to the beach they don’t allow you and um so if you are planning to visit this uh Island I mean to visit this place I should say I would suggest you follow the same the same uh TCT um technique that I used you go to um to that train station um forgot what’s what’s called hon chiama and then um take the boat the sightseeing boat to um matsushima matsushima and then in matsushima that’s where I am at right now there is uh this famous island that is just a few steps away from the uh from the uh the boat station you can just uh explore this uh beautiful island it’s such a beautiful hiking opportunity as you can see and then after that um there is u a beautiful Temple that I am trying to visit that will be my next destination for today after I figure out how to get out of this uh Island to get back to the bridge to the main uh land and then um and then at the end of the day I will take the train from Matsu Shima Ken station I think that’s what they call it it’s about 15 minute walk from here all the way to suai and that’s where I am currently based in uh suai and then at night around 3:00 p.m. afternoon I will go visit my friend from Texas with uh his wife and they will take me to um uh dinner they told me that there is a beautiful nighttime night uh Market I should say and sundai I will figure that out and I will not be filming because when I go out with friends or people that I meet for the first time when I am in uh a foreign country when I do my exploring I don’t film CU I don’t want to subject um to you know um I like to enjoy my time without worrying about any any of that kind of stuff filming and YouTube and all that kind of stuff so let’s go now to that uh beautiful uh Temple wow look at what I found I’m a little bit lost to be quite honest with you I don’t know how to get back to the bridge but in the process of looking for the the bridge I found myself here and I guess they call it what the grass park right there and guess what the beach is right there so there is a way actually to go to the to the beach but I would like to go to that beautiful small building I don’t know what that is maybe it’s a shrine a rest area a beautiful rest area he can uh bring your picnic um lunch and uh and sit here doesn’t look like there is uh any kind of fee to to pay but it’s really beautiful so I’m going to walk to the beach since I already found it I found it by accident while I am looking for the bridge to walk back to the to the mainland I still don’t know where that bridge is I try to use Google Maps but Google Maps doesn’t work and uh in an environment such as this one you see out of the Southern now more and more people are showing up maybe when they saw me uh filming and uh [Music] talking because the area is very very quiet when I film and talk people can easily hear me and then the place got their attention I think and that’s how they show up and I am sure um they were looking for the bridge as well and they found this uh place by accident just like the way I am uh just like the same situation I am in but the the whole place looks uh gorgeous right there it reminds me of a village in the Pharaoh Islands the Pharaoh Islands is almost a country in the Atlantic Ocean the Pharaoh Islands and um and that uh that is part part of uh Denmark and a village called Saxon it has some kind of similar similar setting wow it’s beautiful and I found another beautiful small Beach here another one in addition to that uh park that is called grass Park but this one is a little bit special because because it has the view of the red um the famous Red Bridge it looks uh beautiful to me so I’m going to walk the bridge to the mainland right there to find my way to a beautiful uh Temple right right there so let’s [Music] go I can’t stop the temptation to to film this beautiful uh Bridge along with this uh view right there so this area got damaged heavily on March 11 2011 the uh tsunami there was a big earthquake that hit uh this region myagi and actually the the earthquake did not actually cause the damage the tsunami is the one that caused the heavy uh damaged and this bridge uh completely uh got destroyed by the tsunami so it could not handle um the tsunami so they rebuild it it took about a few months to rebuild um to rebuild it and most uh attractions here uh closed for a few months it took them a while for full recovery but it was a big tsunami I’m not sure if you heard about it March 11 2011 I was uh in California at the gym working out when I heard um the uh breaking news and at the gym so I was doing cardos at the time and I saw the breaking news uh Japan got hit by big earthquake and then tsunami followed them that but I’m I’m glad that the uh the the city now is back is back to normal everything everything is uh everything is fine uh [Music] now all right it’s a warning sign says in case of a earthquake go to a higher ground so that’s good uh good to know I’m not sure where my what’s my first move will be if I if I feel an earthquake probably I will jump in one of those buildings I guess go to Higher Ground that is a hotel maybe I will just go and uh go in inside and then what take the elevator the elevator will be um will shut down I guess I take the uh the stairs to go up but usually when when there is an earthquake people try to go outside the building but in this case my next move most likely will be to find a mountain right there but it’s kind of a a little bit far from uh from where I am so I’m not quite sure what the the right uh thing to do in case of an a big earthquake when they say go to Higher Ground that does that mean it has to be like like a mountain a hill or a building so I guess I found the answer tsunami evacuation area about 1 km away from here and it tells you the uh the name of the place pretty much it’s a parking lot that is a little bit on higher ground so I guess if that happens I just follow the local people because they know what they’re doing if uh if that happens an earthquake and tsunami see I am on my way to the temple and I found myself in this residential area it appears to be a residential area but it looks uh gorgeous the um full of uh beautiful homes and I am pretty much relying on Google Maps 100% but I do see people behind me a few people behind me going the same direction maybe maybe Google Maps is correct you see that beautiful view right there we are now in uh May early May and it looks like the uh the cherry blossom season is gone I don’t see any um cherry cherry trees anymore and I am about to arrive and uh to to see one of the most beautiful temples in mayagi mayagi prefecture I highly recommend you uh you give this uh region a chance when you visit Japan it’s really beautiful uh beautiful areas unfortunately uh most tourists when they visit Japan they limit themselves to Kyoto and Kyoto is full of people reach a point that it’s not enjoyable anymore and even the local authorities are giving some restrictions giving the tourists some restrictions they don’t allow cameras they don’t allow people to walk in certain areas they ban people from going to certain um places in Kyoto and I don’t blame them because it’s uh it’s it’s getting ridiculous so many people only go to Kyoto when they visit Japan and it is a shame really a shame because Japan is a beautiful country there are many other regions to explore besides Kyoto so I’m saying do not limit yourself to Kyoto just try to to expand your Horizon and go explore these uh beautiful regions you can watch my videos to get uh to get a sense of what what areas I am visiting and most of them are of the beaten bath path that uh that are not well known and it looks like this is the uh um the entry the or the other one so I see two two entrances where is the entrance the uh it turn out that the entrance actually is that way but uh also what I noticed is that the prices are a little bit uh lower cheaper than uh done koyoto right here you see once you you go outside Tokyo the prices significantly drop and uh but I’m I’m quite sure I will not be disappointed if I visit this Temple because it’s really beautiful but I need to buy the ticket from one of those vending machine all right I got the ticket for 700 Yen and it’s a little bit uh for some reason it’s a little bit higher than the other temples that I visited but the building is uh is amazing it’s one of the Zen temples here in uh Japan and I hope they allow me to hike to the to one of those mountains to get a beautiful view of the temple I don’t want to ruin their photo opportunity so I will wait wow it’s amazing [Music] [Music] so 700 Yen to visit this Temple and then 1,500 for the sightseeing boat and 200 yen to walk that bridge the Red Bridge that you saw earlier and the train from saai is 330 Yen one way two ways will be 600 60 so I would say it’s really cheap to visit this beautiful uh place so far if I convert it into US dollar it’s not even uh it’s not even $30 so far which is quite uh a good deal to me I need to take off my shoes here [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] see on my way out to the um train station I found this uh beautiful Temple right here it looks so beautiful to me and um it’s 500 yen so I said it would be a shame not to visit and take a take a look and the garden is really beautiful it has the pictures um outside at the restaurant that I just ate um I got a meal there and that’s how I found out about it wow what a beautiful uh Garden right here it looks better than the one that I you visited earlier there is some kind of uh an event going on or a tour guide I have no idea what that is but wow so it’s beautiful but the main hall is uh I guess somewhere here so this is a cemetery right here [Music] and I’m looking for actual the actual main building and it looks like it goes It goes that way but it’s such a beautiful uh beautiful place to explore and there is another building right there so the other Temple is actually next door so they are next to each other so if you do get a chance to visit the other Temple uh try to stop by here wow it’s amazing heaven on Earth right here wow I’m so glad that I that I got stopped by here and decided to buy the ticket and there is something going on right there I do see uh some some [Music] caves the um the other Temple that I visited does not uh allow uh photos uh cameras inside so I wasn’t able to to film inside the uh the building wow amazing right here so let’s go to the main hall right there there is a big big uh bus tour that um has a lot of um people foreign Travelers non Japanese people and um it’s a really big huge bus so the area was a little bit busy for quite a while until they until they left and then I decided to buy the ticket and uh and come here and check her out and now you see the the building is almost to myself nobody is here [Music] [Music] wow it’s amazing Matsu Shima so that will be my final destination for this beautiful place and if you do get a chance to visit this region come here you will not regret it but if you don’t have the chance to visit this region I hope that this video will make you feel as if
