Now, if the title didn’t give it away, I don’t agree with the charges bein leveraged in this specific situation (general anti-Anycolor, pro-common-sense and pro-basic-decency position aside), but I figure I’d note it for completeness sake, because it seems liable to spiral wildly out of control if left to word of mouth.

The situation, at the minute, is this: Scarle is in Japan, as we knew, and is streaming from there. Specifically, she’s doing a Starbucks haul stream, in which McDonalds was allegedly mentioned. (These two companies are relevant here, because certain groups primarily on Twitter have taken to boycotting them, believing that doing so will hurt Israel.) At some point, a viewer apparently wrote a comment / chat referring to the still ongoing Israel / Palestine conflict, garnering [the response clipped here](https://twitter.com/under_r_bed_rn/status/1767023360863596865).

Following this, a certain group of people on Twitter is now freaking out / getting angry. Scarle has apologised at a later point in the stream (I would link a clip here, but there doesn’t seem to be one), and changed the stream title.

So yeah, for once the Nijisanji liver is on the less dumb side of the ‘discussion’. Noteworthy, though, is that, seemingly, a lot of the folks upset about this on Twitter used one or several Niji oshi marks in their names, so who knows if this will have any relevant impact.

Just to reiterate my point, I’m mostly writing this post so that we have a recount of events to refer to later, as people tend to exaggerate what they see as others wrongdoings in regard to this conflict.

Edit: Hopefully made this easier to parse.

I am sorry, even after read your post i cant quite grasp the situation….

Is this the usual palestine vs israel support debacle? Where everyone just insert palestine and israel debate? Consume coffee = support genocide debacle?

The tweet that you link also the typical “politic is my identity” acc that always mix everything with politic, so i cant take what the tweet said seriously….

    Mind to elaborate ?
    Edit: adding context…

    …???

This reads as the Wikipedia six-link game but reaches the end with four links missing.

OP, what are you talking about?

  3. Lord_Lilac_Heart

Summary: someone brought it up and Scarle said to take politics out of her chat, and “why are you ruining the fun and killing the vibe?”

Personal opinion: a mistake of a response brought about by the constant hammering against Niji EN ever since the termination. Doesn’t make it right, but my take on why she probably said what she said since I didn’t expect her to react this way.

  4. 210sqnomama

Real bad response. The best way to handle it is just to ignore it.

  5. NormieOnTheLoose

Didnt expect scarle to stream starbucks trials, fully expect twitter backlash, surprisingly the viewers kinda not too loud about it until that one superchat.

I hate these boycotters man, it’s like theyre in a discord that have an alert for when to raid a content creator whos just eating/drinking stuff that just happen to be a controversial franchise.

Do these people even have valid reasoning why a business not located in the warzone is a target? No way their reasoning is just because those businesses happen to have a branch there right? Cant be that dumb right?

  6. brickwallrunner

From what I can tell, people have already moved on. Scarle did something stupid, apologized for doing something stupid, people appreciated her for acknowledging that she did something stupid, and have now resumed celebrating the fact that Godzilla -1 won an Oscar.

  7. BrotenStudios

There has been division in the community over if scarle is actual supportive of team A or Team B.

So it would not surprise me if this is more about one side trying a smearing campaign. And trying to trap her up. Using politics as a tool.

*If any streamers policy is to leave politics off the stream then people need to respect that. No one has the right or moral authority to high jack a creators live content to promote your own platform. If they want to get a message out, then release your own content.*

I’m not a scarle viewer, but few times I’ve seen her she seemed to make good content. And I won’t get into my personal views on what was complained about. This is simply my view on the rights for all creators.

I just feel like this was a little dumb of Nijisanji? Isn’t this the same corpo that banned their talents from playing Hogwarts: Legacy? Shouldn’t they have warned them not to mention Starbucks? Seriously though Vantacrow when people commented on his photo of Sakura Starbucks handled it the most tactful and graceful way!

    FWIW, FalseEyeD actually reported this

That being said, it will be funny if Niji decide to pull out of EN market because they don’t want to deal with these kind of politics, when one cannot be simply “ignorant” or “neutral”.

  10. MaNameIsMudD

please go to r/geopolitics then you would get better responses from there.

  11. military_otaku

NijiEN made their bed by courting twitter. Feel bad for Scarle. Some HoloJP have posted pics of the sakura drink at starbucks japan. Of course no one hassled them since the audience was normal japanese people.

  12. Alpha_YL

Man this is really dumb. I get the whole companies supporting Israel is bad thing but man it is stupid.

  13. KogashiwaKai765

she just wanted to eat some fucking cakes…

you know JP locations got good shit that they dont have in the states

  14. masterofbeast

I was in the stream while playing helldiver 2. I noticed a commotion, but I didn’t know something had blown up on twitter. She became more upset as the stream went along and ended, so I looked it up.

Bunch of idiots trying to stir shit up on twitter, and I’d back Scarle on this one. She has rules in her chat, and they broke it. She could have worded better, but that chatter broke the rules. Gtfo.

Scarle just cannot catch a break right now. I hope she has fun offstream.

  15. mrcandyman

Oh this must be the dumbass who keeps posting in this subreddit with that “Do your daily click” bullshit. Fuck that guy.

  16. firnien-arya

Gotta love it when people bring up companies they want others to boycott. Cause it’s not gonna change anything. Look at Nestlé. Company does some evil shit and people still buy from their subsidiaries cause they own just about everything.

  17. JustWantToSeeComment

It’s just another example of Niji’s shitty Tumblr/Twitter brainrot fangirls.
I swear to god these people are the worst, worse than unicorns, because 90% of the time these people are just teenage white girls who live in an upper class neighborhood and pretend to be suffering or get offended on behalf of others, they are nothing more than annoying virtue signaling trash who only care about these issues to get brownie points on Twitter, as a minority, these people are the worst and I legit know they offer nothing positive to society.
Niji did this to themselves by pandering to them with people like Uki, and I am glad other companies like Hololive and Phase Connect never pandered to these cretins, they deserve nothing.

  18. Figerally

We watch Vtubers to get away from the real-world shit. Unless that is their content people shouldn’t be bringing this up in a Vtubers chat.

I think this guy brought it up in chat just so he could clip it and post it on TwitteX for clout and that is just so disingenuous.

The whole influencers commenting on the conflict is so fucking toxic. “tHeY HaVE to UsE tHeiR pLaTfoRm tO sUpPoRt ***MY*** viEW!”😫😫😫
No, they fucking don’t. Does your favourite influencer have a doctorate in political science? No? Then they are better off not stepping into that arena.

You know, I dont like Nijisanji no more, both management and livers,

I would always say that their controversies recently has always been the consequences of their actions.

But this is the dumbest controversy by far lol. I cant even justify this one.

All I can say though is that they did attract people like this. Better to not say controversial things in the first place.

  20. Unusual-Ad4890

This is what happens when 14 year old’s get their first real political thoughts – burn anything that slightly irks what you stand for. If you believe in the boycott, that’s fine, boycott the company. But to get this fucking mad about an internet anime lady buying some goddamn cakes.. it’s all so tiresome.

  21. ButterscotchNo9001

It’s always a minor. That twitter account is a minor. There was someone else who started shit in chat who is also a minor. It’s always the terminally online twitter children.

  22. fffffplayer1

Wait, is that the same person (the twitter poster) that was defending Uki here on this subreddit and then edited their post to tell us to do our “daily click”?

  23. SorranTheGrey

Its so fucking stupid to ask a streamer about politics anyway (unless that’s the content they make). These people just want to have fun and entertain others, they are not educated on the topics, and as a result their stance/opinion should have no impact on ANYTHING, especially not the views of their audience.

Also, it appears the person who tweeted that clip is a minor, anyway, just giving more credence to the suggestion that no one should ever have to be exposed to the opinions of a minor on the internet. They need to shut up and sit down, on either side of the political aisle

  24. That-One-Screamer

What stream is the clip from? I can’t seem to find it.

  25. Nihil-Existentialism

If you notice Holo never have this kind of controversy because two factors:

-They have an actual PR and management to handle what topic talents can talk about

-Holo builds it audience free from real world stuff like politics, belief and sexuality, talents characteristic build up how they speak and their talents as idol
Not how much they hate specific race

  26. This is even dumber when you notice that Vanta was in a similar situation. He postedsonething about McDonald’s, and a guy on twitter informed him, very calmly and professionally that there was a boycott going on and it was because McDonald’s was supporting a genocide. No politics mentioned, just the human factor of it. And Vanta responded with the same professionality, saying that he didn’t know about it and thanked him for the information. That’s it. It was never mentioned again and there was zero drama

And now this. Frick me, why the heck is there drama over this?!

  27. TrainerCompetitive91

    These boycotting is incredibly dumb.

I’m not downplaying stuffs with Palestine-Israel. But forcing others to boycotting certain brand or harrasing them just doesn’t logical. Those companies will still make millions anyway, the only thing comes out of this is people who actually love foods and drinks from those brands got harrashed.
