and the tickets are not that
uh expensive here in
Japan when you visit these
uh beautiful uh
sites
wow it’s
beautiful maybe I don’t even need to go
inside the place I like to explore
the the exterior
of the of the
building as opposed to going
[Music]
inside fore
[Music]
all right today
is another
day to explore this major city called
Sendai in
mayagi prefecture
this is obviously a big city unlike the
uh the towns that I
visited in in the previous videos those
are very small
towns but this one this city is actually
the capital of uh
mayagi
prefecture and I like what I see so far
they for some reason they call it the
city of
trees maybe it has a lot of uh
trees and the bus that I uh that I I am
using today is
called uh this is the Lupu sundai is one
day
pass that uh takes you to the most uh to
most uh tourist uh sites in this uh in
this
city but strangely enough the site that
I visited yesterday the big statue of
Buddha is not covered by that pass for
some
reason the uh they’re
not they’re not
promoting the big Buddha statue in suai
and I’m not sure why
and this is a cemetery along the
way so the place that I am going to now
is actually the
uh the
mum of the first uh ruler of
suai the person who founded this city
back in
1600 so uh
it’s a nice place to
explore that’s from what I uh gathered
online last
night and I do see uh two gates that one
and this one and there is a fee 430 Yen
I
think or something like that 5007 tis
and
uh and the tickets are not the that
uh expensive here in
Japan when you visit these
uh beautiful uh
sites
wow it’s
beautiful maybe I don’t even need to go
inside the place I like to explore
the the
exterior of the of the
building as opposed to going
[Music]
inside
wow and it goes this way I guess they
allow me to go this
way I don’t see any sign that says no
entry
wow obviously there is
a a trail goes to the
uh to a big uh Forest
arato Big Forest
uh now out of the Southern I don’t see
anybody here so uh it’s really a a big
uh
garden and so far I’m not uh nobody
asked me me for uh for a
ticket
to to wander through this uh
area and I am allowed
to to be in this area because I don’t
see any sign warning me that uh Hey
you’re not supposed to be
here look at
that yeah it’s a big uh it’s a big
Forest right
[Music]
there wow it’s a really nice area here
I was supposed to go
to a very beautiful area here around an
hour um uh
trip from
saai and that place is one of the
reasons why I am staying in saai but I
woke up uh late around 9:00 a.m. in the
morning as it’s not worth it to go there
since I already wasted my my morning so
I said I’ll keep that trip for
tomorrow or maybe after
tomorrow because uh there is no
rain for the next 3 days so I want to go
accomplish that uh day
trip and it’s a very
beautiful place to visit because it’s
it’s considered one of the most one of
the three most uh Scenic uh sites in
Japan and that’s about an hour trip from
from
sandai and that’s the uh that’s uh place
is is the reason why many people visit
uh
saai so I’m trying to to do that day
trip early in the morning so I’m going
to wake up very early tomorrow 6:00 a.m.
in the
morning to have uh breakfast
and and enjoy
the the morning and then start get an
early start and get that to that area
by 8 or 9:00 so I
have a full day of exploring and that
will definitely be in another
another video I really like this place I
have no idea I have no idea where I’m
supposed to go maybe this is the way to
go I see people going down going down
maybe to go up he go this way and then
to go
down he goes that way so I will just
follow the
rules and follow the
sign but uh
it’s really
beautiful it really is it reminds me of
uh a garden that I walk through in
Kyoto in late
2023 that’s almost uh a year and a half
ago we are
now in late
April the last day of
April at the time I’m recording this
video
and I am one video
behind I filmed some parts of uh suai
that I have not
published to YouTube yet because I’m
still working on editing that
video and uh maybe this is where I buy
the the ticket right there
all right I got the ticket for 470 Yen
they give me a discount because I hold
the day pass for the bus so I get uh 100
y uh discount but if you don’t have the
pass it will be
570
Yen and here is the entrance and the
name of the place is called
zo hen right
there zoy
hen and maybe that is
the the
garden goes that
way but uh since I already have the
ticket
let’s let’s go inside the uh the
[Applause]
building I think this is one of the top
places to visit in
[Music]
suai the museum is that
[Music]
way almost 90% of the people that I see
see so far are
Japanese I don’t see foreign Travelers
[Music]
see I was inside that museum right there
but they don’t
allow uh videos inside they don’t allow
cameras at all so I’m going now to the
Garden to walk through that beautiful
place but the view behind me is really
beautiful right
there so um I don’t want to ruin the
photo opportunity for them so I’ll keep
uh going that way but that is actually
the main spot for this uh site
most people go there because maybe that
is
the the place the MOs mosum of
uh of his name is date I forgot how they
forgot his name but his first name is
date d a t e and that’s the first Lord
of uh of
saai in
1600 so the route goes that way and uh
that’s where I am headed
next it looks like it’s going to be a
beautiful hike right
there and earlier I was uh up there you
see that beautiful uh beautiful iconic
building I want
to hurry up a little bit before the the
tour group uh shows up
a big bus uh just uh stopped
by with a lot of
uh
travelers from Japan and that’s what I
noticed almost uh almost everybody is
Japanese now in this uh space the uh the
tourists and uh today is almost one
month of my stay
in uh Japan I’ve been in Japan now for
almost a month and I have a month and a
half uh uh more to
stay I am allowed to stay up to 90 days
I’m still debating whether I should stay
90 days or just keep it 2 and 1 half
months we will see but what I noticed so
far is that uh I don’t see
I don’t see uh
European and North American uh um
Travelers um once I left Tokyo going
toward uh Fukushima prefecture visiting
the uh the remote
areas in Fukushima and also in
sandai I don’t see I don’t see Americans
I don’t see Europeans at all all I see
are just Japanese travelers from other
regions of Japan visiting the the towns
that I that I am
visiting un like when I was in uh in
Tokyo and also a year and a half ago
when I was in Kyoto and
hoshima those cities are
full with uh American
tourists but so far
here no I have not seen any so far
and I am staying in saai for a week one
week to rest and also to go to that uh
beautiful place that you will find out
uh maybe in one of
the next videos about an
hour uh trip from here as I mentioned
before but uh this
considered a major city suai is actually
one of the uh biggest
cities in uh Japan as you can see a lot
of uh a lot of people so
crowded it’s so
crowded but the towns that I
visited last
week the uh the whole towns were almost
to myself because not a lot of people
visit those uh remote
areas wow this place is really huge and
that is his name date tsunam tun I’ll
just try to pronounce it I know I’m
going to sound stupid uh ignorant but
forgive me I’m just trying date
tunon
so that is the person the great uh ruler
of this uh beautiful city
saai
who established and
founded this um this uh City I also
visited his castle but uh the actual
castle does not exist anymore only the
ruins of that castle still exist I was a
little bit um disappointed when I went
there I hiked all the way up and I found
it by accident by the way if you if you
watch that video you will know you will
know what happened to me I was just uh
filming without any plan going uh going
to us a way that I’m not sure where is
going to lead me to but I ended up in a
in a castle and it turned out that is uh
that is a top tourist attraction in
saai but it’s not as beautiful as this
place and I say it’s not beautiful
because it doesn’t have the uh the uh
the same Bea
as far as the Landscapes go like all
these trees right
there this is a
beautiful and uh and the hike keeps
going there but I really want to visit
um a beautiful
Shrine and I it’s already 1:00 uh p.m.
oh wow you see that is the stair that
takes me all the way down I was was
wondering when I was down there I
thought that I could go up using this
stair but it turns out that this is only
one way going
down but I have uh I bought a a day pass
and I want to make good use of it today
to you to to visit uh that uh
Shrine and I think
uh that is the one of the
top on my uh on my list beautiful Shrine
I usually skim
through the pages uh the
internet to see which uh Place interests
me there are a lot of other places but
they are museums and I am not into um
I’m not into museums I don’t want I
don’t like going inside buildings I like
outdo I like something like that you
know
nature I don’t like to go inside a
building unless if it’s uh if it’s a bad
weather then that is different story I
do go inside the
museums when it’s
raining or when it’s windy
outside and that’s when
I use the uh
Museum and here is another trail goes
that
way but uh
is it uh close or what I see people
coming coming uh down but I don’t know
what those signs say I have no idea so
if you speak Japanese you tell me what
this science says is it a warning sign
or or what or maybe I’m
not allowed to to be here but I do see
those people
walking what a beautiful
environment look at that isn’t that
beautiful Japan is very very cheap
country by the way to to to visit you
visit all these uh beautiful um
beautiful attractions you know for a
fraction of the cost that you spend in
Europe and in North America so I’ve been
to I’ve been to Canada I’ve been
to almost 50 states in the US almost I
visited almost most national parks in
the US and I visited many places in
Western
Europe but if you compare the cost like
the money that I spent in those places
in North
America when I say North America I mean
United States of America and Canada and
Western Europe and I compare it to the
the money that I have spent so far in
Japan it’s not uh it’s not even close
and in my
opinion Japan is a beautiful country
once you
leave the uh the crowded areas you know
you you you you you you try to stay away
from the touristy places if you visit
Japan don’t limit yourself to Kyoto
don’t limit yourself to Osaka just
expand your Horizon and think outside
the box and uh spend a little bit time
doing your research on Reddit um uh
forums and and Trip Advisor forums you
will be surprised that uh a lot of
Travelers Shar their experience you know
and uh they uh they share their
experience and they tell people U what
places they visit and those places are
not explained uh on the main uh websites
and the blogs
because those blogs are monetized so
they advertise um places is that pay
commission or something like that but
when you when you do your reading you
read uh the
forums and uh they’re not advertising
anything they’re not monetized The
Travelers that share their experience
they’re not getting anything out of you
so they just like to help people and
this is what I usually
do and now I am I found myself once
again in the middle of nowhere by myself
nobody comes here or what you see
all people went down down there but they
don’t know that there is a trail here or
what see and this is like this is what I
like to do I like to be away from the
touristy uh destinations touristy
spots something got inside my mouth I
don’t know what that is maybe a
fly so I had to get rid of that
I interrupted the the the
filming but let’s keep going and see
where that will take me
to it keeps
going but
uh as I mentioned before I’m trying to
go to a
shrine I I want to make good use of the
uh of the uh the the day pass the bus
that uh the bus ticket that I got is
unlimited
rides so uh that’s why I am in a little
bit rush and I do see a building up
there but I wonder why I’m wondering why
nobody nobody comes uh comes here so
when I say don’t limit yourself to uh to
Kyoto if you visit um Japan don’t limit
yourself to Tokyo
I’m not saying do not visit Kyoto Kyoto
is a beautiful beautiful city I visited
Kyoto you can check out my videos of
Kyoto it’s a beautiful city full of uh
full of historic uh temples and shrines
the um it has a lot of UNESCO world
heritage sites and in World War II they
decided not to bomb Kyoto because the
the second Secretary of War at the time
Secretary Secretary of War of the United
States of America they used to call it
secret Department of Def uh War not
Department of Defense so his title was
Secretary of War not Secretary of
Defense so he decided to skip Kyoto
because he spent his uh honeymoon in
Kyoto and he does not want to to destroy
the uh the uh the shrines and temples
because he loved those uh places when he
visited during his uh his honeymoon and
that’s why when you go to Kyoto uh you
will see a bunch of
uh you will see a bunch of uh shrines
and and temples that were not that are
Untouched by the uh
damage of
uh World War
II and now I ended up in totally another
uh actually the hike took me
back to the same um entrance I guess
where I entered I entered there I think
or maybe that is another
entrance oh boy I don’t I don’t want to
to mess up my uh bus uh location I want
to get back to the
bus so I say do not limit yourself to
Kyoto what I mean is that consider Kyoto
and also consider other parts other
parts um of uh of
Japan parts that are not
uh well
popular and like I said you will find
them through um the
forums you will not find them through
the official uh tourist uh websites
because for some reason they don’t
promote them and if you watch my videos
watch my videos the previous videos you
will uh you will see those
towns and I am still exploring by the
way maybe that is the main
um the main entrance that I used earlier
I will explore them uh
later I will explore I mean more places
later and it will not be my La last trip
by the way I might even visit uh Japan
again maybe next year so it’s not going
to be the last trip because there are so
many so many places to visit Japan is
huge yeah that is the same stair back so
now let’s go let’s go to the uh to the
shrine and that Shrine is beautiful
too let’s go there
stfe pass hi hi
[Music]
all right I got to the
shrine I took the
bus took about 10 minutes from that
beautiful place that I
visited
earlier and the admission here is is
free to enter this beautiful
Shrine the ruler of
suai back in
1607
ordered the
uh order to um to
build this uh beautiful
Shrine and it looks like uh also it
looks beautiful like the other place
that I
visited but
uh we will
see if this place is actually
better or
not so almost every every Temple and
shrines that I visited in Japan requires
some kind of uh a
climb which is a
good exercise for
me see the good
thing about uh so
traveling and moving from one place to
the next is that uh you do a lot of
workout I look at it as
almost better than going to the
gym you know because you you always
move your
body always
moves because your
body is designed mind to
move as opposed to
sitting on the
chair for a long
time my kind of work when I was
working
full-time I was a software developer
sitting on a chair for minimum 8 hours a
day coding writing
software writing
code and algorithm
problem solvings and all that kind of
stuff but now because I am traveling a
lot I don’t have to go to the gym
anymore
because what I do is
actually the the
gym unless if I want to lift
weight which I
do about three times a week almost every
most
hotels that I stayed
at have some kind of uh Fitness uh
Center that that have access to uh
weightlifting uh
equipment wow it looks like it’s a
beautiful uh comp complex
to to
explore and also when I do these kind of
videos
vlogging on talk in this is also good oh
now I deal with this kind of noise
interrupted my uh process of uh
thinking I lost my trend of thought I
don’t know what I was going to
say what I was going to say is that when
I do this kind of
videos and I walk and I capture a
footage is that
um is good for your
brain because when you talk that is also
Sonic a good
exercise for your
brain and also you practice uh you
practice um public
speaking see it’s very it’s very very
very I can say it I can tell you this
very very very difficult to speak in
public especially when you are in a big
crowd like this and you point a camera
on your face and you speak without
worrying about what people will
say that requires a lot of Courage
requires a lot of uh big thick skin
which means I don’t worry about what
people will say about me when I do this
in public in front of people crowd
talking to the
camera that in
itself is a good
practice for public
speaking because what I have learned
over the course of my life no matter
what you study if you’re if you’re
young if you are if if if you are one of
those people who are still young going
to school studying
whatever most of my old
already um are over 40 years old but if
you happen to be one of those uh young
people I can tell you this no matter
what’s no matter how good your measure
that you’re studying in you’re a doctor
you are an engineer you are a lawyer you
are a
salesperson I don’t care if you do not
if you’re not good in public
speaking uh your chance of success will
not be that
high so practice public speaking while
you’re still
young and if you happen to
be uh in your 40s or in your 30s and you
you have kids that go to
school keep that in mind one of the most
one of the most valuable skills in life
for your kids to teach is public
speaking that
means let your boy or or
girl um speak practice in front of big
group while they’re still
young so let them get used to that so
that when they grow when when they grow
up when it when when time comes to
uh to go to uh the job workplace when
they get a job in the future after they
graduate for
school that would not be a problem for
them Let’s uh let’s wait for this uh
truck to go because it’s noisy okay that
noise is
over you see this is what I come across
every time I film I do my filming I come
across these kind of issues noise from
traffic from truck from people a lot of
distractions so I was I was talking
about um public
speaking so uh since most of my audience
are already in the their 40s and 50s
most likely you have kids that are still
going to college if they happen to be
still young and and 10 years old 7 years
old 12 years old let them uh practice
speaking outside when they are in front
of people so that when they get uh when
they become uh see the truck is coming
back again I hope he doesn’t come
back I hope he goes
away so when they when they go to
college and they take those kind of
classes that um that requires uh
presentations they’re not going to be uh
scared and
also from my experience see I I was a
software engineer software developer
public speaking is very important
because I had to do a demo uh most of
the time I had to explain to a big group
of people what uh What uh program I
designed and what uh features I
developed so that requires some kind of
uh public speaking when you do your
presentation in front of uh uh managers
and uh product developers other other
Pro uh product managers
and all that kind of
stuff so my point is doing these kind of
videos the walk and talk is a good
practice for for that kind of stuff the
uh the public speaking is good for the
brain my brain good exercise for my
brain and also your brain becomes active
in choosing the the right
word and uh compose in the right
sentence on the spot on the spot without
following a script see I am talking to
you now on the camera as you can see I
don’t follow any script I don’t read I
don’t have a paper in front of me
reading word by word like what you see
on other videos they uh they they they
practice and they memorize the script I
don’t do
that and that is why when I do uh my
present ation at
work most of the time I don’t even uh I
don’t even practice what I was what I’m
I’m going to uh say in my
presentation I uh I just uh add lip most
of the
time because it become
uh um second nature for me to do that
see this is a public toilet I like uh
I like Japan because they have many many
public toilets and now I ended up in a
private uh residential area all right
right there see one day I I I want to um
stay in uh one of those
apartments just to feel to get a sense
of uh living in Japan as a local person
as opposed to staying in uh hotels
because I got tired of the hotel room
rooms but I’m having a hard time finding
uh Airbnb accommodations big Apartments
because they’re all fully
booked because most of my plants travel
plants are
spontanous which means requires uh
requires planning way in advance and I
don’t do that and that’s why I have a
hard time finding Airbnb accommodations
but I will find one I actually found one
in Osaka for 2 week uh
stay so that will be in May next
month you see when I am in a quiet area
such as this
one and then I
see maintenance
work it really kills the uh ruin the
experience it really does
every time I see
a maintenance uh
work going
on in a nice area see if I keep walking
down there maybe I see a beautiful uh
beautiful
place see
uh
so back to public
speaking so it’s I in my
opinion it’s really
uh really an important uh skill to
develop while you are still young but
once you get
old uh it’s going to be very very very
challenging because uh I think
uh I heard that the second uh the um a
lot of people have a fear of uh of
public speaking
think that kind of fear is after death
so death is fear number one and public
speaking is number
two and this is why if I had a
son or a
daughter I will focus uh more on
teaching them how to be
comfortable uh being in public being in
public and talking to
strangers in front of big group of
people that they don’t
know so uh I will let them practice more
and
more while they are still young so that
when they grow up when they have a job
or when they go to college they don’t
have that fear anymore because they
developed that skill when they were
young you
see that is the first thing that I would
uh teach them the second thing that I
would teach them is the second
language if their first language happens
to be uh English then I would focus I
would let them uh learn either
Spanish or Arabic and I chose Spanish
because Spanish is widely spoken in many
many countries in Latin America South
America and uh Spain of
course and uh Arabic or or Arabic
because Arabic is also widely spoken in
almost 24 countries in North Africa and
Middle
East so that’s if their first language
happens to be English but if their first
language is not English then of course I
would let them
learn um English
as a as a second language see I speak
English as my second language but my
parents made a big
mistake and that is why I’m not going to
repeat the same mistake that my parents
made I would let my my my my kids if I
had kids by the way I would let them uh
let’s let uh let’s see what uh oh that
is a public uh restroom I’m trying to
see if there is uh another Trail to
walk while I uh in the process of
talking about this subject if I had a
boy or a daughter I would let them learn
foreign language before age 12 or before
age 10 because once their voice changes
at certain age um then then they will uh
they will not sound when they speak the
foreign language they will not
sound the same way as the native speaker
of that language sound and this is
exactly what happened to me I learned
English very late when I
was 19 years old that’s when I focused
on learning English when I came to the
United States to study computer science
before
I uh started my 4-year College uh
program I had to learn English as a as a
second
language but I learned English after
age
12 so when you learn English at after
that age the chance of uh speaking a
foreign language with an accent an
accent means you don’t sound the same
way as the majority of people who speak
that
language um then that chance will be
very very very
high so that is why I would let my my
kids
practice speaking um foreign
language while they’re still young

  1. Nice to see no trace of destruction that hit Sendai of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, 2011, which are called the Great Tōhoku Earthquake and the Great Sendai Earthquake. The day's events are also referred to as 3/11.
