Japan Day 3: A Day in Osaka

Date: 13/11/23 πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

Our third day in Japan began with a short walk from our hotel to Breakfast Udon Express in Kyoto for breakfast. While Daljit and Aaron braved the Intestine Ramen, I chose a safer option. Fueled by our morning ramen, we set off for Osaka, marking a new chapter in our journey.

En route, we stumbled upon Ikki, a quaint shop selling delightful doughnut-like treats. Osaka greeted us with its vibrant contrast to Tokyo, a city bustling with life and energy. Our lunch adventure led us to a local spot that sadly fell short on flavor, earning a rare 1/10 from us.

Our spirits lifted at Osaka Castle, where the views from the top were nothing short of breathtaking. Dotonbori was next, with its iconic Glico sign and an unexpected encounter with a lively, albeit slightly annoying, local.

Despite the hype, my takoyaki experience was disappointing, leading to a quick abandonment of the dish. Our exploration continued to Game Taito Station and a card shop that astounded us with its collection and prices, especially a 3 million yen PokΓ©mon card.

As evening fell, Dotonbori transformed, revealing its nighttime charm. The Don Quijote Ferris Wheel’s deceptive looks had us in for a surprise with its squeaky and unnervingly thrilling ride. Our day concluded with an unforgettable Kobe beef dinner near the Ferris Wheel, the name of the restaurant eluding us but the taste lingering on.

We returned to Kyoto, catching the illuminated Kyoto Tower against the night sky, a serene end to an adventurous day.
