  1. I was curious and looking up Japanese Labour Law online. Based on a 2012 Amendent to Japan’s Labor Contract Law ([労働契約法](https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/houdou/2r9852000002hc65.html)) , any contract employees who have had their contracts renewed with a company for a period of 5+ years can request to become a permanent employee and the company must accept.

A permanent employee under Japanese law would be legally entitled to benefits such as pensions, and protection from firing without cause.

The caveat is that the employee would need to request it to happen, if my understanding of the translation is correct. It’s not automatic.

Quick question. Does it have to be uninterupted? In my country people usually have a 2-4week break between short term contracts to prevent things like this.

Edit: Read the source. It effectivley says a 6month break period would be required. That is way too long in the vtubing context.

  4. So the OGs like Tsukino Mito can be perma employee?
