Spending 16+hrs in an Ultra-Spacious Suite on a Japanese Ferry to Hokkaido

I’m taking Shin Nihonkai Ferry from Niigata to Otaru (Hokkaido). I booked the largest cabin on the ship. This route allows you to arrive in Hokkaido early in the morning.

  1. Wow. Even a man of my "extra dimension" would find this room most comfortable. Is Kikkoman a big brand in Japan? The food looked fabulous.

  2. Ooh, I ❀❀❀ unajyu! I had it for dinner last week! Your lunch looks soooo yummy! I always enjoy your ferry trips.

  3. Very cool! I hope to use this route later in the year, in the opposite direction. I hope a suite will still be available by then πŸ™πŸ»

  4. It looks like it was a comfortable trip, and the food looked amazing. Thanks for taking us on the voyage.

  5. I love it. I am taking notes as I watch your videos because you are travelling during the time frame that I plan to visit in 2026. Maybe we will cross paths then.

  6. I love that the ferry staff waves goodbye.
Thank you for another wonderful video Solo-san. πŸ₯°

  7. 15:51 – That lunch looks like it's perfect for me!

I was hoping to see more videos about how to get to Hokkaido and Sapporo from the greater Kanto or Tohoku regions of Honshu. I'm in the early planning stages for a Japan trip and am planning to spend a majority of my time in Hokkaido. I have an idea of how I'll get back to Tokyo from there, but I'm still not sure about if I want to get there quickly by Shinkansen, or slowly by Ferry or overnight bus.

    I always enjoy your videos

  8. Such a lovely suite, and a really beautiful dinner! Thanks as always for sharing your travels with us. πŸ»β˜•

  9. Around 23:30 I would say 'basket of utensils' or 'utility items' as identifier. I'm sure there's a fancier word.., maybe 'panier d’ustensiles' or 'Objets utilitaires' or some shlitz like that. Even the words 'Butlers Pantry' are not to far off from the purpose.

  10. Awesome as always, STJ! The room service food looked way too beautiful to eat! That's my kind of cruise. Get room service, chill out in the cabin, watch TV and take a nap!! (Yes, I am an American, lol!) πŸ˜†

  11. Seeing the karaoke room on board made me wonder why they're not on every ship. This is the first one I've noticed.

  12. Oh man…unagidon with tamagoyaki! I am hungry for eel now!

Yeah, you may not be a big fan of eel, but it's one of my favorites! Find me a place that serves unagidon, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki and you have a customer for life!

  13. You know, before finding your channel, I had no desire to go to Japan. Now, I want to go so bad ! But I would have to diet before going because the food looks so delicious ! Thank you again for another great video. By the way, I just planted my sunflowers 🌻 today 😊

  14. That eel looked 🀌🏾 I love eel!
    Your cabin looked 🀌🏾 also.
I wanna be like you when I "grow up" (I'm probably way older than you) Haha

  15. When he said β€œWhat’s in the box?” did anyone else picture an itsy bitsy Gweneth Paltrow head in there?

This was so fun, as always, STJ! Thank you! And that food looked absolutely stunning! πŸ’šπŸ™πŸ•ŠπŸ›³οΈ

  16. omg I live in Niigata and I already miss the old bus stop, it was one of the last if not THE last bus terminals in Japan to have the busses park in backwards. I also took the same ship route in March but in the opposite direction when I returned from my solo trip to Hokkaido!
