Fukuoka Castle Gets Lit! – Illusive Tenshukaku – 福岡城天守閣ライトアップ – Begins Tonight!

福岡城天守閣ライトアップ / “Illusive Tenshukaku” – Begins Tonight!

Checkout a breathtaking light art display at Fukuoka Castle’s historic site. Mounted on the castle’s original tower foundation, a 14-meter-high structure revives the grandeur of ancient castle features such as turrets, gates, and stone walls.

With the arrival of dusk, the tower morphs into a captivating light show, presenting ever-changing colors and patterns that enchant its audience. This lighting event, a highlight of the Fukuoka Castle Sakura Festival, infuses the cherry blossom season with a touch of enchantment.

– Dates: March 27 to April 7 for the Sakura Festival; extended illumination from March 27 to May 31.
– Time: 18:00 to 22:00
– Location: Fukuoka Castle Tenshudai, Maizuru Park

Three two 1 and we’re live we’re kushu live welcome to kushu welcome to fuka and welcome to akasaka Central fuka good evening good evening surprise live boom let’s say hi to you guys hi hey it’s me Nick I’m all alone again this evening another surprise tan live Ki live that’s because

Something special is taking place over uh in Mao coin near ohori coin so we’re going to go check that out and um yeah I hope we’re live like I said I didn’t have much time to prepare for this I think things are working if you’re watching live from anywhere in Japan

Fukoka kushu or the world say hi hey there’s some people saying hi already in the live chat green green CS is it hello and City Hunter python nice to see you well look um yeah we’re going to do this could be about 40 minutes or so uh we’re just going to go

Check out the lightup big fancy illumination taking place uh over at the ruins of foka Castle and I say the ruins of foka Castle because you know there’s nothing there there’s just the the uh stone walls and uh Kel the foundation and so forth um yeah that’s a whole another story but

There’s debate whether foka Castle actually existed or not but it exists today that is for sure because I haven’t seen this nobody’s seen this it’s the grand opening of a special illumination a installation if you will 14 M High they’ve built a t kakaku they’ve built a top to where the

Castle is believed to have been oh we got a couple of people in s High School Rog saying hi welcome to fukoka welcome to kushu yeah um so Sakura that’s that’s what everyone everyone’s mind is the cherry blossoms fukka is always one of the earliest uh blooming areas for Sakura in

All of Japan not because it’s the warmest but just the culmination of of the here check this out here we go here’s a white Sakura check out this tree this tree is in full bloom hey Jack hi Jack it’s kind of dark it’s already sun has set at uh

630 or so but you can see that the blooms are out on this tree here I don’t know what kind of Sakura this is there’s many different kinds of Sakura this is white we’re looking over the moat of um my okay got to keep going so yeah this is on miji DOI this

Is kind of cool in fukoka we got this uh really dedicated pedestrian dedicated uh cycling path on this part of Midori you see a lot of people are making use of it these are all cherry trees to the m to my left and they’re not in bloom very some of them

Just starting to bloom but you know it’s it’s obviously too early and that this would have been part of the moat the former moat of the castle and that’s filled with uh n lotus lotus Fraser Fraser something it’s hard oh it’s in my neighborhood good evening oh OJ shim if I’m in your

Neighborhood OJ shim it’s just a big parking lot again it’s really dark now now not dark it’s getting dark but uh here we go you can see the moat the castle moat there castle walls David hey from Hawaii Aloha welcome back to Fukuoka so yeah as we get closer

Hopefully we’re going to see this I can’t imagine we’re not going to see it 14 M High uh installation so uh it should be pretty cool every year they light up the walls and they have well maybe three different areas of special really well done I think that’s

I think that’s already everything starts today it’s unfortunately the uh cherry blossoms haven’t started so much but never mind that a little bit of a weak reception here we are this is the map you can sort of see that’s ooro in there and the castle area is is around here that’s

Where we’re going and yeah they’ got some nice banners up for the uh cherry blossom viewing season Sakura Matsui matsi they have a cherry blossom Festival so it’s all kinds of food trucks and uh what we got going on here got some live music yeah I’ve got a little message

That the signal might be kind of weak yeah normally these trees here are spectacular these trees here at the entrance to the uh Castle area but it’s too early too early still I mean It’s Not Dark Yet it’s just a sunset now but uh this is the uh sort of the food court

Area all kind of food trucks we’ll take a quick look in here maybe why not yeah the not much in the way of cherry blossoms to show you so we’ll just show you the festival part date thees M looks like we have your sort of regular Festival Foods here let see what

We got going here there you go some Ika corn yakis SOA M Miller M Miller is saying hello man cherry blossom for Hi so um yeah what’s that potatoes W your basic your city R it’s caught my eye this is just getting going this is the first night so uh yeah just the beginning look at this Place look I’m just walking around here because it’s still kind of light and the main thing that I want to show you is theak that’s what we’re here to show tonight but as you can see there’s no shortage of food here ah yeah that’s there telling she said

25th year anniversary for that makes me feel really old because I remember when manuk he opened um very well very well small shop in haroshi and now they got a couple brances as she said look like a stage here sakur matsi stage so yeah this uh Sakura Festival I believe runs for 12

Days today is the 27th so goes I think until April 9th or April 7th something around like that roughly about 2 weeks and uh yeah that’s just one part as everyone knows my right beside oh is huge huge area and actually most people just come here to do ohanami they they

Bring their own food um they bring their own drinks and just sit under the cherry trees and and party but um the last couple years they’ve set up this sort of Festival Zone okay it’s getting a little darker you can see more of the castle walls this is kind of interesting at

Least to me maybe we’ll go this way we’re going to walk this way I don’t know if anyone notices or not but there used to be tennis courts here right when I’m pointing the camera under the castle walls here there were tennis courts into very recently and

Those tennis courts have been moved um near to near to where the courthouse is okay I’m deliberately going a different way than I normally go I’m trying to wait till it gets darker demy DM checking in again welcome back to kushu live if you guys are watching from overseas especially say hi

In the chat or leave a comment or let us know where you’re watching from it’s always fun to hear from people from overseas people who used to live in fuka cuu yeah there used to be tennis courts here just last year team lab you know it’s a good

Question uh is this a team lab production answer is no uh there’s a company a local company uh 010 010 and they’re like a team lab but a sort of a fuka kushu version and they do really cool stuff so um I believe this illumination is produced by 010 GAA company and

So I hope I don’t regret going this way pretty impressive castle walls so sorry I didn’t mention but on this other side what we’re looking walking the building on this side is the this grand stand for the stands for the hwai uh athletic grounds

So what am I going to do here I’m going to yeah this is okay okay this is okay totally unplanned live stream today so my route is maybe not the best yeah those tennis courts I agree those tennis courts I mean people were playing under the cherry blossoms right beside Castle historic

Castle walls and uh public tennis courts I believe I think anybody could play there they they still have them they moved them to where the uho court high court used to be got moved to ROP M okay here we go all right this will be a a nice entrance um let’s see here

Pick up on some knowledge here Goa Castle was built by Kura K and his son Naga Masa over a period of 7 years from 1601 and that continues on and on and on the remains of fuka Castle are designated as a National Historic Site and uh yeah wouldn’t be great if they actually

Really did rebuild it watching from Belgium Belgium speaking of Belgium there’s going to be a Belgian beer festival in fukoka coming up I think around golden week so if you want some Belgian beer in fuka that’s coming up soon all kinds of events check out the canal website for Vents and

Fuka so this is kind of nice lighting is good eh yeah it’s still it’s brighter than I thought I’m deliberately taking the the long way so we can show you the light up Boise Idaho Boise Idaho cool I bet it’s cold there yeah okay we’re going to come back here in a week

Or so when the cherry blossoms are out they aren’t out now they aren’t out now but which way should I go let’s go this way still trying to wait till it gets darker before we show you the tenu kak T Kaku which nobody’s seen before it’s first time this year for the

Installation 14 M high top of the castle Neo checking in from Melbourne looking forward to getting back to ful in a few weeks there might still be some cherry blossoms somewhere somewhere in kushu there’ll be cherry blossoms obviously if you go into the mountain areas where it’s cooler we thought that cherry blossoms

Were going to come out really early this year because it’s been a warm winter really warm but um the final blooming the actual blooming is it’s just started now okay so these people here they’re lined up there’s three oh there it is there it is but it’s not lit up yet okay

You see it boom wow there it is we’re early so these people are lined up to actually pay to there’s certain areas where there’s sort of paid viewing but uh here on the um of course the main tenu Kaku Alum it’s free to enjoy here there’s all kinds of people lined

Up waiting here some foreigners as well too for the paid section I thought it was going to be lit up at 6 o’ let’s ask somebody who who knows what’s going on here let’s go to the information desk right here hey all right just five minutes to

Go five minutes it’s going to be lit up let’s just stay here I think this is probably probably a pretty good angle we can just watch from here five minutes for the initial light up and then maybe we’ll grab a ticket and go in so normally there’s nothing what I’m

Showing you right now there’s there’s this is an installation on top of the uh the walls this is probably the best angle so they’re opening up to okay so how it works is it’s uh 600 Yen for one zone and for 1,500 Yen you can get into three of the

Zones but I don’t know okay what time is it what do you got here oop sorry it’s uh zoomed out here um I hope the reception’s okay hope the signal is okay for live this there it is guys this is just the start not bad yeah people are saying the cherry

Blossoms aren’t out yet but they’ll be out soon but that looks really nice very impressive impressive very nice I think it would probably look even better further away wow cool got change more pink nice yellow today spe okay well you know what I think we’re going to do we’re going to be coming

Back here and uh introduce this in a different way when the cherry blossoms are out and uh I think we’re going to walk around see if we can find a different angle but this is yeah this is an image here these Cherry bosoms are just starting to come

Out you can imagine what that will look like let’s walk around a bit yeah I love these trees here these sort of weeping Sakura gorgeous oh there’s some some blossoms out on this tree see everybody standing under it’s just beginning just beginning but guys I think we’re going to do

Uh we’re going to go back this way I got it I got it I got to uh move on to something else so we’re going to uh walk back out and try to get a A View From further away we’ll be back we’ll be back when the cherry blossoms are out

Yeah it looks better the further you get away actually we just stop here for a minute think the further away the more realistic it looks okay yeah cherry blossom Seasons here and this is the first year after the pandemic as well so it’s going to be huge everybody’s looking forward to it

And of course lots of people from overseas time their visit for Sakura wow for me I try to find the quietest to me it’s not about the number of trees this this Miser coin apparently has a thousand Cherry awesome trees a thousand or so you know that’s what they

Say but you just need one you just need one and for me preferably a nice quiet area in just one tree so really all over Japan it’s uh not hard to find a small park or just a neighborhood anywhere so yeah this is another area another paid area where they have uh

Special illuminations going on we’ll come back another day we’ll come back in about actually the weather is been raining a lot all last week was raining here in fuka today was the first nice day in a while and tomorrow it’s going to rain again but after that

Apparently we’re going to have some good weather so I’d say middle next week middle next week is probably going to be pretty special okay we’re walking away that’s my plan and I think we’re going to be able to see that uh uaku as they call it we’re going to see that from further

Away I got my shoelaces undone hang on guys have to put this down here and I got to do up my shoelaces so you’re this is going to be them there we go sorry about that boom I got a date I got to get going these are all cherry blossom trees

As you can see people are desperate to find them In Bloom I like coming here at lunch hour and just having Bento oent under these trees here uh my wife amiko and I it’s a bit of a tradition we’ve had I think uhi lunch time in this park ever since we

Met long time ago so yeah let’s uh I think I can show you the moat the castle moat from above from here see these are all cherry blossoms but you know let me see if we can see the moat from below so this this is where people will be doing

Enjoying at night oh wait no that’s not the moat this is that uh Festival Zone that we walked by before sorry about that it look I like it’s hard to see where I’m going get back on the road oh there there there there there look at that that’s where we

Were there it is that looks like a castle look at that goka castle is back look at that very impressive I mean if you’re looking at this and go well hey what’s that I mean normally there’s nothing there they’ve built that that whole sort of structure 360° you can see it from

All angles and I think the the lighting is going to change I think they’re going to go through some different colors we got the long lens on here would zoomed in here really far this is the normal lens to give you how far away that is

What a lovely part of town where you can walk through the old castle area at night and it’s safe look at this all women are walking here alone children even oh out for that but you might want to bring a flashlight it’s pretty dark ooh almost hit something there okay

We got a circus act going on what time is it now hang on a second it’s uh 19 okay great all right tell you what we’re going to do we’re going to walk towards Dao now so uh see oh there maybe get a better view hang on second ah it’s not very

Good let’s go back through the Festival Zone one more time this goes till 10 P.m. don’t have time I think we showed that side on the way in let’s take a look at some these food trucks what do you have here strawberry champagne that’s kind of cool yes sausage off do wow look at this look at them the stand they

Have it’s such a big truck that they actually have a a stand for people to climb up on to get served seen that before what else do we got going on here check out this guy doing the cooking honyaki on the grill looks like a yakis SOA looks good smells

Great so yeah this is empty now or not it Nots empty but you know in a couple days from now when the cherry blossoms come out this is going to be Party Town here for sure lots of food lots of drinks lots of tables we’re on grass

Here too this is a Parkland this is ma and all kinds of places to recycle your garbage it’s really well organized again super safe let’s see what they got to drink Okay and these are the main gates so we’re leaving the same way we came in any signage here and again these trees here no blooms right now but they’re it’s just like you’re walking under a an umbrella canopy of a Sakura pink Sakura a couple more days from now For I don’t know if you can tell but straight ahead is fukoka Tower I’ll zoom in we’re looking at we’re looking on top of the moat that’s water and straight ahead that’s fukoka Tower it’s in Focus it’s foka Tower mumi way down there okay all right let’s uh That’s right so I see a lot of people are starting to make their way here yeah so this is uh one of the entrances and this area gets lit up as well too beautifully this all goes on for at least another two weeks we’re back on Mii we’re walking towards

Di and uh we’re going to get as far as D Garden City I’ll show you that and then we’re g to wrap up this live stream so I got about 10 minutes so what else is new on the SK Canal website we’ve been posting all kinds of new

Contents I think uh was it yesterday or today we’re in a been posting so much I’m losing track but there’s an excellent article about art in fuka the art scene the history of art um well art goes way way back of course but let’s say Modern Art and in

Particular there’s the Asian Art Museum people a a Asian art museum is celebrating their 25th year anniversary this year huge accomplishment because the Asian Art Museum here in fukoka is one of the first one of the only major uh museums in the world art museums in the world to specialize in

Asian art even art museums in Asia most of them as we are here uh have a mix they have a lot of Western Art mix but this this uh Museum art museum is dedicated to only exhibiting art from Asia and not only that they have an artisan residence uh program all kinds

Of sort of um what do you call it not uh artist that are well they’re they’re Patron patronized it looks like called patronize sponsored commissioned and uh I think a lot of Asian artists have broken out or got got a little bit more in the spotlight

Thanks to this Museum here in fuka it’s a great museum it’s on um shador Straight Ahead well Mai and Shori it’s in both anyways Asian Art Museum 25th year anniversary this year and they have a special uh exhibition going on it’s kind of a a best of collection of course they

Have their over the years 25 years they’ve collected an enormous amount of of uh art and they’re showing some of the very best of it and some of the artists will be coming for different events throughout the year yeah comment about the Sakura not blooming so much you we’re surprised too

Because I mentioned earlier already that it’s been a very warm winter this winter I mean Winter’s over but it was a warm winter and everybody thought that the Sakura would be out really early and they’re not not yet but I think things are going to really take off as I said it’s been

Raining this whole week uh rain and tomorrow again rain but after that I think we got a a lot of sunshine coming our way and warmer temperatures I think it’s just going to explode and uh it should be really nice this year here’s a really cool Indie coffee

Shop you see people standing standing coffee take out and drinking wine as well too not just coffee that’s a cool spot yeah we have an article another article so one about art another one about we have about music where is it the Jazz Club there it is okay yeah if

You go on our website ah it’s not open maybe it opens tomorrow but we have a um some model courses where we take you around fuka different themes and one of the themes is music and music cafes and this is the backstage Jazz and Cafe it’s it’s been

Fukoka I said we’re working on some different uh walking courses and I’ll be doing those as kushu live episodes in the near future as well this is the uh Ward office this is the CH Ward office the central Ward office and you can see there’s a subway station under here

Too all the buses these are NTI buses people are commuting on their way home from Koka has is a city with some of the most bus is in all of Japan run by Nish tetsu we have we have subways three lines actually uh but we also still have a lot of buses so

Yeah this is Magi more buses swim back and show you the uh this is the office have you ever lived in chuoku you’ve been here before a long light this is one of the few scramble iner sections in fukoka oh here we go cool all right we’re coming up to

The end Final Destination we’re headed towards D Garden City one of the newest commercial developments in fuka opened I guess now over a year ago I’ll try and show it from the side but a huge one of the new tinging Big Bang buildings can you see up there and that’s where the

Ritz Carlton Hotel is up there on the upper floors and on the lower floors are shops and offices across the street is mandarake mandarake of course is famous shop for mostly used uh but new like figurines and Anime and uh all kinds of Japanese pop culture

Goods and that’s also going to be in one of our upcoming guides walking guides that we have about fukoka Japanese pop culture anime and manga we have a a guide coming up it should be on the website in a in a day or two so yeah this is the entrance to the Ritz

Carlton sort of looks that way doesn’t it there here let’s just show the sign and this is where I’m having dinner tonight not okay let’s take a quick little peek around here bio Square bio bio bio Square second my shoelace is undone again hang on a second sorry guys here we

Go straight ahead is the Dao Shak the former Dio Elementary School not just the facade but they’ve kept most of the building there and now it houses the foka startup Cafe and other business incubation D City Garden where it’s Carlton Hotel up there and some really good restaurants

Down white bread hey very long time more gidy gy white bread I’m just about to end this live stream but thank you for checking in good to see you welcome back to fuka um yeah we’re just about to wrap this up you know what I’m going to do

Together tonight for a bit of food and drink so um that’s what’s happening maybe we’ll meet them maybe they’re up here let’s see let me just get up here you can come to a place like this in fukoka and have it all to yourself if this was Tokyo

I bet this place would be jam-packed that is yeah the grass down there Jack is uh it’s astr Turf yeah it’s not natural grass that’s a shame I always think that but I guess for maintenance this is a big office building and Commercial yeah let me get

The wide I don’t know probably in the dark it’s not so clear but um that’s what we’re looking at anyways guys boom hi so how was that we um took a walk into to check out the new tenak chaku the light up of the top of the

Foka castle look pretty cool um it’ll be even nicer when the cherry blossoms are actually out but today is the off day and I believe it runs I think that light up goes until the end of May if I’m I think they’re going to keep that going

For a long time I a lot of work to put that together but the Sakura matsi goes I think for 12 days until the 7th or the 9th of April and uh lots of great weather coming up soon after tomorrow one more day of rain and then it’s going to be beautiful here
