We are on Ford Island at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum At today’s tour we are going to go check out the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum they have a control tower they have a couple hangers and a lot of aircraft and memorabilia from December 7th and World War II I’m going to tell you right now the lighting inside the museum is pretty

Bad so forgive me on that but we’re going to also go outside and look at some awesome aircraft so let’s get to It Nestled in the historic Ford island in the heart of Pearl Harbor the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum stands as a poignant Testament to the pivotal events of December 7th 1941 the museum with its impressive collection of vintage aircraft and wartime memorabilia invites visitors to step back into time and experience The

Valor and sacrifices of the greatest Generation Now because the harbor was so shallow and comparison to the ocean the Japanese had to put these wooden uh Fels whatever you want to call them they had to put them on there to help adjust it to be uh shallow running uh versus an open ocean Torpedo The museum also features a variety of interactive exhibits allowing visitors to learn about the different type of aircraft used during World War II and the roles that they played in various battles from fighter planes like the P40 Warhawk to bombers like the B7 Flying Fortress visitors can get up and close

With personal stories of these iconic Aircraft One of the highlights of the museum is the restoration project where visitors can see firsthand the process of restoring vintage aircraft to their former glory this unique experience not only highlights the dedication and skill of the mum staff but also sheds light into the importance of preserving those pieces of history for future Generations from the museum right over here you’ll be able to see the USS Missouri so Battleship Road was just right along these hangers here so you would have had a upfront and close personal experience during December 7th of everything that was happening besides this air Airfield

Being attacked you’d be able to see all the devastation now if you come here with a lot of time and you are interested you can actually go into the control tower and get a bird’s eye view of Ford Field Pearl Harbor uh and Hickam cuz they’re all right here and right

Across the the way there as you walk from hanger 37 where you start to Hangar 79 you can just see a lot of the original buildings are still here which is pretty cool that here we are you know 80 years later and they still are keeping these buildings up and

Going to preserve that History As visitors make their way through the museum they are taken on a Journey Through Time learning about the events leading up to and following the attacks of Pearl Harbor from audio recordings of eyewitness accounts to personal artifacts belonging to the men men and women who served during World War II the

Museum provides a comprehensive look at the significant moments in history but the Pearl Harbor aviation museum is more than just a museum it serves as a place of remembrance and honor for the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor to attest to

How these airplanes were built I mean look at all of these bullet holes through here and the plane was still able to not be totally destroyed upon Landing not sure if it was a controlled Landing or a crash landing well I guess either way but this is amazing there’s got to

Be hundreds of bullet holes in here this is just so cool cuz I’m like a big World War II fan and I used to have a bunch of World War II video games with with different aircraft and now I kind of see them it’s pretty cool The B7 that’s here in the hangar it actually flew a mission uh took off it was one of several uh b7s that left from Australia to go attack Japanese targets uh during that takeoff they did it at night two b7s collided with each other a third had engine problems so there was

Like seven that took off but this particular one had issues with the bay doors for the bombs and had to swing around again before it could drop the bombs on a Target and because of that a bunch of zeros and clads were able to get uh up in the air and they chased

Them it was a thunderstorm so the B7 pilot was going up and down through the the clouds to try and get rid of the uh Fighters and it worked but in the ensuing fight the fuel tanks were damaged and he was running out of fuel

So he made it to New Guinea and he put it down into a swamp it stayed there for over 50 years local Pilots would call it the swamp ghost uh but thanks to an Enthusiast in World War II Aviation they’re able to pull it up and they got

It right here so when you look at this look at the propellers you can see how it landed and all the damage done to it was during the crash landing and the uh aerial fight now as you can see they’re doing a lot of restoration projects in Hangar 79 um

Because of that they’re tied on Space because most of those aircraft that are out there uh they were in here um and it’s really interesting cuz this is also one of the filming sites for Pearl Harbor so if you want to see what it looks like totally empty or with you

Know some I think they had some aircraft in there if I remember right it’s been a while since I’ve seen that movie they’re practicing shooting a machine gun or something in one of the hangers and voila welcome to that hanger so pretty interesting got some real life history

Here some movie history here and they’re bringing history back to life here pretty cool circle of life For You so being in the Army I always liked Army Aviation and having been through Air Assault I had an intimate knowledge of helicopters so we have the uh1 also known as the hiri the Workhorse in Vietnam uh the Marine Corp still has these uh in some instances as well

That’s just how durable they really are then you have the ah1h uh that is the uh Cobra and what’s cool is it’s it’s wide as the blade so it makes it easy to throw a lot of them on a C5 and deploy a quick helicopter Attack Force in a relatively easy time

Over here you have the uh kyowa uh this is a scout helicopter and that ball right up there can see somebody smoking a cigarette like a out the way it’s pretty cool and because they are so small when I was at Fort Carson we periodically when we see them coming in

We would uh take uh uh remote controls and would go out there and pretend to land them always made the Pilots mad because they weren’t they’re just small they weren’t a Blackhawk they weren’t a shinook and they weren’t an Apache so we just played with them now behind me is a

Wannabe army helicopter it’s the uh Seahawk which is the equivalent to the Blackhawk but it’s just equi a little bit differently for Naval operations for example if you see down here they can drop sonar buoys and things like that stuff the Army really doesn’t need so but nonetheless that has a Blackhawk

With a little bit of modifications to it now right behind me is an h34 tto now this was really big during Vietnam uh the real use the helicopter started with the Sue during Korea was to use this air metac and then it just progressively grew and grew and grew but during

Vietnam air this was one of the larger transport SL cargo helicopters of that Time raise your hand if you seen Top Gun raise your hand see Top Gun too raise your hand or she see FL of the Intruder and any other Navy V uh movie okay you see how they land on the aircraft carrier well this is it it’s

Called a tail hook so this little thing this little device right here is what will save a pilot and stop the airplane it’s that little thing so pretty Interesting Now behind me is a CH 53 this is like the C King I it’s huge okay look how big that is that is a chanook is so much larger it’s insane so the Marine’s got to be bigger and better I guess but what’s cool is you can use a

Lot of cargo carry a lot of Marines the back door drops down and everybody can get out really quick and easy so this is like the Workhorse of the Marines like uh the expeditionary units stuff like that they’ll use these like their their special forces so it’s cool now right

Over here we have the ch47 shook uh this is a marine helicopter uh but I use them in the army it’s like the Cadillac I’ve only been on them a couple times but it’s the Cadillac of helicopters now one thing about the helicopter is if you did not see any

Fluid leaking underneath of it you did not want to get on it why because it meant that it was out you don’t want to get on a helicopter that has no hydraulic fluid or anything like that bad day but there you go you got some history on helicopters now the ah means

Attack helicopter and now they dropped the a they go with a so like the a64 um things like that well I guess they do a h but the a64 is the Apache uh is utility helicopter um CH is Cargo Helicopter so some of the no claters work just like

They do with the uh the airplanes with C being cargo a being attack B being bomber FB f throughout the exhibit and programs the museum strives to educate and Inspire visitors to never forget the lesson of the past in addition to preserving history the museum also works towards promoting peace and understanding

Through Partnerships with organizations such as Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum aims to promote International cooperation and Reconciliation So if you come out here to the aviation museum you’re going to need to come out with a tour group unless you or somebody you know that that can come with you has a military ID because we are on an active military installation so the same

With checking out the Mighty Mo the USS Missouri you’re going to need to do the same thing with that as Well visiting the Pearl Harbor aviation museum is a must for anyone interested in aviation the military history or simply looking for unique and educational experience from its restoration projects to its exhibits the museum offers something for everyone so come and immerse yourself in the rich history and inspiring stories found

Within the walls of this remarkable Institution Oh I want to give a shout out to my family at station 50 in Harrington Harrington volunteer fire department uh so I saw the 50 and thought of you guys so hope you all are doing well take care fam well that completes our time out here at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum

Put in the comments what you like the most uh I’m A Big World War II fan so seen that Flying Fortress I actually flew Mission um and then bring it back I think that was probably my favorite of course I also like the F14 cuz Top Gun

When I was a kid I thought was the coolest and stuff so just a lot of history here uh seeing a Kate a zero all the other World War II aircraft that they have here is pretty phenomenal so I’m looking forward to seeing what you liked

So I want to give you a few tips while I it’s inside our rental CL CU it’s just windy out there and I don’t want to have to talk over all the wind uh being picked up by the mic so I mentioned it before I’ll reiterate it if you do not

Have a military ID it’s best that you um come in on a tour so that you’re on a bus uh I don’t know how they work visitors for visitors passes um but uh if you’re going to come in without a tour and you don’t have a military ID

Card I really really recommend that you do the research first before you get turned around and your hopes and dreams crushed like the Japanese never mind sorry I having flashbacks or whatever from World War II so if you are in the military or you’re a Hawaiian citizen

You do get a discount they do have a free audio tour we opted to not take that because we got here with about an hour and 10 minutes left before the museum closed so we didn’t have time to really do it they do have a 10-minute

Video that you can watch when you first come in after you pay be on your right hand side it’s pretty cool cuz it gives you some perspectives that I haven’t seen and I’ve watched a lot on the History Channel a lot of movies a lot of documentaries all kinds of stuff um I

Never knew that when the attack was going off there is a private citizen and his son in an airplane floating around or flying around 2,000 feet uh altitude watching everything was going on cuz they were up there just flying on on the the little weekend day uh spend some

Father son time together and they look out and they start seeing all the explosions and stuff so I didn’t know that so it’s got some stuff in there nice little 10-minute video um they do have uh a a cafe in there so if you get hungry you can get some food

They do have the uh mandatory gift shop um the lighting in here is horrible so if you like to do video or photos inside of the hangar 37 it may not be good as you’ll see in in this video um what did you like I actually like all the

Stuff I did I I took videos of it I didn’t really care for the hanger because I didn’t get to see a lot of there was like nothing in the hanger you talking about there was a B17 that got shot up during a mission they had the nose cone for B52

Yeah I don’t really care for they had an Avenger they didn’t have nothing in there that really but I lik everything I like the hanger that had like stuff that I can see the other hanger was empty it was it really wasn’t anything to me

Watch the video take a look at it let me know if when you’re in hanger what was that 79 uh 78 whatever uh 76 uh take a look at the the and hit me up in the comments if I’m the only one that saw something in there there were a few

Things in it wasn’t a lot it was it wasn’t for me it looked empty all right thank you for your commentary it’s much appreciated any you’re getting that look right now I’m getting that look getting that look um but that’s really about what I got for tips for you if you have

Any questions let me know you can buy tickets online you can buy them here it’s really up to you how you want to go and do it there’s not any real price difference if you do one or the other they are open uh until 5:00 P pm and uh

That’s why we came here with about an hour and 15 minutes left because I was going to go to check out the mighty Moe and then come on over here but uh we got held up in traffic and then the Mighty Mo closes at 4: so I only going to have

About 20 minutes there so it just punched to come on over here so don’t forget to like And subscribe to the channel so you can see everything from Hawaii and up Beyond and we’re going to try and hit the rest of the seven continents this year or the

Beginning of next year uh when I go to Antarctica in 2025 so if you like to travel you like to travel via people um because you just stay at home at school too like And subscribe to the channel cuz I will take you places you’ve never been before like Antarctica like Antarctica penguins

Penguins but no dutyfree last tip okay right now I’m leaving this Museum and I’m going to the hotel so we can go walk around and get some dinner and stuff it it’s 13 miles from this and it’s going to take me 46 minutes so when you’re planning your adventures

Around Hawaii uh just know that every light you hit will be red and the high points for traffic know about them cuz right now it is 1638 uh for those that don’t know what that means it’s 4:38 in the afternoon so it’s the High Times so plan accordingly
