Today we are back at BOOKOFF SUPER BAZAAR and spending a bit more time going through the 110yen (75¢) section.
Also checking the ornaments, vases and ceramics as usual…all the types of items I thrift for resale and for the home.

I’ve added estimated prices in USD($), so you can gauge how much things cost😊

By the way the lovely blue glaze Kiyomizu-yaki vase sold today, the day I posted this video!
Love that kind of synchronicity!✨

Thank you so much for watching and hope you enjoy the content🥰

Video No. 5

Hello everyone today we’re back at the Minatocho  branch of BOOKOFF Super Bazaar, it’s actually   the largest BOOKOFF Super Bazaar in Kanagawa  prefecture so I’m here a lot. We saw the   lion and the kangaroo version of this Sasaki  glass the other day, there’s the lion, it’s still

Here. Kind of reminds me of Lisa Larson, maybe  it’s just the face. We are in the section that   sells mainly non-Japanese products but it’s  kind of mixed up, the figurine section here, yeah   it must be difficult for the staff with limited  training to know where everything comes from, you

Know. This is definitely from Okinawa. It comes  from Sam’s Teppanyaki. It usually has cocktails in   that. This is I believe probably sandstone  from Africa, and we’ve moved into the vase or   vase section now. This is interestingly  textured, it looks very scaly but I like it

It’s very very bold, very statement piece. It  looks like it’s a studio pottery, yeah that’ll   look really cool, one of a kind right? Too heavy  for me to buy and sell and ship. Yes that one was

There before, oh this one might just be factory  made but I like the colors of it. Nice size as well, and I’ve spotted something that I really like  and this is what I’m going to buy today. This is

A Kiyomizu-yaki, so Kiyomizu it says there which is  from Kyoto, it’s Kyoto Ware. I love the color of the   glaze and and the edgings and that gold band in  the middle, so I’m going to get that one. This, this

Is actually a Kozan kiln little piece. I think  we saw this in the first video that I posted, not   the same one but something from the same kiln. It  doesn’t fetch much money so it’s okay for personal

Use but not for resale, same with this as well,  very cute though, the color is lovely, and this you’d put a really big round kenzan, flower frog, in the  middle of that so that would be cool [Music]

Here’s a nice bamboo piece, it has the vase  inside which is really good, often that’s gone   you know, so you only have the outside basket.  That’s Bohemian Crystal, this is handmade Japanese   Kurata craft glass and the one next to it,  the white one we saw last week, is the same

As this. So it’s Iwata glass, so now we know  who made that. I love them both, they’re   beautiful, but I am interested in these little  guys in this baggie. It is from Actus, these are   three wooden birds. I’m definitely getting these  ’cause I know they will be really worthwhile. We’re

In the Japanese figurines and interiors section  now but there will be some things mixed up as   you will notice that are from other places,  well let’s have a look what they’ve got today [Music] And here we are in the fun 110 yen section,  which is about 75 cents. This I thought it was   kind of cool but it’s just a modern one, maybe  it’s probably by Daiso or something like that, and

This it has a sushi shop name on it from Asakusa,  maybe it was a New Year’s gift or something, and   here are a couple from IKEA, and then now we have  these pink labels that means five items for

110 yen so there are four of these lovely teacups,  with, you have the plum design on there. There   probably were five originally but I think these  are so pretty I’m going to pick them up [Music] I actually really liked this ceramic container  and I love the color on it, it has no markings   but the reason why I didn’t get it because sadly  there was a bit of a scratch on the top there. If

You like fans I usually see one or two in this  section, you have to dig obviously but you   might find one. I did buy this for myself because  this is a calligraphy brush and I like to draw

Ensos with it, and this I didn’t get on this  occasion, I’ve bought them before. This bell was   really interesting, I’m not exactly sure what it’s  carved out of but it’s an ox to represent one of   the Chinese astrological signs. We get these  usually at shrines, this is also from a main

Shrine so yeah I just thought it was coo,  I didn’t pick it up but it was interesting find Here we have some soy sauce bottles, that’s  a very simple one there. This with the crackled   purple glass, a bit pricier, very nicely made,  and this has got a rose pattern on it so, it   looks like it’s pressed glass though, and I  don’t know why I didn’t buy these two cute

Things. This, the soy sauce side, is a crane  and then it’s a tortoise next to it which   I would put either mustard or maybe some  chili flakes in there, yeah, they’re really   cute. Now we are in the teapots and teacups and  teacup set area, so let’s see what we’ve got here [Music]

You may have noticed we’re now in the sake  cups and decanter section, the decanters are called   “tokkuri”, so yeah there’s all different types here,  it’s not a huge section but there’s enough, you’ll   definitely find something you like I’m absolutely  certain, and over here are now in the matcha bowl

Section I found this item and I will show you at  the very end how you use this. These glasses are   interesting I wondered how you drink out of them,  whether it’s actually comfortable? I don’t know…

They remind me a little bit of the Hario coffee  jugs that are glass, you know, Hario glass. Here are   some Ryukyu Okinawan glasses, hand blown usually. That  looks very, very retro, also Japanese. These are nice

MModern. I like the very heavy solid bases on them  actually. Alright, I have a very, very brief haul   today because I didn’t purchase too much. I can  be very frugal, sometimes I go a little bit mad but

In the main I try to be frugal. To be honest there  isn’t too much storage space in the apartment too   so I have to be careful. I did pick up some jewelry,  this is a brand called ICB in Japan so that will

Be, well I think I’m going to wear it and then  resell it, and I’m not sure which brand this is but   this is also Japan-made. I like the fact that they  were knotted between each bead, and I just like the

Color of the dangles on this one, like the lovely  green, and now for these little birds. They’re from   Actus, “A, C, T, U, S”, and I can tell you they sold within 2  days of listing. At this point I haven’t actually

Put any wood oil on them, but I did that, so the  beak and everything was looking like new, and the   person who bought it was so happy with them. She  really, really wanted them. She’s been looking for

Them for a long time. so she snapped them up within  2 days, and I also made a really good profit   margin of 89% so that was a really lucky, lucky  score for me, and here is the Kiyomizu Ware or Kyomizu-yaki vase

It’s a bud vase, I love, love, love the texture on it,  the color of the glaze is beautiful and that gold   right round there. It’s made with such care. There  is a sticker on the bottom still and there’s also

A mark. I’ve only seen these on the internet, I saw  one that was kind of a round huge bulbous one, but   I’ve not seen one in this shape, and it’s still  listed, there’s so much interest on it but people

Have been trying to get me to reduce the price  and I haven’t got it up on their too high so I   am standing my ground at the moment, and now these  lovely cups. If you can remember I paid 75 cents, or

The equivalent of, so 110 Yen for four of them, you  could buy five items for that price, and the lovely   florals are plum blossoms so it’s this season,  it’s winter time, and this will be Tokoname   Ware. Tokoname Ware. This is from Aichi prefecture  and they are quite well known for this sort of

Red clay like, a terracotta clay, so this should  have been a set of five I presume and that’s why   I went on sale because probably somebody broke  one of them, but you know they’re lovely I   think four is fine. I’m trying to find the teapot  to match actually that would be good wouldn’t

It? It’s hard to read the back of this. I’ve  tried but the mark is really hard to see. Okay so   now we’re going to move on to this thing. This is  to do with matcha tea, tea ceremony. I bought this

Tea bowl at um where was it, oh Tomioka Hachimangu  Flea Market, or Antique Market so, I should go and   video that for you. This is a chassen which is  a whisk, the matcha whisk, so you wouldn’t have

The plastic in the middle there, I just still had  it on, but after you finish whisking and you   wash it, if you pop it on there on the chassen-date, then  it will retain its shape. I bought this matcha bowl

At the same market, antique market. It was actually  the seller’s first time at the market that day, and   now for this fan, the folding fan, you can see the  grain of the bamboo. It’s in lovely condition, just

A simple pink flower, maybe camellia or, I don’t  know maybe from this angle looks a bit like a   morning glory, I’m not certain, but it’s really nice  and I like the bead as well being green and that

Light pink string on it so really easy to use I  think it’ll be elegant to use also with western   clothing, I don’t think it has to be kimono or  yukata. Really nice. These I just got for myself   they are calligraphy brushes of different sizes,  different thicknesses, so I got them because I like

To do the swirl Enso, which is a very Zen activity  like swirl it like this, it’s harder than you   think actually, and this is also for me, they use it  for making cocktails to strain but I don’t drink

Alcohol much so I’m going to take it with me to  the beach because I often make mocktails there so that’s useful. So this is my haul for today. Thank  you for watching the video and coming shopping

With me. I hope you enjoyed it and look forward to  seeing you soon in another video. Thank you again Bye!

  1. So happy to have another video to watch! Your manicure looks very nice (and I’m glad you decided not to wear your watch too)!

  2. Lovely finds. Thanks for sharing. Found my first Kokeshi doll at one of my favorite flea markets here in NYC. She’s a “Sayonara” Kokeshi with a scroll that culminates in a pretty swirl of fabric that wraps as if she’s wearing a kimono. I love her but you’d be shocked to learn that I had to pay $15 US. Worth every penny to me as they’re not quite as common here as they are in Tokyo. Could it be the start of a collection? Yes, indeed!
