#Japan #Bullettrain #Tokyo #Kyoto

so good morning everyone from a cloudy but notĀ
too cold day here in Tokyo so today we actuallyĀ Ā
leave Tokyo and we head for Kyoto now Kyoto isĀ
maybe the nicest most kind of traditional placeĀ Ā
in Japan to visit and we should get there justĀ
in time of the cherry blossom but the way weā€™reĀ Ā
getting there is the fastest bullet train in JapanĀ
so weā€™re using a shanen I think itā€™s it Nozomi Iā€™mĀ Ā
not sure how to pronounce it but itā€™s Nozomi 15 uhĀ
and apparently thatā€™s the fastest bullet train uhĀ Ā
I didnā€™t realize there was different kind of likeĀ
speeds of bullet trains but apparent there is uhĀ Ā
we paid about Ā£85 per ticket which is nearly $100Ā
per ticket uh it takes about 2 and 1/ half hoursĀ Ā
uh and we leave at 8:15 so going to be there soonĀ
weā€™re all packed up now just on our way and yeahĀ Ā
by10 a.m. this morning we should land in KyotoĀ
so exciting because weā€™ve only ever heard goodĀ Ā
things about the Japanese rail system uh weā€™veĀ
used a Metro while we here but we havenā€™t yetĀ Ā
used a bullet train and of course the bulletĀ
train is world famous for one reason uh itā€™sĀ Ā
cuz it goes quick and itā€™s cool so yeah join us asĀ
we embark on our first of a Japanese bullet train
today so we do first need to actuallyĀ
catch a few Metro trains to get thereĀ Ā
how longā€™s JY yeah actually figure it outĀ
I think itā€™s only about thatā€™s not bad soĀ Ā
we starting Sosi underground stationĀ
and we need to go to Tokyo stationĀ Ā
now I think itā€™s maybe two one stop two stopsĀ
basically itā€™s a couple of stops away um andĀ Ā
we need to get there cuz thatā€™s like theĀ
main uh train station where you catch theĀ Ā
bullet trains from so uh I mean God knows toĀ
be honest but itā€™s currently line purple line
okay yeah
we get the Jr super line okay how long it takeĀ
all together 10 minutes 10 minutes thatā€™s notĀ Ā
bad what time is it now huh what time is itĀ
now uh 7:14 okay so we should have at leastĀ Ā
45 minutes uh from when we land in Tokyo StationĀ
to sort our tickets out and then get the trainĀ Ā
so we do actually need to pick our tickets upĀ
um we have to do it from like a little machineĀ Ā
uh which might be confusing but hopefully it goesĀ
well um but I guess yeah letā€™s get to too station
safely right then so weā€™re in too station nowĀ
weā€™ve just picked up the tickets for the bulletĀ Ā
train which is a stress um like really stressfulĀ
trying to find like machines and then you have toĀ Ā
try and find people to help you find the machineĀ
really yeah I mean itā€™s our fault for not learningĀ Ā
Japanese or knowing any Japanese but um I justĀ
canā€™t believe a little English to speak here itā€™sĀ Ā
actually quite hard to get around when you donā€™tĀ
know what to do and whereā€™s no one to help you butĀ Ā
I think weā€™re here um it doesnā€™t it doesnā€™t helpĀ
but the fact that everyone just takes their timeĀ Ā
everyoneā€™s so slow in train stations like peopleĀ
just W in London everyoneā€™s like stressed and likeĀ Ā
needs like has places to be so it makes a changeĀ
but I think weā€™re here hopefully um I donā€™t knowĀ Ā
yet but it feels like we are weā€™ll confirm in aĀ
minute yeah okay then on the platform ready to goĀ Ā
oh wow look at thato on the destination so we haveĀ
made it nice after thinking for a minute thereĀ Ā
that we would make yeah so weā€™re getting on oneĀ
of those bad boys um yeah itā€™s going to be a good
day so here it is itā€™s just arrived now uh haveĀ
seen on the previous video that they do a bitĀ Ā
of cleaning first Iā€™m not sure if we can get onĀ
straight away or not but weā€™ll give it a try weĀ Ā
still got about 20 minutes until it takes offĀ
so enough time to put our bags away and getĀ Ā
comfortable we do have reserved seats so you canĀ
either do unreserved or reserved we chose reservedĀ Ā
because itā€™s like a 2 and 1 half hour Journey soĀ
might be best you excited I am really excited weĀ Ā
havenā€™t there cheers and we like if youā€™ve seenĀ
the film Iā€™m just imagining it be that kind ofĀ Ā
yeah oh we can get on letā€™s go go put our stuffĀ
on Iā€™ll give you a tour of the train itself umĀ Ā
because thereā€™s actually no one here at theĀ
moment so it might be easy to get our stuff
away there we go thatā€™s all right nice strongĀ
e oh these are quite nice so then here we areĀ Ā
weā€™re on the train um as you can see three seatsĀ
here and two seats on this side like is this likeĀ Ā
um they classes this just standard I think theyĀ
have different classes not too many maybe one orĀ Ā
two classes I think this is standard could costĀ
Ā£35 though which is $100 so itā€™s a lot but for 2Ā Ā
and a half hour journey to Kyoto itā€™s not too badĀ
really 85 each each but letā€™s have a look aroundĀ Ā
the Train the seatā€™s actually quite comfortableĀ
theyā€™re not bad at all really nice letā€™s have aĀ Ā
look um through here toilets to be fair theyā€™reĀ
really nice theyā€™re so clean smells good looksĀ Ā
clean is clean doesnā€™t smell a piss like youĀ
have in India um youā€™ve even got all of thisĀ Ā
stuff I mean to me itā€™s over complicated that youĀ
donā€™t need all these funky buttons and stuff forĀ Ā
a toilet seat I like toilet seats nice and simpleĀ
sit on it get off see you later but this is likeĀ Ā
a little bit too complicated but it does it isĀ
warm you get the little Poe thingy with Jiggy soĀ Ā
it is quite cool but for me not needed um thatā€™sĀ
that and here you have so what is really cool withĀ Ā
these toilets in Japan is you have uranos asĀ
well so look at this the men can just go forĀ Ā
a urinal now this isnā€™t exclusive to the bulletĀ
train I had one on a normal train yesterday butĀ Ā
Iā€™ve never seen a urinal on a toilet beforeĀ
it makes sense because like men are always soĀ Ā
much quicker than women and youā€™ve got a niceĀ
little mirror and a sink here which is quiteĀ Ā
nice actually then luggage storage and youā€™ve gotĀ
locks as well thatā€™s so cool thereā€™s nothing worseĀ Ā
being on train than having your like luggageĀ
somewhere you canā€™t see but the fact you canĀ Ā
actually lock them up is really cool thatā€™sĀ
like such such a nice touch um and then hereĀ Ā
down there youā€™ve got another Carriage so yeah IĀ
mean should be in for a good ride today anotherĀ Ā
toilet here um hopefully do food coffee teasĀ
all that kind of jazz because we havenā€™t yetĀ Ā
been able to have any because itā€™s so early uh butĀ
yeah nice letā€™s go see Beth see what sheā€™s up to
you got no good yeah as itā€™s actuallyĀ
quite nice training H toiletā€™s nice yeahĀ Ā
um havenā€™t seen any food carts or trolleysĀ
yet but maybe they come down with I thinkĀ Ā
they will be here they will be on it itā€™sĀ
like a long distance train isnā€™t it yeahĀ Ā
oh shansen free Wi-Fi free Wi-Fi serviceĀ
available on this train uh power outletsĀ Ā
on your mobile phone um all that kindĀ
of Ja so not sure what that is actually
oh itā€™s under your seat itā€™s like a that oneĀ
oh itā€™s cool yeah move these chairs back a bitĀ Ā
up right canā€™t I get they are quite like seeĀ
thereā€™s actually a lot of room so people canĀ Ā
move their chairs back and itā€™s not an issueĀ
at all cuz look how much leg room there isĀ Ā
and the mirrors quite big actually look howĀ
big those mirrors are uh Windows sorry itā€™sĀ Ā
yeah you to back FrankensteinĀ
I like his very ight Iā€™m hungry
yeah so then this is what the tickets look likeĀ
um I mean I canā€™t read Japanese so I donā€™t haveĀ Ā
a clue what any of them say I can see the signĀ
that 8,360 Yen though Iā€™m pretty sure we paid moreĀ Ā
than that we did Buck bar a third party so henceĀ
why itā€™s more expensive but this is the nozomiĀ Ā
15 or Nomi or nazami 15 um and apparently itā€™sĀ
the fastest out of the fleet so so didnā€™t sayĀ Ā
too much on there about the Nomi 15 um but IĀ
did read somewhere that out of the shinan andĀ Ā
trains uh the Nomi lines the 15 is the fastest soĀ
weā€™ll see how quick it goes um Iā€™m sure hopefullyĀ Ā
it should say up there uh how fast it goes butĀ
letā€™s have a look at speed speed okay then so
um it goes to around 300 km anĀ
hour which is just under 200 mph I
think yeah so around 300 km an hour soĀ
we did actually go on one in IndonesiaĀ Ā
Jakarta the wor buet train and that went toĀ
350 km hour so this was actually slower thanĀ Ā
that I mean this one is a lot nicer but yeahĀ
I thought it was going to be faster actuallyĀ Ā
still still pretty quick though so if we wereĀ
to drive from Tokyo to Kyoto it take over 5Ā Ā
and 1 half hours but this train takes just overĀ
two hours so I mean itā€™s a huge difference umĀ Ā
and itā€™s really comfortable so yeah should beĀ
good good little journey beā€™s just gone to getĀ Ā
coffees sheā€™s taking a bit fine itā€™s like 7 p andĀ
we leave in 5 minutes so hopefully sheā€™s going toĀ Ā
be quick because the clock is ticking and I donā€™tĀ
want to leave her here actually I do want to leave
Iā€™ll be trouble knows she is so we have 3 minutesĀ
to go be has arrived with the goods just I shouldĀ Ā
have taken the camera yeah you should haveĀ
taken the camera I did try and get it on myĀ Ā
phone it was wild you like you actually getĀ
it from the vending machine oh really yeah IĀ Ā
mean Iā€™ve got the video on my phone so checkĀ
out my Tik Tok Shin can and coffee they wereĀ Ā
350 Yen Iā€™m not sure how much that worksĀ
out to just done two which is great for aĀ Ā
vending machine coffee and they hot cappuccinosĀ
as well thatā€™s not bad is it they like spin theĀ Ā
when like the whole machine like spins theĀ
lid on and everything P living in the future
Iā€™m weā€™re on the Move weā€™re on the Move weā€™re onĀ
the move I donā€™t know when it starts like pickingĀ Ā
picking up speed maybe when we get out the cityĀ
I think I wonder if it show Iā€™m assuming it willĀ Ā
show the yeah so I read and this one goes 300 kmĀ
an hour the one in Indonesia went 350 km hour itĀ Ā
did oh soart yeah CH oh yeah think Chinese ohĀ
I really hope they come around with food cartsĀ Ā
oh we had the cart maybe that because we hadĀ
like more expensive seat first class yeah umĀ Ā
yeah if you guys want to know what an IndonesianĀ
bu train is like Iā€™ll pin in the comment belowĀ Ā
and you can watch that video because itā€™s actuallyĀ
quite cool and itā€™s a Chinese bullet train as thisĀ Ā
oneā€™s a Japanese so itā€™s cool to compare actuallyĀ
but yeah weā€™re on the move when we go up to speedĀ Ā
Iā€™ll pick the camera back up and let you knowĀ
at the moment itā€™s like stand yeah yeah I hopeĀ Ā
we see some nice sites as well yeah I donā€™t knowĀ
what the journey to Kyoto is like find out we soĀ Ā
then the time is now 10:00 which means weā€™ve beenĀ
on here for 1 hour and 45 minutes now I think weĀ Ā
have around 45 minutes to go maybe half an hourĀ
to go um where are we on the map we are see ifĀ Ā
it loads the Wi-Fi isnā€™t great yeah the Wi-FiĀ
is not great I mean itā€™s it works a little bitĀ Ā
but itā€™s just not great um I think we have theĀ
next stop but oh no that say way B yeah so weā€™veĀ Ā
just left ngoya and then weā€™re going to Kyoto soĀ
I think we at the next stop um weā€™re not too farĀ Ā
away look if you can see Kyotoā€™s there weā€™reĀ
there um so itā€™s not too far away at all nowĀ Ā
itā€™s actually so easy to get around Japan yeahĀ
it is isnā€™t it like itā€™s so quick so easy likeĀ Ā
it makes me kind of wish well I wish I kind ofĀ
did more STS now yeah yeah I mean we did go pastĀ Ā
and through the Goya I didnā€™t really see too muchĀ
there to be honest so Iā€™m glad we havenā€™t stoppedĀ Ā
there I feel like Kyoto will be the nicest stopĀ
of the where theow monkeys are Iā€™m not sure maybeĀ Ā
might be up there as you can see um we have someĀ
small Mountain views here well I say that and ohĀ Ā
is there snowy ones is there oh yeah itā€™s quiteĀ
cool actually Iā€™ll try and get it itā€™s not veryĀ Ā
good day today itā€™s a bit um gray Andy yeahĀ
itā€™s a bit gray um whatā€™s the weather sayingĀ Ā
for the next couple of days should we see greenĀ
probably no not not all right then Kyoto letā€™sĀ Ā
have a look size load brilant thatā€™s not good noĀ
way thatā€™s not good at I thought was all week thenĀ Ā
Wednesdayā€™s nice on Wednesday so thereā€™s a lotĀ
of rain we have an umbrella yeah we in where doĀ Ā
we bu that jakata oh yeah I think everywhereĀ
we go rain follows us yeah it does doesnā€™t itĀ Ā
come somewhere peak season and then rain yeahĀ
but weā€™ll be there soon in the rain not good
so we are just about to arrive now so I thinkĀ
weā€™re going to go in there station um Coto
station not entirely sure but we are literallyĀ
about 2 seconds away now so weā€™re going to getĀ Ā
off this train which has actually been aĀ
really pleasant journey itā€™s been reallyĀ Ā
quick itā€™s just taken just over two hoursĀ
so not bad at all um weā€™re going to findĀ Ā
somewhere to store our luggage cuz itā€™sĀ
only 10:00 and we canā€™t check until 4:Ā Ā
and then weā€™re going to explore Kyoto for aĀ
while so yeah I mean hopefully we find somewhĀ Ā
to S our luggage soon and then we can uh getĀ
off and start exploring this incredible CityĀ Ā
just checked our train in9 minutes thatā€™s niceĀ
to our hotel is yeah thatā€™s not bad at all is
it Iā€™m excited for this one should be good
here we go touchdown in Kyoto oh 2 hours laterĀ
and we are here letā€™s go find somewhere to leaveĀ Ā
our luggage and then we can explore andĀ
see what this uh Cityā€™s got to offer enjoyĀ Ā
that that enjoy it yeah it was all rightĀ
to be fair nice it really quickly yeah
lock okay so we finally found some lockersĀ
that was actually really stressful becauseĀ Ā
the vast majority of lockers are taken um and weĀ
spent a good 10 minutes walking up and down thisĀ Ā
aisle here trying to find lockers for our s to fitĀ
and that cost 700 Yen for the big Locker which isĀ Ā
actually quite itā€™s not no itā€™s not actually likeĀ
Ā£350 so itā€™s not that expensive at all really umĀ Ā
I think we can leave in there all day uh maybeĀ
even 24 hours Iā€™m not sure but yeah thatā€™s whatĀ Ā
we paid 700 Yen for one like this um and then mineĀ
was slightly smaller yeah which luckily could fitĀ Ā
the small suitcase in which is 500 yeah not badĀ
so aned it from my backing what was wrong withĀ Ā
yes [Ā __Ā ] didnā€™t even put a backpack of stuff inĀ
there I didnā€™t put everything in I I panicked toĀ Ā
yeah they were quite squeeze yeah they were noĀ
actually you would not um but now letā€™s go toĀ Ā
explore get some food cuz Iā€™m absolutely starvingĀ
and we havenā€™t actually yet eaten because what IĀ Ā
did realize was the fact that they donā€™t serve youĀ
food on the train be in mind we paid 85 each whichĀ Ā
is Ā£170 per Journey um you donā€™t get fed which isĀ
strange because every other time weā€™ve got a niceĀ Ā
train you get fed on it so yeah I mean the onlyĀ
issue I have with the bullet train is the factĀ Ā
donā€™t get feds or even water teas coffeeĀ
nothing so you really donā€™t get anythingĀ Ā
for your money um but I mean weā€™re here nowĀ
so canā€™t complain too much and letā€™s go and
explore right weā€™re in and exploring KyotoĀ
now we were just saying we donā€™t really knowĀ Ā
what our preconceptions ideas were beforeĀ
coming here but we thought it was going toĀ Ā
be a little bit different not as built up moreĀ
kind of traditional Trad um and so far it kindĀ Ā
of looks a bit like Tokyo uh now we are kindĀ
of in the middle of the city center of KyotoĀ Ā
so maybe thatā€™s why um maybe when you kindĀ
of get to the outskirts it all changes andĀ Ā
things like a bit more Kyoto uh so right now itā€™sĀ
near weā€™re going to have to cross over there um
itā€™s if weā€™re going to cross thereĀ
might cross there we just SC downĀ Ā
that do we um thereā€™s already a que forĀ
restaurant up there I just love seeingĀ Ā
restaurants to be good thatā€™s one thing aboutĀ
Japan I donā€™t like is the fact you have toĀ Ā
queue outside for restaurants I like to getĀ
in get out thatā€™s it he gets very moody whenĀ Ā
heā€™s hungry I donā€™t like queing for restaurantsĀ
he get very hungry anyway what I was saying wasĀ Ā
uh we found a nice katsu curry place and itā€™s anĀ
hourā€™s walkway and itā€™s currently 11:00 so by theĀ Ā
time we get there itā€™s going to be 1200 which isĀ
lunchtime um but weā€™re going to explore the cityĀ Ā
first because an hour walk is actually quiteĀ
a while and we should see a lot hopefully soĀ Ā
yeah anything interesting on the way weā€™ll showĀ
you might we yes stressfree and happy Spirits I
hope right then I think we shouldĀ
have our restaurant around here IĀ Ā
think well is it around that oneĀ
that looks like catus to Me Maybe
May yeah I donā€™t know in there maybe yeahĀ
this one oh yeah should I see let me getĀ Ā
my Google translate up you know what itā€™sĀ
called in English yeah so really good thingĀ Ā
about when you travel is having the GoogleĀ
Translate app you can press the camera andĀ Ā
then you can take like a photo and it willĀ
transfer take out oh yeah look Caton cat ohĀ Ā
these look mental actually yeah they doĀ
look good donā€™t they that one looks niceĀ Ā
what they say whatā€™s that one then cat B withĀ
egg that looks mental sauce cat done miso ohĀ Ā
yes I mean it smells incredible out here soĀ
letā€™s get inside that looks good as well lookĀ Ā
at that one thatā€™s well nice itā€™s got how a catsuĀ
so then theyā€™ve kindly provided us with an EnglishĀ Ā
menu and weā€™ve decided what weā€™re going to go forĀ
Iā€™m going to go for the pork loin cutlet the aatuĀ Ā
curry and Iā€™m going to have this on there as wellĀ
I donā€™t exactly know what this is I think it mightĀ Ā
fried chicken and sauce broth I really donā€™t knowĀ
but Iā€™m going to go for it um that should come toĀ Ā
a total of 1,400 Yen which is about Ā£7 so not tooĀ
bad little bit more expensive than some placesĀ Ā
went to in Tokyo but I mean not bad compared toĀ
England prices I guess uh whatā€™s this one sayingĀ Ā
actually it a set of oh yeah pie fried set withĀ
shoulder set that must be for shoulder I donā€™t
know oh know that one you want not that oneĀ
so beths has arrived and that sauce smellsĀ Ā
incredible doesnā€™t it it looks unreal MH theyĀ
do only do pork here I donā€™t know if you reallyĀ Ā
talk through that they do only do pork hereĀ
so porkā€™s not my number one choice of meatĀ Ā
but it smells amazing I think itā€™s going to beĀ
really really nice here we go hold that fish gotĀ Ā
chicken takes a few minut okay fine thank youĀ
the chicken yeah oh you going for the soup asĀ Ā
well there yeah and some fried chicken that weā€™reĀ
just waiting on yes but letā€™s get involved shall
we how is it m was it good mhm Iā€™m actuallyĀ
really really enjoying it yeah I mean justĀ Ā
had a couple of mouthfuls and itā€™s reallyĀ
nice the only issue is the the serving sizeĀ Ā
of the catsu cage arenā€™t usually that big IĀ
could always do with a little bit more um IĀ Ā
havenā€™t yet tried this it feels reallyĀ
hot no itā€™s well too hot I try that inĀ Ā
a bit way too hot to try that actuallyĀ
Iā€™ll give it [Ā __Ā ] it Iā€™ll give it a go
to taste like the stuff you get in a RamenĀ
Raymond whatever you call it um nice yeahĀ Ā
absolutely fine um this is lovely butĀ
weā€™re going to wrap it up here for nowĀ Ā
uh weā€™re going to spend the rest of theĀ
day exploring Kyoto but everything we doĀ Ā
in Kyoto is going to be in a separate videoĀ
this was all dedicated to the bullet trainĀ Ā
but weā€™re here now with fed um and todayā€™sĀ
going to be a good day so next Vlog will beĀ Ā
the best things to do in Kyoto so thank you veryĀ
much for watching and Iā€™ll see you in the next one

  1. If you want to get on the Shinkansen in Japan, buy Ekiben at the station in advance and eat it on the train. There are many kinds of Ekiben. You can't say you got on the Shinkansen unless you eat Ekiben. You don't want to stand in line for delicious restaurants in Japan, but restaurants with lines are such popular and famous markers for delicious restaurants. If you don't want to stand in line, you can go to Yoshinoya's Gyudon or convenience store. It's cheap, fast, and the taste is not bad. Since you came all the way to Japan, you should follow the rules to stand in line and eat delicious Japanese food. Foreigners are impatient. In Japan, it's a rule and a manner to stand in line. Don't you need expensive unnecessary tips like in foreign countries?

  2. Yeah, people are calm in transit in Japan because they usually are very early. No rush, no panic. But places do get crowded especially Tokyo, because there's almost 40 million people in that megalopolis.
