Explore The Best Of Osaka’s Street Food Tour On The Ultimate World Cruise.

On The Ultimate World Cruise Our expert guide took us to five amazing restaurants to experience the delicious food of Osaka Japan. Eating out in Japan is an adventure, especially in Osaka, I can say without a doubt that most of the best meals of my life were Japanese. The Dontonbori area of Osaka is packed with incredible restaurants and we experienced the best. We tried some mystery food that was salty but good. Turns out is was Stingray.

okay we are
in Osaka Japan this is our last stop in
Japan I think we’ve been to uh at least
six other
locations and today we are going on a
food
tour um not quite
sure where all or what all we’re going
to be doing or eating but it should be
fun we did a food tour in Hong Kong it
was a blast so uh let’s see what today
brings
our Australian guide took us to a
fascinating part of the city where there
was tons of little shops and little
restaurants this was the first one we
stopped at and it was a i they called it
a standing eating drinking
location yeah squeeze in what was the
name again T Tania
Tania now uh in Tania standing drinking
dining bar so first thing is uh drinks
now on the tour today you get two
complimentary drinks one at this place
here and the other one I will give you
are I’ll just show you my little
schedule at this place it’s a whiskey
bar so I picked those two
places yeah this is the standing
drinking dining dining bar we pass any
can you spell that I’ve ordered a really
strong it doesn’t like it very much at
all it’s not used to it it’s either left
or right or
right
do on a billboard and a oh you smile you
that was a good year I uh I took a whole
group of go ahead go ahead go ahead
that’s good it is like hor radish but
it’s good yeah it’s a radish Japanese
radish it’s called D no the I mean the
mustard which you wouldn’t think would
be
that was Japanese radish with
mustard and it was really quite good
okay
this all right and what is this called
again
Adam yuy so just think of the city pompe
and replace the P with a t PPE
ppee Y and yucky means
cooked good you’ll get a lot of yucky
food in Japan it just is pure hell you
have to do whatever your boss says just
to climb the ladder and that entails a
lot of the time working if you’re a boss
as a workaholic then uh you can’t leave
the office he until he does so you’re
stuck sometimes there till 11:00 if your
boss is an alcoholic then
uh cold it’s
cold and what’s the noodles called again
s s it’s called s oh
it’s like R yeah ramen’s a little bit
thicker and Salmon’s made with rice not
flour and then udon would be a little
thicker than that that’s made with flour
and S is made with buck whe that’s the
Brown I wrote it down but then I didn’t
take Pi it has a very interesting
PL there’s the sweet potato I really
like that
I’m not going to feed you any endangered
species it’s not
bad this is a mystery dish Laura’s going
to tell us what she thinks it is and
it’s cooked it is definitely cooked okay
it’s cooked and it’s not puffer fish and
it’s dead
yes now uh do you want to keep that
excitement about the puffer fish or do
you want me to take that while hold on
the
suspense Laura it’s some kind of
fish remember buy taste buds don’t work
oh the the mystery thing is a some kind
of fish I
know kind of salty dip it in the what di
it’s good it is good May it’s really
good not
sweet now I’m I’m going to give you I’m
going to give you the clue that always
gives it away yeah it killed Steve irn
oh it’s a
Stingray was a stingray we ate
good okay that was our first restaurant
our food stop four more to go and I’m
already full so this will be
interesting this is a statue of a famous
cook here not famous for what he uh the
quality but because he’d always come out
and yell at people if they double dipped
their uh their food into the sauce uh so
he was very famous for yelling at you
and this street we’re on was absolutely
fascinating uh to walk through and to
look at and
uh just a a fun place to
[Music]
be here is food stop number
two I probably need to walk around for
an hour just to burn off what I already
ate
okay Lura is putting the soy sauce in
her little
bowl she’s going to put the vinegar
in you want some chili oil not too
I so now it’s my turn okay we just found
out that that little button there is the
help button cuz I pushed it Carl thought
it was a decoration so we pushed it and
here came the help she was fast so I
mean that was fast if a hospital was
that fast they’d probably save
lives and these are this is
goza this is we buy
and the best way to grab these is to
stab
them good how we’re going to eat all
that I don’t know and this is only this
is only stock number
two yeah
we’ just finished stop number
two and I’m stuffed two more to
go this place is
amazing remember the chef uh the statue
of the chef I showed you that was famous
for yelling at people well here’s
another statue of him he’s up here
looking out the window this is actually
the first restaurant restaurant where he
worked um and here’s an octopus uh
restaurant that we were walking by that
was an omen of what was to come let’s go
to this Whiskey Bar
tradition take a
seat great
weather or the table here just wher you
can find SE all right guys SE there’s
food and you can start when you want but
I’ll explain to all of you in a
moment um first we going us
this cute little couple own the bar and
they didn’t speak that much English but
they were fun to be around you guys all
this food here is not on to anyone
El
home all right I’ll get to you guys
while you’re eating no
worries here very much homecooked food
this is what we have at home what my mom
would make
oh which is beef and potato plus carrot
and a little bit of salt and soy uh we
got this one seen this one before it’s
called
OCA uh it’s quite
and I have no idea what that
is and it’s look together
with okay I there was some kind of a
flavoring in there and then
sour
spicy strange
having some of this
food it’s a little
different Thea is not bad um so it’s in
dasy saucey is like again
Bonito yeah and then they got K like
seaweed they boil it for like many many
hours and they strain it didn’t get
it okay I got these little things if
most
importantly the drink at the whiskey
bar this must be four five month
old tastes
good so this is where we had our our
drinks it’s just basically called The
Whiskey Bar great little
place have Ace thank
you you thank
you was just a this is our fourth and
final stop and it is the
octopus bar or
restaurant here’s Laura taking a turn at
uh cooking and rotating octopus balls
[Music]
those are called octopus
balls and I’m going to
avoid saying any jokes about
that this place is called ichan Takaki
they’re very modest Ichiban means number
one it number number one number one
number one octopus balls one
of so we are eating
octopus balls Taco
Taco which is an octopus ball for the
brown plate was
the the one with the onions one the
other one
is okay okay little
chewy which is typical of octopus and
squid my Japanese friends too will say
it’s our drunk food so they Le six of
these
it’s
like well
interesting this one is a u a
citrus
h that one is a little stranger the
Citrus yeah I like it it takes a while
to get used to a lot of Japanese food do
think the Citrus I said to my wife don’t
smell puer fish yeah incredibly
poisonous fish I thought this was our
last
stop it’s called
Comfort I don’t know what comfort food
is in Japan but I’ll tell you in a
minute
CH
the yeah if you notice we’re right
across the road from the bar where we
were
before where we
start we’ll see if it’s soy size yeah go
for it they are marinated in lemon
pepper and what we call the SAU which
again is that soy sauce sugar and whsy
sheer sauce that would be something we
can make at home we can do tablesp of
sugar sugar not BR sugar no BR sugar if
you want to make it more Southern app
the lasses yeah definitely test taste
the
[Music]
pepper after finishing our last food
stop we said goodbye to our guide and
made our way
to the subway

I am a Coke addict. Always disappointed when I go somewhere and it’s a Pepsi place. Glad you had some good cokes that day. Always interesting to try new foods. If you don’t like it, you never have to have it again, but at least you tried. And if you like it, hopefully you can find it somewhere again. I taught junior high for 30 years. You didn’t have to make any jokes I had about a dozen floating through my head. Stay safe.
