MotomachiThese days, the cold is gradually easing and the spring breeze is starting to feel refreshing. It’s the season when the footsteps of spring make you want to go outside.This time, we’ll be visiting some of our favorite shops in Nishimotomachi, Kobe. All of these are restaurants that I would heartily recommend, so

I hope you’ll read them all the way to the end. (*Compiled from visits on weekdays and holidays) First, let’s start with this cute shop with a Union Jack flag. As you ascend the somewhat steep stairs to the second floor, you will be introduced to the world of simple yet gentle British sweets.

Sweets that mothers seem to make by hand in British homes. For a while, I was hooked on watching “The British Bake Off,” so when I visited the store for the first time, I remember being so impressed by the idea that there was a store where you could enjoy authentic baking ♡

🥰These scones I also highly recommend it. I took out the scones and enjoyed them at home for afternoon tea… Although the scones were simple, they had a strong wheat flavor. It’s moist and delicious. It also goes well with jam! Next, we headed to Motomachi Shopping Street.

Motomachi is called the “former town of Kobe,” and its shopping street has a history of over 140 years. It is said that the town’s landscape has been preserved through urban development based on the keywords of “luxury,” “stylish,” and “elegant.”

We will visit the Matsuo Building, which is located just after entering the arcade from Nishimotomachi Station. This is a retro building built in 1920, and houses a gallery and stylish shops. The building was originally a department store, so it has a somewhat high-class atmosphere…

And it also has Japan’s oldest manual elevator for customers. The manager came on a weekday, so I gave him a ride. It’s like an attraction! However, contrary to my expectations, the climb up and down was smooth ☺ Thank you very much for this very valuable experience.

This clock-like floor indicator is also still in use! Next, take the stairs to the 4th floor. When you open the door, you’ll see a beautiful white world… This is an accessory shop that caught my attention after seeing it on Instagram. Accessories beautifully displayed in a pure white space.

All of the items are truly wonderful, and my eyes and heart were stolen in an instant ♡ All of these accessories are handmade, made by hammering metal into shape. This tool is also still in use. We also have orders for wedding rings. This one-of-a-kind ring💍…isn’t it wonderful?

The texture of the metal that can only be achieved by forging is very tasteful… While listening to designer Okamoto-san talk about it, I thought that the agate series was particularly wonderful.

I thought it might be a plant embedded in it, but it turned out to be crystals formed when the agate layer was formed. This is a one-of-a-kind accessory in which underground water flows into crystals, and when new agate is formed on top of it, the crystals are retained

. I was able to enjoy a fleeting yet beautiful, dream-like world ♡ The shop’s Instagram is also very beautiful, so please take a look ♪ There are other very nice shops in the Matsuo Building. (I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of the antique shop on the 5th floor, but the selection was very tasteful and nice. Please take a look at the store information listed in the overview section.) Finally, we headed to the 2nd floor of the building.

This gallery occupies the staircase that led to the large hall at the time. The paintings in the solo exhibition, together with the windows of the building, the staircase landing, and the stained glass, create a retro-modern space that makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Taisho era.There is

I went to the fruit cafe on the 1st floor of the same building as “Sugar Spoon”. It’s a shop where the fruits are very fresh and delicious 🍓 Please come visit ♪ The cute bee is the landmark 🐝! The store has a warm atmosphere. The shop is run by a lovely couple.

Inside the store, there is a gentle scent of fruit… take a look at this overwhelming visual! It looks delicious ♡ It’s a parfait that you can enjoy with your eyes. Plenty of seasonal fruits! It’s very juicy and really delicious ☺

The bottom of the glass is packed to the brim, so you can really feel the fruit whether you peel it or not ☺ A smoothie where you can enjoy the deliciousness of strawberries directly.

Depending on the season, you can enjoy the seasonal fruits prepared by the owner, so this is a shop you’ll want to visit in all seasons. It was delicious, thank you for the meal! Let’s buy one last snack and go home.

A cafe time at home with the mug I bought at “Paramount on Parade” in Matsuo Building. This is a hand-painted item from Portugal 🍋A creamy pudding with a strong egg flavor. The harmony with the bitter caramel is exquisite. And what impressed me was this freshly baked financier! Fluffy and oozing with butter.

With its exquisite chewy and crunchy texture, I was hooked at the first bite ♡ The popular shop in Mie Prefecture has been relocated and will open in 2023. I am grateful to have found such a wonderful shop in Nishimotomachi. By the way, Thursday is “Croissant Day” and bread is also sold.

There was a line forming right after the store opened, but each customer was treated with great care, and I think it’s not only the taste but also the warmth of the store that is appealing. A delicious viennoiserie. It’s exactly like patisserie bread. I also had this for breakfast at home.

The beautiful danish layers… the crispy dough and the sweetness of the butter made it very delicious. The shops we introduced this time are all wonderful and highly recommended.
