Chef Evan Funke is a steward of Italian cooking traditions and culture, and at Mother Wolf, he pays tribute to la cucina Romana – a mosaic of ancient, pastoral, and urban culinary heritage. Mother Wolf honors Rome’s mythological origin story of Remus, Romulus, and the Lupa Capitolina. all right guys we are at Fountain Blue
about to eat at mother wolf this is Chef
Evan funky’s Italian restaurant really
excited to check this place out
apparently there’s another location in
La that books out like months in advance
so like people from La actually come to
this one just so they can eat at this
place so the back story of the name is
it was the twin brothers Romus and Remis
and there was a wolf that sort of raised
them in a way and those two sort of
became the founders of the city of Rome
so that’s kind of like a bit of the
backstory I’m not Wikipedia so you
better look that up to confirm and you
know make sure you get the right
information essentially it’s going to be
like an Italian restaurant really excit
check this out you guys know my channel
by now like I don’t go to a lot of
Italian restaurants on my channel
because I do eat a lot of Italian food
so Italian food is not my First Choice
by all means but I’ve heard nothing but
good things about this place let’s go
get some food so I do also want to
apologize in advance because there’s
going to be a many times I’m probably
going to call this place wolf mother uh
I don’t if you guys remember that old
rock band that had that song Woman I
don’t know where is but woman but anyway
mother wolf not wolf mother if I say it
I apologize we going to mother
wolf all right so we are in mother wolf
I really love the decor in here it’s
very it’s very dull but like like it’s
very classy in here so uh music-wise I
was expecting that only old school
Italian cell music it is not it is like
hip-hop and stuff but it’s still a fun
vibe um checking out the menu so there
is a little bit of an arithmetic to it
so you can order anything from the pan
section which is the bread so we did
order this Fon which is like a I heard
it’s nothing but good things about it
it’s basically like his take on a Pacha
but apparently he like spent like years
mastering this and apparently it’s
really delicious so I’m really excited
to taste that after that basic basically
you have to order everything at once cuz
me and Cody were basically banking on
okay let’s order nap let’s order this
let’s order that no let order like
everything at once so a bit of pressure
just be mindful of that maybe study the
menu before you come here um just so you
know what you want to get and there’s no
you know added pressure to it but anyway
we are going to wait for the S on to
come here I think we are going to get a
couple appies maybe a pasta maybe a
pizza kind of get show you guys a few
different options and we’ll go from
there all right so we have our s on this
is basically like a faka brush with
olive oil little bit of sea salt little
bit of oregano from Italy I was
basically described that this is
basically like eating a cloud oh my God
so okay I’m already cutting into this
and it is wild it’s basically just
falling apart hang on I got to hang on a
second okay so I was about to talk into
it it basically fell
apart what that the
help
so that’s way I describe it it’s like a
Savory Crispy Cream you cut into it it’s
so light and Airy it basically melts in
your mouth it’s got a nice like salty
taste to it obviously from the crush you
know like sea salt on
top amazing I’m already loving this I
would gladly spend
$150 this is so
good all right so I think we mistakenly
ordered something that I’m not too
excited about this is the Brisa which I
was anticipating you know like tomatoes
like the typical Brisa this is Al e so
uh aliche I’m assuming is uh enov and
the B obviously is butter so this has
like you know anchovies on top
parsley
um yeah I think Cody’s going to be EA
most of this like I do eat fish but I
really don’t like anchovies I find them
to be like too much of a fish taste so I
am going to take one for the team though
so if you’re not subscribed to my
channel now would be a good time to say
you know what Daniel we appreciate the
work that you put into your videos for
us that you’re going to eat anchovies
which are disgusting so here we
go okay it’s not bad I still don’t like
an trophies I still would not order this
again especially at like whatever price
it was I don’t remember I think it was
at least like 11 or 12 bucks or
something like that or literally one
slice of bread with a few Anchovies and
some pesto on top not my favorite I’ll
see how Cody feels about this cuz I’m
not eating any more of that correction
that Bretta quote unquote was $20 so if
you like Anchovies and aren’t afraid to
spend $20 for a slice of bread I
encourage you to order it all right so
we I ordered the gumberry and salsa VAR
so basic like shrimp in like a green
salsa type sauce I’m gutted to see that
these have the heads on them still I
remember when I went to Italy they came
like that and I about I had a heart
attack so yeah essentially what you’re
looking at is a shrimp with the head on
so I’m going to try and take it
apart okay okay so that was probably for
presentation cuz it actually came off
very easy I am going to take a oh it’s
very
hot I am going to take a bite out of it
though with my thingers I probably
shouldn’t be doing it this but

M okay so don’t let that discourage you
with the head on it’s actually very very
good it looks a lot more intimidating
than it is but it’s really not that bad
at all sauce is very good I don’t even
know how to describe it I know it’s a s
severity but it’s not spicy at all just
very Savory very very delicious Cody is
going to try the P pety I’m not a
meatball guy these are like a short R
pul pety we’re going to let you know
what they are like I don’t eat meat so
he’s going to get me uh a bit of his
feedback all right so Cody did get the
petti so ppet is basically like a
meatball these are actually oxtail
meatballs in like a pomodoro sauce like
a tomato sauce with uh a like a bit of
cheese on top like a Romano peino I
believe um best way Cody described it
was that it is not a meatball but a ball
of meat so this is like shredded ox tail
it’s not like your typical beef meatball
I think meatballs usually have like a
bit of pork a bit of meat bit of this
bit of that the other these are just
oxtails so a little bit different from
your typical meatball these look like
they have a bit of a crisp on the
outside as well but uh all in all okay
flavor okay taste everything they’re
going down okay so I think that’s the
main thing all right so we got one of my
favorite pizzas that’s just a margarita
pizza it’s very basic it’s just like
Buffalo mozzarella tomato sauce bit of
Bas a little bit of this bit of that but
uh yeah very very simple this looks like
it was pretty well done the crusts do
look a little bit crisp but yeah we’re
going to check this out momentary it
looks delicious
okay so this is a very very thin crust
it’s sort of like the I think it’s like
the napoletana style so very thin Airy
crust let me get that cheese there it’s
very well done too you can see like the
Char on the ends
there let’s take a little bit of a
bite this is like a really well balanced
thing you’ve got this with acidity from
the sweet sess and theny from the tomato
sauce you got the you know creaminess
from the mozzarella cheese you got that
bit of crisp from the uh dough and the
the crust and everything really really
good I’m going to definitely be
destroying this it’s very light too so
like when I saw this big pizza coming I
that actually bit nervous thinking oh my
God we got a lot of food coming but very
light very eerie we also did get this
tarelli it’s like a a thicker almost
like spaghetti like noodle we got the K
Pepe type style which is basically
cheese and black pepper so I’m going to
get a little bit of

this all right so I am going to try a
little bit of this Cy pepper this is not
usually my typical style I’m not a big
pasta eater at the best times you know
carbs are the enem me but I am going to
give this a try because it does look
really really good again this is very
peppery again not my typical you know
thing I would order but let’s see how
this is so the noodles are that like
really perfect Al Dente I usually like
do like my pasta nul to be a little bit
on the softer side but these are like
the perfect Al Dente just a little bit
of a bite to them the cheese is super
super creamy the black pepper gives a
little bit of a bite to it which is
really nice but it’s not aggressive at
all cuz it’s just black pepper it’s not
spice it just gives a little bit of a a
bite really really good I know Cody’s
going to love this as well we are going
to dig into this and uh give you our
sort of final thoughts a little bit
later okay so we got a lemon and Orange
Blossom so we’re going to give this a
little try a bit of a sorbet bit of a
pilet
cleanser
uh oh my God it’s very tart very sweet
though but wow so refreshing this is a
little bit of a crustally this is sort
of like an Italian pastry um sort of
like a fried dough basically and they
make this little crusty thing I’m going
to save that for Cody I do love that
it’s in the shape of a bow tie for
Fountain Blue obviously so yeah they
they do stay on brand even in uh mother
wolf so anyway I’m going to have a
little bit more of this hopefully if Co
lets me and we’re going to give you our
final thoughts after we leave

here all right so let’s talk mother wolf
I almost said wolf mother again woman
all right so mother wolf um I would say
definitely elevated Italian food that’s
the I guess the easy way to describe it
uh our bill came about $150 as you saw
we ordered a lot of stuff I really tried
to show you guys a lot of different
things off the menu we got a you know a
couple of the pan options the bread
options sadly not the stand out for me
was that fuka oh my God it was like like
I said to you it was almost like a
Savory Crispy Cream that like crispiness
but softness on the sorry crispiness on
the outside softness on the inside the
saltiness from that like crushed like uh
sea salt on top the olive oil the
oregano oh my God it was just such a
delicious experience they Lally said it
was like a cloud and that’s yeah it was
a cloud it was amazing I want to order
10 more that pascetta for me was a pass
Cody really enjoyed it but personal
preference for me I didn’t really love
it just because I’m not a big anov fan
um I didn’t really read the menu I just
saw breta and like most people probably
assumed it was going to be like tomatoes
and onions and you know olive oil basil
whatever it wasn’t that so just you know
be forewarned that if you’re ordered
Metta it’s not going to be that they do
have seasonal menus as well so you know
that could change I know for example
they have a vongola which is like a clam
Linguini which they didn’t have this
time which I heard from um Vegas with
Shin was really really good if you check
out his channel he I know said great
things about it but uh yeah
unfortunately that wasn’t on the menu um
the second things we ordered were a
couple of appetizers Cody had the petti
I think that it’s not maybe what he was
expecting I think we kind of forgot that
it wasn’t exactly a meatball it was more
of like a ball of meat like you said it
was like a a ox tail so I know he said
he was still good but like you know
maybe wouldn’t avord it again the
shrimps didn’t wow me I mean they
weren’t bad they just didn’t wow me per
se like the Sal severity didn’t have a
whole lot of a punch but uh they were
still cooked really well I wasn’t
expecting to come with the heads on it
but like I said when I went to Italy I
know that’s how they came before so I
guess we’re going for authenticity they
delivered that Margarita Pizza though
wow that was delicious uh I’m not a huge
eater I know I I tend to like have a few
bites and end up passing on to Cody but
I definitely put a pretty good dent in
that pizza it was delicious I would say
maybe a little bit too well done around
the edges it was a little bit black from
the crust so maybe a bit well done in
that sense but otherwise really really
good you had that nice softness from the
dough very airy didn’t feel heavy at all
but you still had that nice like salt
saltiness and creaminess from that um
Buffalo mozzarella and that nice like
saltiness and you know acidity and
sweetness also from the tomato sauce so
so good obviously that b basil you know
Leaf kind of balanced it all that as
well really good again the catchy Pepe
not something I would normally order but
again really enjoy it creamy peppery
good that you know the the pasta was
again a little more alente than I’m used
to but still went down very easily one
thing they did mention to us is that
they get their flower FL in from Italy
so they said that their stuff actually
is
glutenfree I would double check that
because like I don’t have a gluten
tolerance as far as I know anyway so if
you do have a gluten intolerance I would
say double check that because uh that
could be you know something that you may
want to consider if you you know do have
that you know intolerance that maybe you
do want to check out mother wolf to see
if maybe that is a good place for you to
get Italian food because it was Cody’s
birthday recently they did bring us out
a lovely dessert it was like basically
like a uh I think an orange sorbet again
really really good all in all really
good the ambience in there is really
cool too you walk in there I almost felt
like it was in the bagio it was very
classy in there very elevated looking
very just really cool like classy
Italian Vibes yet they were playing
classic hi hip-hop which you know the ju
Theos of that was you know not lost to
me at all it was very not what I was
expecting and really really I I I had a
good time I actually really enjoyed it
our host was you know always on top of
us always making sure everything was
okay you know the service was great they
were bringing stuff in and out our
Waters kept being refilled everything I
have no complaints about that my one
maybe gripe which if I have to pick
something was just the ordering style I
didn’t love that he had to order
everything right from the beginning I
would love if we could maybe have
ordered the bread been like wow that
Bread’s great let’s order more of that
rather than ordering the bread and
having to order every single thing that
we wanted after that wasn’t a huge fan
of that but otherwise have nothing bad
to say about mother wolf see I did it
again oh I did it right it’s mother wolf
have nothing bad to say about it uh
really enjoyed it um again great place
to go if you’re looking for that
elevated Italian style food which you
know if you’re looking for something to
stand out there’s so many restaurants in
Las Vegas especially Italian restaurants
so i’ say that you know definitely worth
the hype go and check out mother wolf um
anyway but let me know what you guys

  2. That looks like a nice meal, Happy belated birthday, Cody!
    Thank you for your effort tasting the anchovies, I know its not fun! We ordered a pizza in a cafe in France many years ago that we thought was cheese because it was just labelled "Pizza" – Turns out it was fish pizza with anchovie paste – it was rather a shock, to say the least, lol.
    I look forward to visiting Fontainbleau, won't be able to afford most of the food but it looks nice!

  3. Good job taking one for the team with the anchovies lol. The ox tail meat ball looked good! The pizza is to thin for me. lol Wolf Mother… that's all I see and hear when I see video's at this place. It's pretty cool looking and then they're playing classic hip hop lol
    P.S. You have the same mics as me lol. You should just clip it to your shirt, still picks up the sound great.
