Welcome to KOB Japan KOB is the third largest port city in Japan and it’s located on the north side of the Osaka Bay making it a great day trip from Osaka it’s a place where the east meets the west and the old meets the new in this video we’ll learn

A little bit about CO’s history as we tour its streets we’ll start by enjoying some of the finest local beef in the region we will then tour one of the oldest Shinto shrines in the entire country dating to the 3rd Century we’ll wander through a Charming Urban

Forest we’ll enjoy one of the best cinnamon cappuccinos I’ve ever had we’ll see some interesting Western styled houses on the top of a mountain side nearby we remember the victims of the 1995 earthquake at this Memorial by the port and finally we’ll tour the streets of Chinatown at night before

Making our way back to Osaka to get to go Bay from Osaka you’re going to take a train most likely and that train is going to be the a train on the a line which appears on platforms 5 and six you’re going to be on platform

Five if you’re trying to go towards coob from Osaka you’re going to wait in a line just like this and eventually your train will arrive they come every 15 or 10 minutes depending on the day and time once you arrive in coob you’re going to follow the signs to the exit and

Depending on the exit that you’re going to use you might come to a crosswalk that looks like this coob is fairly easy to navigate just stay on this main drag to the left of that crosswalk and you’ll find all the best shops and eateries we’re going to take this elevator up to

The second floor of a building because we’re going to eat some of the best coob beef in all of Japan when we go inside this restaurant we’re entering another world we’re going to have a typical tabany but with a authentic Japanese flare although this meal might be a bit expensive costing about

$70 it comes with a lot of things including several courses and an entire experience we’re going to have green tea get to sample some of this fine pumpkin soup judge the quality of our Kobe beef from the chef in front of us have a delightful salad that is one of the best

I’ve ever had and watch a skillful Artisan cook one of the best meals I’ve ever Tasted this meal comes with rice tons of sauces as well as some lessons on how you should eat your steak piece by piece and with Wasabi salt pepper and garlic you’re able to make sure that that each bite is unique and absolutely delicious each of these pieces of steak were the

Best that I’ve ever tasted they completely dissolve in the mouth even the fat which is normally left off on things like ribey were rendered down and used in dishes right in front of us they were put inside these bean sprouts and cooked up to be one of the best

Vegetables I’ve ever tasted and yes I keep on saying the best because this is one of the best meals I’ve ever had with our bellies full it was time to VIs visit some of the nearby historical sites and we’re going to start off with one of the oldest Shinto shrines in all

Of Japan this is a CA Shrine it was built by Empress jingu in about the year 200 and she built the shrine here because she was nearly Shipwrecked but thanks to praying to watatsumi a water deity she was spared death and to thank the deity she built this beautiful

Shrine that we can still tour today just behind the shrine though is another thing worth visiting it’s a little kind of quiet area in the middle of a very Urban modern city it’s an Old Forest it’s not large but it’s a great way to escape from some of the crowds in coob

Especially as some of the buses roll into the area late in the afternoon I recommend spending about a half hour here just quietly taking in some of the views and strolling through parts of the temple complex such as this archway while you stroll through here just

Imagine that this is the last bit of wood that remains around the temple Shrine that would have been around here until about the 19th century after relaxing in the garden it was time to get caffeinated we found the start of the western side of coob and we immediately saw this little coffee shop

Which had been around for quite a while they roast their own coffee grounds and everything from the aroma to the Ambiance is exactly what you want in a coffee house especially when you start to get a little tired around 3:00 in the afternoon I highly recommend it I’ll

Have a link in the description down below to where you can find it inside this coffee house you’re immediately taken into Western Europe everything from the music to the coffee to the aroma to The Vibes it’s all feels like you’re sitting in a German coffee house everything on the menu is

Delicious but I highly recommend this right here this is a cinnamon cappuccino and it’s the house special it comes with this lovely piece of cinnamon bark shoved right in the middle of the cup and it adds an aroma and quite a bit of flavor after this we head it down into

Katano the traditionally foreign area of coob this is where all the Diplomat settled and everything is here from Pizza Hut drivers to Starbucks and a colonial looking house this is a beautiful part of the city and it’s up on a cliff side it comes with amazing

Views not only of these houses but also of the city down below we’ll see that in just a second you can see everything from Ry houses that were built by German Architects to houses that look like they’re built in the northeast of America maybe somewhere like Connecticut everything here is only about a

10-minute walk up hill from the main city center it’s well worth a visit I highly recommend though not just taking a look at these old western style houses but also taking a trek up these daunting steep stairs you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the city down below as

Well as a really pretty Shinto shrine this Shinto Shrine has an old history but one of the best things you can do up here is walk through the grounds and see this cow it’s considered good luck to rub its nose remember that Shinto shrines across Japan typically close

Around 500 or 5:30 so make sure that you get up here before Sundown spend a few minutes up here strolling through the grounds but don’t spend too much time because you want to make sure that you get back down before the sun goes down so you can take in a couple more sights

Before you have to go back to Osaka you want to backtrack a little bit and go back into the main market area but you’re going to walk straight to the port the reason for this is because the port while often times overlooked by tourists has one of the most important

Memorials in the entire city of coob the city of coob experienced a massive earthquake in 1995 it destroyed hundreds of thousands of buildings left 45,000 people homeless and killed nearly 6,000 people this is one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in human history the memorial has not only this

Wonderful video that that you can watch that lights up and shows you exactly how the earthquake unfolded over the short period it also has this little part of the port that was preserved to show the destructive nature of this earthquake I highly recommend taking a little stroll

Through this area and taking in this somber reminder of a very devastating part of Japanese history you can’t leave coob Japan however without visiting Chinatown this is a story Ally where the Chinese populations lived in cobay for several hundred years the street today is lined with different shops and restaurants you

Can find everything here to make you feel like you’re in a little part of China you can visit this during the day and more shops will be open but I highly recommend visiting at night because at night this little part of the Town comes to life unfortunately for us it was time

For us to head back to Osaka everything that you’ve seen in this video we did in about 5 or 6 hours meaning you can easily do this in a half day if you’re staying in Osaka if you’ve enjoyed this video remember to like And subscribe and

Stick around on this channel as I tour the world for several more years I’ll be posting content on Japan for the next month or so but after that they’ll be Korea and then off to Europe once again
