It is incredibly hard to not support some form of atrocity when buying anything food-related since most of the companies that sell food-related items are all owned by the same 10 major companies so there is almost nothing you can do that won’t support them in some way.
So while its fine to be against those companies, its silly to harass others when they buy their products, as its almost impossible not to unless you specifically buy locally sourced items.
Like I said in the other post, it’s basically impossible to engage in commerce without indirectly supporting some sort of fuckery somewhere in the world. Hell, merely reading about it on the internet counts, since you’re accessing the internet using a device whose motherboard was either made in China or made by a company which does business in China.
To say nothing about Musk and Twitter.

Everything these people complain about is based on Picking an ‘arbitrary’ starting point in either time or location so they can just blame whichever group they already hate.
I long since stopped pretending these people have valid points, and started responding to their dishonest pearl grasping with the level of mockery it deserves- nay, morally calls for.

It’s sad that all Scarle wanted to do was vibe and chill, but all because the brand of drink she brought, it got turned into this. Like sure, the situation is nuts, and I can see the point behind it, but trying to PUSH it into spaces that are more or less a ‘politic free zone.’ is just wrong.

Unrelated but I wrote about the bullying allegations from a Japanese artist, but for some reasons I can’t post it on the subreddit (probably my phone is too old. I’m using iphone 6) Can anyone post it for me?
Almost anything you have ever bought is in some way only a few degrees of separation from great human suffering. Ever had chocolate before? Guess what you’re part of the system.
Yes people should be conscientious about their purchases. Yes people should avoid contributing to awful systems. But not everyone has the time or effort to put the energy in that and is also not the average person’s responsibility to do so. And if you’re complaining about ethical consumption on your smartphone than your ethics are performative only.

I mean, pretty much all cotton in the world is grown under quasi-slavery conditions, and a lot of big garment factories are death traps where young women are made to work 14 hour shifts with no toilet breaks. You certainly don’t see many internet activists wearing homemade hemp clothing, though, do you?
There’s plenty of wrongs in the world that people could rally against, but unless it’s a particular cause célèbre that’ll win prestige points with their friends people will just ignore or compartmentalize it.

You cannot physically acquire anything with a computer chip that does have at least a few components made by Chinese sweatshops. Good luck using anything electronic.

I’m fine with people boycotting something but harassing people who don’t participate is so shitty. They act like this is a labor strike when it’s not.

twitter activists when they realize the devices they use to rant and hate mob online are made of electronic parts that are made through the use of slavery and child labor:

I despise exposing my stance like this but I’m pro-palestine and even I think this is stupid. You don’t get people to sympathize with your movement by lynching someone who probably didn’t know any better and just wanted chill. Those tweets “calling her out” were unnecessarily mean.

Source is [Oxfam America](https://www.oxfamamerica.org/explore/stories/these-10-companies-make-a-lot-of-the-food-we-buy-heres-how-we-made-them-better/) The article is from 2014, I will admit but I highly doubt anything has changed since then.
