We take Japan’s FASTEST Bullet Train 🇯🇵

Today we take Japan’s fastest bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. The Shinkansen Nozomi 15 is (apparently) the fastest bullet train in Japan.
We’ve absolutely loved our time in Tokyo, by far our favorite city so far! But we’re ready to explore Kyoto now.

so good morning everyone from a cloudy but not 
too cold day here in Tokyo so today we actually  
leave Tokyo and we head for Kyoto now Kyoto is 
maybe the nicest most kind of traditional place  
in Japan to visit and we should get there just 
in time of the cherry blossom but the way we’re  
getting there is the fastest bullet train in Japan 
so we’re using a shanen I think it’s it Nozomi I’m  
not sure how to pronounce it but it’s Nozomi 15 uh 
and apparently that’s the fastest bullet train uh  
I didn’t realize there was different kind of like 
speeds of bullet trains but apparent there is uh  
we paid about £85 per ticket which is nearly $100 
per ticket uh it takes about 2 and 1/ half hours  
uh and we leave at 8:15 so going to be there soon 
we’re all packed up now just on our way and yeah  
by10 a.m. this morning we should land in Kyoto 
so exciting because we’ve only ever heard good  
things about the Japanese rail system uh we’ve 
used a Metro while we here but we haven’t yet  
used a bullet train and of course the bullet 
train is world famous for one reason uh it’s  
cuz it goes quick and it’s cool so yeah join us as 
we embark on our first of a Japanese bullet train
today so we do first need to actually 
catch a few Metro trains to get there  
how long’s JY yeah actually figure it out 
I think it’s only about that’s not bad so  
we starting Sosi underground station 
and we need to go to Tokyo station  
now I think it’s maybe two one stop two stops 
basically it’s a couple of stops away um and  
we need to get there cuz that’s like the 
main uh train station where you catch the  
bullet trains from so uh I mean God knows to 
be honest but it’s currently line purple line
okay yeah
we get the Jr super line okay how long it take 
all together 10 minutes 10 minutes that’s not  
bad what time is it now huh what time is it 
now uh 7:14 okay so we should have at least  
45 minutes uh from when we land in Tokyo Station 
to sort our tickets out and then get the train  
so we do actually need to pick our tickets up 
um we have to do it from like a little machine  
uh which might be confusing but hopefully it goes 
well um but I guess yeah let’s get to too station
safely right then so we’re in too station now 
we’ve just picked up the tickets for the bullet  
train which is a stress um like really stressful 
trying to find like machines and then you have to  
try and find people to help you find the machine 
really yeah I mean it’s our fault for not learning  
Japanese or knowing any Japanese but um I just 
can’t believe a little English to speak here it’s  
actually quite hard to get around when you don’t 
know what to do and where’s no one to help you but  
I think we’re here um it doesn’t it doesn’t help 
but the fact that everyone just takes their time  
everyone’s so slow in train stations like people 
just W in London everyone’s like stressed and like  
needs like has places to be so it makes a change 
but I think we’re here hopefully um I don’t know  
yet but it feels like we are we’ll confirm in a 
minute yeah okay then on the platform ready to go  
oh wow look at thato on the destination so we have 
made it nice after thinking for a minute there  
that we would make yeah so we’re getting on one 
of those bad boys um yeah it’s going to be a good
day so here it is it’s just arrived now uh have 
seen on the previous video that they do a bit  
of cleaning first I’m not sure if we can get on 
straight away or not but we’ll give it a try we  
still got about 20 minutes until it takes off 
so enough time to put our bags away and get  
comfortable we do have reserved seats so you can 
either do unreserved or reserved we chose reserved  
because it’s like a 2 and 1 half hour Journey so 
might be best you excited I am really excited we  
haven’t there cheers and we like if you’ve seen 
the film I’m just imagining it be that kind of  
yeah oh we can get on let’s go go put our stuff 
on I’ll give you a tour of the train itself um  
because there’s actually no one here at the 
moment so it might be easy to get our stuff
away there we go that’s all right nice strong 
e oh these are quite nice so then here we are  
we’re on the train um as you can see three seats 
here and two seats on this side like is this like  
um they classes this just standard I think they 
have different classes not too many maybe one or  
two classes I think this is standard could cost 
£35 though which is $100 so it’s a lot but for 2  
and a half hour journey to Kyoto it’s not too bad 
really 85 each each but let’s have a look around  
the Train the seat’s actually quite comfortable 
they’re not bad at all really nice let’s have a  
look um through here toilets to be fair they’re 
really nice they’re so clean smells good looks  
clean is clean doesn’t smell a piss like you 
have in India um you’ve even got all of this  
stuff I mean to me it’s over complicated that you 
don’t need all these funky buttons and stuff for  
a toilet seat I like toilet seats nice and simple 
sit on it get off see you later but this is like  
a little bit too complicated but it does it is 
warm you get the little Poe thingy with Jiggy so  
it is quite cool but for me not needed um that’s 
that and here you have so what is really cool with  
these toilets in Japan is you have uranos as 
well so look at this the men can just go for  
a urinal now this isn’t exclusive to the bullet 
train I had one on a normal train yesterday but  
I’ve never seen a urinal on a toilet before 
it makes sense because like men are always so  
much quicker than women and you’ve got a nice 
little mirror and a sink here which is quite  
nice actually then luggage storage and you’ve got 
locks as well that’s so cool there’s nothing worse  
being on train than having your like luggage 
somewhere you can’t see but the fact you can  
actually lock them up is really cool that’s 
like such such a nice touch um and then here  
down there you’ve got another Carriage so yeah I 
mean should be in for a good ride today another  
toilet here um hopefully do food coffee teas 
all that kind of jazz because we haven’t yet  
been able to have any because it’s so early uh but 
yeah nice let’s go see Beth see what she’s up to
you got no good yeah as it’s actually 
quite nice training H toilet’s nice yeah  
um haven’t seen any food carts or trolleys 
yet but maybe they come down with I think  
they will be here they will be on it it’s 
like a long distance train isn’t it yeah  
oh shansen free Wi-Fi free Wi-Fi service 
available on this train uh power outlets  
on your mobile phone um all that kind 
of Ja so not sure what that is actually
oh it’s under your seat it’s like a that one 
oh it’s cool yeah move these chairs back a bit  
up right can’t I get they are quite like see 
there’s actually a lot of room so people can  
move their chairs back and it’s not an issue 
at all cuz look how much leg room there is  
and the mirrors quite big actually look how 
big those mirrors are uh Windows sorry it’s  
yeah you to back Frankenstein 
I like his very ight I’m hungry
yeah so then this is what the tickets look like 
um I mean I can’t read Japanese so I don’t have  
a clue what any of them say I can see the sign 
that 8,360 Yen though I’m pretty sure we paid more  
than that we did Buck bar a third party so hence 
why it’s more expensive but this is the nozomi  
15 or Nomi or nazami 15 um and apparently it’s 
the fastest out of the fleet so so didn’t say  
too much on there about the Nomi 15 um but I 
did read somewhere that out of the shinan and  
trains uh the Nomi lines the 15 is the fastest so 
we’ll see how quick it goes um I’m sure hopefully  
it should say up there uh how fast it goes but 
let’s have a look at speed speed okay then so
um it goes to around 300 km an 
hour which is just under 200 mph I
think yeah so around 300 km an hour so 
we did actually go on one in Indonesia  
Jakarta the wor buet train and that went to 
350 km hour so this was actually slower than  
that I mean this one is a lot nicer but yeah 
I thought it was going to be faster actually  
still still pretty quick though so if we were 
to drive from Tokyo to Kyoto it take over 5  
and 1 half hours but this train takes just over 
two hours so I mean it’s a huge difference um  
and it’s really comfortable so yeah should be 
good good little journey be’s just gone to get  
coffees she’s taking a bit fine it’s like 7 p and 
we leave in 5 minutes so hopefully she’s going to  
be quick because the clock is ticking and I don’t 
want to leave her here actually I do want to leave
I’ll be trouble knows she is so we have 3 minutes 
to go be has arrived with the goods just I should  
have taken the camera yeah you should have 
taken the camera I did try and get it on my  
phone it was wild you like you actually get 
it from the vending machine oh really yeah I  
mean I’ve got the video on my phone so check 
out my Tik Tok Shin can and coffee they were  
350 Yen I’m not sure how much that works 
out to just done two which is great for a  
vending machine coffee and they hot cappuccinos 
as well that’s not bad is it they like spin the  
when like the whole machine like spins the 
lid on and everything P living in the future
I’m we’re on the Move we’re on the Move we’re on 
the move I don’t know when it starts like picking  
picking up speed maybe when we get out the city 
I think I wonder if it show I’m assuming it will  
show the yeah so I read and this one goes 300 km 
an hour the one in Indonesia went 350 km hour it  
did oh soart yeah CH oh yeah think Chinese oh 
I really hope they come around with food carts  
oh we had the cart maybe that because we had 
like more expensive seat first class yeah um  
yeah if you guys want to know what an Indonesian 
bu train is like I’ll pin in the comment below  
and you can watch that video because it’s actually 
quite cool and it’s a Chinese bullet train as this  
one’s a Japanese so it’s cool to compare actually 
but yeah we’re on the move when we go up to speed  
I’ll pick the camera back up and let you know 
at the moment it’s like stand yeah yeah I hope  
we see some nice sites as well yeah I don’t know 
what the journey to Kyoto is like find out we so  
then the time is now 10:00 which means we’ve been 
on here for 1 hour and 45 minutes now I think we  
have around 45 minutes to go maybe half an hour 
to go um where are we on the map we are see if  
it loads the Wi-Fi isn’t great yeah the Wi-Fi 
is not great I mean it’s it works a little bit  
but it’s just not great um I think we have the 
next stop but oh no that say way B yeah so we’ve  
just left ngoya and then we’re going to Kyoto so 
I think we at the next stop um we’re not too far  
away look if you can see Kyoto’s there we’re 
there um so it’s not too far away at all now  
it’s actually so easy to get around Japan yeah 
it is isn’t it like it’s so quick so easy like  
it makes me kind of wish well I wish I kind of 
did more STS now yeah yeah I mean we did go past  
and through the Goya I didn’t really see too much 
there to be honest so I’m glad we haven’t stopped  
there I feel like Kyoto will be the nicest stop 
of the where theow monkeys are I’m not sure maybe  
might be up there as you can see um we have some 
small Mountain views here well I say that and oh  
is there snowy ones is there oh yeah it’s quite 
cool actually I’ll try and get it it’s not very  
good day today it’s a bit um gray Andy yeah 
it’s a bit gray um what’s the weather saying  
for the next couple of days should we see green 
probably no not not all right then Kyoto let’s  
have a look size load brilant that’s not good no 
way that’s not good at I thought was all week then  
Wednesday’s nice on Wednesday so there’s a lot 
of rain we have an umbrella yeah we in where do  
we bu that jakata oh yeah I think everywhere 
we go rain follows us yeah it does doesn’t it  
come somewhere peak season and then rain yeah 
but we’ll be there soon in the rain not good
so we are just about to arrive now so I think 
we’re going to go in there station um Coto
station not entirely sure but we are literally 
about 2 seconds away now so we’re going to get  
off this train which has actually been a 
really pleasant journey it’s been really  
quick it’s just taken just over two hours 
so not bad at all um we’re going to find  
somewhere to store our luggage cuz it’s 
only 10:00 and we can’t check until 4:  
and then we’re going to explore Kyoto for a 
while so yeah I mean hopefully we find somewh  
to S our luggage soon and then we can uh get 
off and start exploring this incredible City  
just checked our train in9 minutes that’s nice 
to our hotel is yeah that’s not bad at all is
it I’m excited for this one should be good
here we go touchdown in Kyoto oh 2 hours later 
and we are here let’s go find somewhere to leave  
our luggage and then we can explore and 
see what this uh City’s got to offer enjoy  
that that enjoy it yeah it was all right 
to be fair nice it really quickly yeah
lock okay so we finally found some lockers 
that was actually really stressful because  
the vast majority of lockers are taken um and we 
spent a good 10 minutes walking up and down this  
aisle here trying to find lockers for our s to fit 
and that cost 700 Yen for the big Locker which is  
actually quite it’s not no it’s not actually like 
£350 so it’s not that expensive at all really um  
I think we can leave in there all day uh maybe 
even 24 hours I’m not sure but yeah that’s what  
we paid 700 Yen for one like this um and then mine 
was slightly smaller yeah which luckily could fit  
the small suitcase in which is 500 yeah not bad 
so aned it from my backing what was wrong with  
yes [ __ ] didn’t even put a backpack of stuff in 
there I didn’t put everything in I I panicked to  
yeah they were quite squeeze yeah they were no 
actually you would not um but now let’s go to  
explore get some food cuz I’m absolutely starving 
and we haven’t actually yet eaten because what I  
did realize was the fact that they don’t serve you 
food on the train be in mind we paid 85 each which  
is £170 per Journey um you don’t get fed which is 
strange because every other time we’ve got a nice  
train you get fed on it so yeah I mean the only 
issue I have with the bullet train is the fact  
don’t get feds or even water teas coffee 
nothing so you really don’t get anything  
for your money um but I mean we’re here now 
so can’t complain too much and let’s go and
explore right we’re in and exploring Kyoto 
now we were just saying we don’t really know  
what our preconceptions ideas were before 
coming here but we thought it was going to  
be a little bit different not as built up more 
kind of traditional Trad um and so far it kind  
of looks a bit like Tokyo uh now we are kind 
of in the middle of the city center of Kyoto  
so maybe that’s why um maybe when you kind 
of get to the outskirts it all changes and  
things like a bit more Kyoto uh so right now it’s 
near we’re going to have to cross over there um
it’s if we’re going to cross there 
might cross there we just SC down  
that do we um there’s already a que for 
restaurant up there I just love seeing  
restaurants to be good that’s one thing about 
Japan I don’t like is the fact you have to  
queue outside for restaurants I like to get 
in get out that’s it he gets very moody when  
he’s hungry I don’t like queing for restaurants 
he get very hungry anyway what I was saying was  
uh we found a nice katsu curry place and it’s an 
hour’s walkway and it’s currently 11:00 so by the  
time we get there it’s going to be 1200 which is 
lunchtime um but we’re going to explore the city  
first because an hour walk is actually quite 
a while and we should see a lot hopefully so  
yeah anything interesting on the way we’ll show 
you might we yes stressfree and happy Spirits I
hope right then I think we should 
have our restaurant around here I  
think well is it around that one 
that looks like catus to Me Maybe
May yeah I don’t know in there maybe yeah 
this one oh yeah should I see let me get  
my Google translate up you know what it’s 
called in English yeah so really good thing  
about when you travel is having the Google 
Translate app you can press the camera and  
then you can take like a photo and it will 
transfer take out oh yeah look Caton cat oh  
these look mental actually yeah they do 
look good don’t they that one looks nice  
what they say what’s that one then cat B with 
egg that looks mental sauce cat done miso oh  
yes I mean it smells incredible out here so 
let’s get inside that looks good as well look  
at that one that’s well nice it’s got how a catsu 
so then they’ve kindly provided us with an English  
menu and we’ve decided what we’re going to go for 
I’m going to go for the pork loin cutlet the aatu  
curry and I’m going to have this on there as well 
I don’t exactly know what this is I think it might  
fried chicken and sauce broth I really don’t know 
but I’m going to go for it um that should come to  
a total of 1,400 Yen which is about £7 so not too 
bad little bit more expensive than some places  
went to in Tokyo but I mean not bad compared to 
England prices I guess uh what’s this one saying  
actually it a set of oh yeah pie fried set with 
shoulder set that must be for shoulder I don’t
know oh know that one you want not that one 
so beths has arrived and that sauce smells  
incredible doesn’t it it looks unreal MH they 
do only do pork here I don’t know if you really  
talk through that they do only do pork here 
so pork’s not my number one choice of meat  
but it smells amazing I think it’s going to be 
really really nice here we go hold that fish got  
chicken takes a few minut okay fine thank you 
the chicken yeah oh you going for the soup as  
well there yeah and some fried chicken that we’re 
just waiting on yes but let’s get involved shall
we how is it m was it good mhm I’m actually 
really really enjoying it yeah I mean just  
had a couple of mouthfuls and it’s really 
nice the only issue is the the serving size  
of the catsu cage aren’t usually that big I 
could always do with a little bit more um I  
haven’t yet tried this it feels really 
hot no it’s well too hot I try that in  
a bit way too hot to try that actually 
I’ll give it [ __ ] it I’ll give it a go
to taste like the stuff you get in a Ramen 
Raymond whatever you call it um nice yeah  
absolutely fine um this is lovely but 
we’re going to wrap it up here for now  
uh we’re going to spend the rest of the 
day exploring Kyoto but everything we do  
in Kyoto is going to be in a separate video 
this was all dedicated to the bullet train  
but we’re here now with fed um and today’s 
going to be a good day so next Vlog will be  
the best things to do in Kyoto so thank you very
