Rx8 or Toyota mark 2

Hi all, I’m currently on the fence about choosing to invest money in either a Toyota mark 2 or an Rx8 as my next weekend car. I’ve always loved mark 2’s but recently I have been tempted on owning a rotary as I’ve never owned a rotary before. The cars are both the same price.

The mark 2 is an auto and na 1jzge and is completely stock overall. It has 110K km and has only had one owner. There is no damage on the car and the paint is very good too. Interior is mint too. It has an extensive service history and has been very well looked after.

The Rx-8 is a manual 6 speed and has a bridgeported engine. Apart from the bridge port It has some mods such as an exhaust, lowering springs, and wheels. It has around 140,000 km on it. Whoever the engine was fully rebuilt about 2000km ago. It has no issues and has some service history and receipts as proof. The paint is in good condition too.

I know rotaries epecially the Rx8 are expensive and unreliable but just can’t decide lol and would like some advice and some info on what it’s like owning one and is it really worth putting money into it/what would I realistically expect.

Thanks 🙂

  1. rotaries arent as unreliable as the internet wants you to believe, just choose one build after 05, run it with premix and ocasionally run it hot. what i also do before parking is a quick burst of gas in neutral then turn the motor off while its at 6k or so rpm, reduces the build up of shit in your engine, never had any problems what so ever
