The mountain town of Nikko & Osaka shopping – Japan Vlog

Welcome to today’s video where we take you on a journey to the tranquil mountain town of Nikko! Join us as we immerse ourselves in the local culture by staying with a wonderful host family.

Our first stop is the awe-inspiring shrine of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603, which ruled Japan until 1868. Discover the rich history of this influential period as we explore the serene surroundings and learn about the town’s fascinating past.

As the misty fog blankets the mountains, Nikko proves to be the perfect retreat, offering a peaceful conclusion to our adventure in Japan.

But the excitement doesn’t end there! We hop on the Shinkansen, Japan’s renowned bullet train, and head back to Osaka. In Osaka, we dive into some shopping and visit a quaint park that served as the backdrop for an indie film.

so we missed the original train we
wanted cuz we didn’t know have to get
down here we’re going to Noco but
thankfully um a really nice lady helped
us get here cuz we would never have
known how to get here no it’s a little
like extra ticket booth out the way on a
on the platform that you have to go
through so and the guy helped us buy a
ticket and then he’s just realized to
give us the wrong change so he’s just
come running after us to give us the
right change but we got to wait here for
an hour now cuz it it’s the original
train um but yeah there’s no way we
would have known B to come I can’t even
know how to describe it to you we’re on
a limited Express and the only thing
really is to follow the signs of The
Limited Express but we didn’t know that
we were on a limited Express start
with um but if you want to go from Tokyo
to NOA go on The Limited express it came
to 3,300 Yen between us and that’s £1 19
between us so just under £10 each and
it’s about an hour and a half the
journey is but it’s not direct but it’s
only a couple of stops yeah to get up
there
so yeah but now we’ve got to wait here
for an hour for hey yeah so we got a
nice view of some trains going past yes
we would never ever ever know to be here
so thank you to that lady that helped us
it’s funny cuz last time we was in Tokyo
we had a little old man helping us cuz
again we didn’t know where we were going
that was trying to get back to the
airport we only we made our flight home
with 9 minutes to spare last time it was
here the check out closed that was uh
stressful yeah very stressful but we
managed it that was about a thousand
different trainings to get to the
airport
but so yeah we’ll see you in Thea
got these bags far too heavy this is
where we’re staying these bags are
getting heavy niiko Stay
Hotel
um we’ll tell you how much it cost
inside yeah it’s not
expensive uh but this is the last leg of
our trip before we go back to before we
go back to Osaka well Osaka then home
yeah
[Applause]
yeah so the owner of our home stay that
we’re staying at has jenal all the way
Bo over here and said um told us about
to get back and this is one of the main
spots to come and see in the COA she
didn’t have to drive was ear bless she
just lovely she was just like come quick
come come on come on come on before it
gets dark
[Music]
this
okay thank you
who’s a happy
egg just for reference it’s qu 4 and
this is the second drink of the
day so we just start eating our dinner
and she came and brought
us the this it says I pray for the
safety of the trip and folded a crane
for you please make a good trip IQ is
that and she also gave us something else
that she makes a little shell a little
shell
keying as a little gift it’s so
cute m
sushi for
breakfast your’s favorite my favorite
well you don’t like seed
either but everything else is
lovely she’s the CEST person in the
world quite literally she won’t stop
driving us everywhere we’re like oh we
might go to the shrine today she’s like
I’ll drive you she’s not done it to
anyone else is staying with her by the
way
to say that this is probably the worst
bit of weather we’ve had I’d say we’ve
been pretty
lucky also it sort of makes it a bit of
a v you look it’s all up in the in in
the mountains in the mountains all the
mountains have got like uh Mist all over
them well this is the first day of rain
that we’ve had it’s not been a travel
day yeah
yeah it’s splashing in my
face so this is 1,300 Yen which is about
£780 um we haven’t got an audio guide
that’s an extra 1,000
yen um I was hoping that there’d be some
more signs to read but it seems like
there are a couple so we’ll see how it
is at the
end this is one of the most
extravagantly decorated gates in Japan
consisting of 508
carvings um it’s got dragons and
mythical creatures on the top levels and
then the lower levels have got people on
it which represent ideals and
stuff um and then the pillar on the
left to the back which I’ll show you in
a minute was built upside down so it was
never officially considered Complete
because being complete would invite bad
luck just bought our fortunes for 100
yen
uncertain look oh mine’s fairly good
look relationships don’t socialize too
widely I got to tell me
twice oh mine’s good enough so I’m going
to keep
it are you going to tie yours to the
thing no well even though it’s fairly on
yeah it’s all
right so you can see on these cuts
all of the Spiral pointed
up except
for this one here where they pointed
downwards upwards as
well um and that’s because as soon as
something reaches a state of perfection
it begins to
deteriorate so if it’s never fully
finished it’ll never get bad luck
so this was only open to the public in
1965 and then that
there is a storehouse coated in Copper
that protects official Imperial
documents not sure if they’re still
there
[Applause]
but and then underneath that pig
is Lord takawa which is probably
pronounced very
wrong it was made in
1683 this is the only permanent
temporary Shrine in Japan which is a bit
of an
oxymoron but what it means is that when
the main Shrine is being
repaired they put all the deities and
statues and stuff in
here uh and then usually this is
dismantled after the main one’s repaired
but because that Shrine is being
repaired so often this is just kept up
[Music]
we want to be on the right side which is
going to be
imposs so we’re on our way back to Osaka
Tokyo bullet train 2 and 1 half hours on
here here um so we’ve got one of the
famous meals that heat them up it takes
about 10 minutes for it to heat up
properly I’ve got no idea what it is cuz
it wasn’t really left on the Shelf I’m
thinking it’s some sort of be
St
um we’ll see how it
goes give you an in-depth Food review
yeah
all the way out or I don’t know yeah I
think so just come all the way
out
already oh my God it’s instantly hot
that’s
hot spicy
ni looks like I’ll be having most of
that then cuz we were just going to
share
it basically we brought these ones
thinking they heated up and they didn’t
and I thought I’m not not trying one of
the ones that heat up so we went and
found one that actually did heat up and
just brought one of them to
share
yay Mount
Fuji again
[Music]
here we are at East day osak osak it is
the last place we’re staying a that’s a
cute view it’s a nice view um and we’re
flying home in a few
days don’t like it up here
hey if you know you know about to say
that if you know where we are then you
know where we are if you don’t then
don’t watch the video
Yeah found a Trinket Shop turn around
Lauren
you got enough stuff everything’s uh
useful but also animal related wait I’ve
already got one of them I don’t need
another one them actually look it’s
rabbit it’s rabbit shade but you use it
to open pots oh my god oh
no we’ve managed to find another
shop basically identical but we still
spent about half an hour in here at
least it’s got more stuff in it the
other one was just smaller it’s the same
shop but this one’s got more in it so
yes I Haven got another basket full of
things so we come to itcher in again
some people say because it is a chain
Ramen place that light is
terrific cuz it is a chain Ramen place
um some people say why you C to go into
it however we really enjoyed it so we
are Qing again to go into it and yeah
probably there are a lot better ones but
this is cheap it’s it’s not even well to
beir it’s cheaper than the
other that Ren in Kyoto
soad yeah but it’s got a really nice
bro the duck R was incredible though
actually I would have that in a
heartbeat
yeah so you want the
strawberries thank
you I’ve strategically waited for the
last day to try these because everyone
says how amazing they are and I knew if
I tried them on the first day I would
want them every day so I’ve waited till
the last day and we brought some for 350
Yen each so 700 Yen total and if you
don’t know strawberries are extremely
expensive in Japan so
yeah that’s true
wait I don’t know if I’ve taken enough
pictures one
second that is
[Music]
nice well it’s come to that point in the
trip we have to say goodbye 100 pan
hello 30 or 35 hours of
traveling yeah this is a long trip back
