Hiroshima boasts a well-developed train network that efficiently shuttles you around the city and neighboring areas. Here’s a breakdown of the train systems you’ll encounter in Hiroshima:
JR Trains (Japan Railways): This is the main intercity train system in Japan. Hiroshima Station is a major stop on the Sanyo Shinkansen Bullet Train Line connecting Hiroshima to other major cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo.
Bullet Trains (Shinkansen): The fastest way to travel between cities. Hiroshima Station is a stop on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, connecting you to Shin-Osaka Station (approximately 1 hour 40 minutes) and Hakata Station in Fukuoka (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes). Different Shinkansen train types operate on this line:
Nozomi (Nozomi): Fastest Shinkansen trains, limited stops (requires additional fare on JR Pass).
Hikari (Hikari ): Makes more stops than Nozomi but still a fast option (covered by JR Pass).
Sakura (Sakura ): Stops at most stations (covered by JR Pass).
