Hiroshima Japan Tour of Peace Park & Museum in 4 Hours from the Cruise Port

We came into the Itsukaichiko cruise port on the Carnival Luminosa. Once we disembarked the ship we hopped on a courtesy shuttle bus to the Itsukaichi street car/train station. We purchased a 1 Day Streetcar & Ferry pass to get us to the Hiroshima Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Dome & Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Once we completed our tour of the museum we hired a taxi to take us to the ferry port. Here, we took the ferry to Miyajima Island. Please look out for our Miyajima Island video. Thank you for watching and coming along on our journey around the world.

good morning and welcome to hub’s
Journey today we are visiting our second
port in Japan it’s still pretty early
but we are Cruising Into the port just
outside of Hiroshima today will most
likely be a very difficult day to
witness we’ll be heading to the
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum
this is where on August 6th 1945 the US
dropped the first atomic bomb and
demolished the city in the middle of the
hyper Center stands the atomic bomb Dome
a world World herited site that stands
as a symbol of the horror of the atomic
bombing and a call for Eternal World
Peace we are also hoping to take the
ferry over to the mosima island to see
the itsukushima
shrine today we opted not to do an
Excursion through the cruise ship
instead we will be using public
transportation or a taxi to go to the
destinations that we want to see the
itsu Kishi Port is in the middle of the
destinations we wanted to see so we had
to make the decision on what area to
visit first we decided to head to the
hirosima peace Park first we also knew
that trying to do both this area as well
as the Mima area meant that we were
going to have to make the most of our
time and possibly not see everything but
we were going to try to do our best we
left the port on the courtesy shuttle
that took us to the itsu Shiki train
station and street car station when we
got off the shuttle bus there was a tent
with vendors selling tickets we
purchased the one one day street car and
Ferry Pass for 1,000 yen per adult this
was a crash only transaction when you
get the ticket you’re instructed to
scratch off the date by year month and
day we were also told that we needed to
show the one-day pass ticket to the
operator as we exit you could also ride
the street car by jumping on the street
car and then inserting cash on your exit
but since we knew we wanted to also take
the ferry later in the day this was our
best option the terminal was just short
walk away but we realized that we needed
to go up and over the tracks to get the
street car going in the correct
direction so we just got off the
elevator so we have to go on the other
direction down here down
there thank you yep right there’s the
sign atomic
bomb once we got onto the correct
platform we looked for the street
labeled Hiro Shima station which was
route number two all right we are on the
shuttle and we Tony what’s
happening the street car we took in the
morning had a digital monitor on the
train so we were clearly able to see
which stop we were along the Route the
car we took back later in the day didn’t
have this monitor so we kept track by
looking at the signs and the platform as
we approached each station and matched
it up with the map we had in both paper
and digital forms on our phone our stop
was the genbaku do or the atomic Dome
stop which was number
M10 once we got off the street car the
atomic bomb Dome was easily
visible we walked over and immediately
felt the sadness of this historic
location we were now in we took many
photos and videos because we wanted to
document our experience of being here
but we felt it was inappropriate to take
a photo of us in front of the Dome even
though we did see people doing
this instead we took a moment to pray
for all of those who suffered and
perished
spe
it was a beautiful day the Sun was
shining and the birds were singing and
while there was Street noise all around
us all those sounds seemed to fade away
and we had a very peaceful
moment for
we’re just coming from the um a
bomb Memorial and now we’re heading over
to the
museum well there’s some cherry blossoms
we’re going to have to get down there
and go check those cherry blossoms out
all of the memorial statues around the
park were just as beautiful and moving
as the next the Bell is part of the
children’s peace
Monument okay we are heading over to the
museum that’s the Eternal Eternal
Flame we were very fortunate to see all
of these memorials in person but each
did also weigh heavy in our hearts from
this vantage point you can see we are
standing in front of the center graph
for the a bomb victims it looks on to
the peace Pond the Eternal Flame of
pieace and the atomic bomb dome in the
background this was an absolutely
beautifully designed
Memorial all right hirosima
Memorial okay so we’re all in line right
now and we are at the memorial
and um we heard that it’s very graphic
and we’re going to see it for
ourselves while we were very excited to
get tickets from the museum we knew what
we were about to see was not anything to
smile about

the tour through the museum was very
difficult at times there were so many
images testimonials words paintings
drawings clothes and artifacts that were
heartbreaking to see all depicting the
tragic details of that moment in history
the museum also outlined some of the
relief stations and rescue activities d
life struggles of the survivors days
months and years after the bombing as
well as the construction of the peace
Memorial Park Museum and monuments all
erected to never forget this day in
history but to also remind us all to
pursue Harmony and prosperity for all
and year for genuine lasting world’s
peace thanks for coming along with us
today as we visited Hiroshima but stay
tuned for our second half of our day as
we make our way over to MIMA Island and
see the itsukushima shrine
