All right guys welcome to the bud Mary’s channel uh it’s time for our YouTube fishing report mid-march spring break as you can see lots of boats are out weather’s nice and we’re busy fishing’s been pretty good we got a lot going on in the offshore in the back country I

Think in general a little bit of everything going on right now kind of in that transitional period back country the big story is Tarpon Tarpon Tarpon been lots of Tarpon showing up with the warm weather and spring getting here uh so we’re going to get into it go talk to

A few guys and see what’s going on all all right guys we got Captain Greg Eckland here from the Cloud9 he was just telling us about some big fishing he’s had lately we’ll uh roll some pictures here as we’re talking uh but Greg what’s been going on out there so it’s been uh

It’s been the uh the last 6 weeks has been the time of the Snapper farm for us we uh feed a spot that’s pre-spawn along the edge of the reef and uh catch a lot of really big 3 to 5 lb yellow taals we’ve had some epic days with those it’s

Uh the place is ripe they’re just getting to the point where they’re about to spawn the big ones and couple thousand fish on the spot lots of uh Goliath groupers lots of Goliath groupers up to 250 lb some days you’ll have to catch one so they’ll leave you

Alone catch them bend them out let them go and uh We’ve uh we’ve had some of that the Sharks seem to have disappeared along the edge of the reef the last 3 or 4 weeks so that’s been good we had a big massive School of mutton Snappers move

In on the 120 ledge uh 3 or 4 days ago and I bet you there’s probably 30 or 40 coddle in the dock the last couple days that’s been good fishing uh Vermillion Snappers are in town uh anywhere from like 160 out to 350 375 we’ve had some

Limit catches of those big fish you know like 2 to four 5 lbs couple at a time it’s fun when you got two or three of those on they’re pulling and shaking all the way to the top good good stuff uh some big kobia Rays we’ve actually got

Some rays back first year since Irma where there’s consistently been a few Rays along the edge of the reef and wow seems like you know with the new regulations on Kobe is we used to be able to keep one per person they had to

Be 34 in I think to the fork which was like an 18 lb fish now they’re 36 six to the fork and we can only keep two and there’s a lot of kobas there’s probably 25 uh pups on one Ray and 10 or 12 Keepers on there and so when they lift

Up it’s like a herd of pit bulls swimming around the boat so yeah I saw some video of that recently yeah several KX caught some we caught some paully called us in on a ray the other day we found another one uh day before yesterday and caught some nice fish so

It’s uh the Kobe fish has been good this spring something to look forward to that’s one of my favorite fish yeah definitely yeah and see I’ve been a shame it dried up a little bit but good to hear it back yeah right and I think

It’s you know it’s uh going to be as we keep the limits down in two per boat I think that’s going to help the fishery quite a bit the next couple years we uh should see a big uh rise in a number of fish again so yeah hopefully so and

That’s really unique to Isam marada because not only do you guys catch them in the back country on the recck piles and sawfish and stuff like that but we catch them on the Rays and stuff out front so yeah pretty cool definitely yeah pretty cool uh what else is going

On we’ve seen uh a few sailfish not not a lot uh there was a little spark of them last week down south a little bit but uh it’s starting to get that time of year where that stuff gets spotty M dolphin in town we had a good Mahi day

The other day nice uh you know 5 to 10 lb fish um not only yeah not only on debris but on current edges shallow like 300 to 600 ft so close and uh not too far we went sword fishing on uh Tuesday and hooked a double header had a big one

On she pulled off like 200 ft from the boat and uh we caught her mate which was about 100 Pounders so oh yeah yeah I know that Nick’s Cruz caught a few the last week or so so swordfishing is good even Scott caught one on the Catch 22 a

Good deal yeah a little bit of everything going little bit of everything going on yeah Springtime in the keys so good time of year to get down here yeah absolutely all right guys there you have it little bit of everything going on on the Atlantic side

All right guys we’re in the store here at Bud Mary shop we got some new gear to show you all of it’s available online and you get 20% off right now as well buying online we got new shirts you know check these out out very cool hooded options nice new

Regular Bud Mary’s gear here including some nice hooded options plenty of hats here as well again you can find them all on the bud Mary’s website if you want to look sharp get yourself some new gear spring break summer coming up can’t go wrong check them out guys 20% off lot the way

There woo on the mon all right guys catch 22 just got in here they’re showing us off uh Big Tuna Big King mackel they got AJ was just saying they got the king Mac on the mono amazing catch on Mona filament all right guys Captain Trent who runs the ccraft

For he’s been having some good fishing this week uh he had weigh out the other day and his son I believe uh they had a really good day caught a couple juvenile tarping caught a couple nice snook got their limited Mangrove Snappers and then they also caught some nice Goliath

Groupers around the bridges uh so actionpack day and one of those days where everything they did just kind of worked out um so good fishing uh in the bay islands and around town here locally right now spring break it’s on also to let you know Night Trips are available

Now if you want to go tarpon fishing it’s a good time to go uh do that and you can kind of book it a little more short notice too if you see the winds are you know not too heavy and the temperatures are right which they have

Been so far uh this spring book yourself a night Tarpon trip uh you can kind of cherry-pick the conditions and uh get a good window of fishing out there all right so pretty cool sighting we had this week guys we had a couple of big sawfish swim into the marina Basin right

Here um sawfish are a prehistoric looking creature in the shark and Ray family almost like a combination of a shark and a stingray with a big old hedge trimmer on their nose uh and these things I mean they get up to 15 18 ft long uh 5 600 lb but I know

They can get over 1,000 lb uh we’ve been catching them more and more you know in recent years down here we even catch them sometimes just right in the bay here a mile away from the marina but the other day we actually had them swimming around in the Basin here you could see

Them from the charter boats and from up here on the deck it was really cool check out the cool Drone footage of these things swimming around um amazing fish amazing creatures if you do catch them are supposed to report it which we always try to do and they try to keep

Track of them uh learn about them but anyways really cool sighting right here in Bud Mar’s Marina Basin all right guys we got Captain Jimmy Hendrick here from The Dauntless he’d been uh out of commission the last couple months he was getting his boat redone but he’s back in business now and

Uh back to fishing how was fishing out there today uh we had to work at it but it was it was good got a me t and some Kings let a big goliath grouper go and some amberjacks and stuff like that but it was good fishing springtime’s here so

It’s a variety a lot of fish uh different species so can have fun with that and glad the boat’s back it’s running good we’re back in full operation so there you go ready to have you cool yeah that’s what we’ve heard variety variety out there yeah cool well

Glad you’re back and uh boat’s looking good I’m sure you’re happy to have it back yeah it’s like a new boat now yeah back fishing cool deal awesome so here’s the dauntless back in her slip as we mentioned uh Captain Jim was out of commission a couple months redoing this

Boat uh I know they kind of redid it from the bottom up new fuel tanks you know they had the deck all cut up uh they redid the console he’s got the standin tower now so you can kind of go up there to do a little more sight

Fishing and stuff uh repowered they got twin Yamaha 200’s on there now and you know nice fresh paint cushions everything’s looking good um this boat’s a great option for fishing down here if you got you know like three or four people and you don’t want to spend the

Big big bucks to go on a big offshore boat uh you know these boats are kind of small agile they get you out there quick you know as long as you don’t mind being out in the open in a little smaller boat uh it’s a great option guys Donald’s in

Business he’s mullet fishing catching bait for our Tarpon trips so uh he’s got bait if you want to book a short notice Tarpon trip know you can get your from Donald and uh that’s who a lot of our guys buy from so it’s Tarpon time Springtime it’s here hang on let’s give

Him your number give him his number hold on one second I got that all right so you can get live mullet from Captain Donald at 305 509 2356 best in the business all right guys we missed him at the dock but my friend Captain Bill bassett’s been out a lot

Lately he’s had some good fishing uh as mentioned he’s been into the tarpon lately doing a lot of Back Country bait fishing for them uh I know they ran up the Road he had a gentleman wanting to fly fish they were able to catch a tarpon on fly so great catch doing that

Um he’s also had some snook and some red fish as well in the back country on some recent trips uh and been getting out a lot so you can check out the pictures see what he’s catching um if you want to go fishing go book with Kath and Bill

Basset Bill also does some canoe trips back in the Everglades if you’re ever uh looking to do that as a single person he’s one of the only guys here that can do that it’s a special request item though but we can get you set up if you’re interested in that all right guys

Endeavor just got in here they had a nice big old fat mutton snapper few Mah and tuna as well uh I said it was a little slow out there for him but they did get a few nice fish there all right guys we got miles here they just stepped

Off the Relentless uh we could see from the flag flying from the Outrigger that they caught a nice sail fish did you catch it miles yeah awesome was that your first sail fish yeah cool where you from Naples Florida from Naples okay how old are you 12 12 well all right cool so

Was that a cool experience yeah yeah you ever caught a fish that big before no no okay cool deal well congratulations what’s happening guys good afternoon hanging out on the B&M got our friend Joe from uh Illinois uh he wanted to catch sailfish today uh it was a

Beautiful day to try it it beautiful water everywhere bait was really good and we didn’t uh catch a sailfish we’ve seen a few which is uh unfortunate for the day but we did catch some permit um this time of year they’re spawning out on the big wrecks and uh it’s cool they

Pull real hard we release them here but it’s like one of the prestigious fish to catch you know are breaking up the sail fishing CU it was slow but uh caught a couple red groupers on the bottom Bonitas released a couple Kingfish we weren’t really trying to take any for

Dinner but uh it was a beautiful day out there we did get some sales on Su yeah we got some he got he went fishing with Endeavor on the other day and he got uh two or three of them right Mr Joe’s by himself too he’s a he’s a s he’s slaying

Them which is awesome like to see it awesome but uh yeah it’s been all around pretty much good fishing spring is here and uh really trying to see what happens all right guys we got Captain Dave Morris here captain of the fish wife one of our larger babo options if you got a

Party of three four people uh it’s a great option for getting bigger groups in the back country how was fishing out there today Dave uh it was pretty good we caught our limited trout tons of uh Lady Fish Jacks we had a called a big Tarpon on a trout Rod

Which was pretty exciting oh there you go doesn’t that happens about once every four years like a 100 pounder uhhuh and uh and then we came back here and we tried to catch a tarp and we hooked a saw fish that came off and that was it

But the back with lots of action in the back country awesome yeah I’ve heard I’ve heard the Trout fishing’s been pretty good and uh good option if you’re looking for table Fair real good to eat uh they don’t keep real well so not ones you really want to ship home we try to

Freeze but if you’re here and want some for dinner it’s a good option Yep they’re going to habanas tonight there you go your dad’s favorite oh yeah I like it there too yep best place in town as you can see March lots of things going on offshore and uh it’s a variety

Variety variety but weather’s been nice fishing’s been pretty good if you’re thinking of coming down uh it’s a great time give us a call we’ll get you out fishing got lots of stuff to catch right now tarping in the back country is the big story offshore you know Mahi fishing

Will get better as we get into the summer right now though it’s a mix of things still some good ref fishing going on a few sales around but as you saw too some guys getting a few Mahi offshore as well all right guys thanks for watching we’ll catch you next time

  1. I'm from Mississippi and was lucky enough to drive and fish the Florida Keys. I suggest anyone in the US should go. It's a tropical paradise. I watched tarpon, pelicans, seagulls, manatees and other various fish fighting for fish scraps at Bud and Mary's. 👍

  2. As usual its always great fishing in ALL of the Keys but realistically its kinda slow this time of year. As the water temps warm up and we get into real Spring things will heat up with the fishing. I would wait until mid April or May before I booked a trip….just saying😎
