You know it’s bad when it breaks not only US Labour Laws, but also Japanese and British ones too

  2. MaNameIsMudD

I’m sure NDF will say it’s fake cuz it’s from an ‘anonymous’ attorney 🤦

If true this makes me hope. It really hurt to think that these conditions may be normal in Japan. Part of me was wondering if maybe this is part of why Japan has such a high rate of suicide. It would certainly reflect in the high rate of suicidality and bad mental health amongst the NijiEN livers. But the idea that even the Japanese think this is ridiculous gives me hope that it’s a Niji problem, not a Japan or Asia problem.

So it isn’t even legit in Japan? I mean I figured but oof.

As a translator, if I gave my teacher machine translated legal document he would hit me in the face. This is next level neglegence and laziness.

  6. I was cynical before- thinking Niji was too big to fail. But now… If this is legit, this might just be the biggest fuck up I’ve ever seen.

  7. JP lawyer also thinks the ones who wrote that are a bunch of incompetents, that speaks volumes alongside the fact They even violated acts in japanese law

  8. I’m gonna try to pre-empt anyone complaining that he’s concealing his sources: He knows that skeptics won’t be happy unless he practically doxxes them, so people can look up their credentials etc, and that could get his sources in legal trouble.

I would hope that if he was ever legally challenged he could back it up in court, but it’s not my place to be the one challenging him and I’m content to leave it at that.

They spent a few minutes discussing a hypothetical ex-Japanese lawyer who resides outside of Japan as an example of a credible Japanese source that could publicly comment on these issues and then moved on. If anyone wants to step up, feel free.

  9. So if this contract is illegal under Japanese law then Nijisanji are in real trouble with Japanese authorities

there is no way in hell we got a company whose fucking contract is illegal in their home country.

who gave us that contract template again?

  11. I feel like this makes it really seem like it’s fake then. I would assume not but I haven’t a clue where it came from, why this random youtuber has it and I haven’t really seen any proof that it is real. On top of that it’s like cartoonishly evil and there’s no way they would break japanese law like that, right?

If someone can give me more solid proof of it being real then I’m all for it but who knows.

This is such a big “whoa, wtf, even more?!” Moment gott damne

I mean unenforceable doesn’t mean it’s not in the contract. It still scares does who don’t know.

Yikes I figured most of it would fly there since Japan isn’t so good on the whole worker protections thing.

Come to think of it, this might be partially why HoloLive actually doesn’t require exclusivity.

I really hope the talents still left at Niji will band together and get some professional Japanese legal counsel to look over their contracts. If it really turns out that a lot of it is either illegal or unenforceable they should try to collectively negotiate a legal and more equitable contract if they wish to stay with Niji.

If Niji was smart they’d take it as an opportunity to publicly eat some crow but profess to do better with a new, awesome contract that will benefit all livers, but I suspect Japanese concepts of “saving face” will prevent them from going that route.

  16. So niji law is, “i made it the f up” lol.
