This time, we will take the Linimo train near Nagoya, Japan. It is a floating train, without a driver, and almost noiseless. Nearby is Ghibli Park, a theme park based on Ghibli. Please watch the video until the end! Yakusa station. Located in Toyota City, famous for Toyota Motors.

It is a 40-minute train ride from Nagoya Station. The train you will take today is right in front of you. A futuristic linear motor car called Linimo. It is floating, almost noiseless with driverless operation.. Very quiet. So, let’s get on the train as soon as possible.

Not only the train, but also the station itself is quiet. I bought a free pass today, by the way. Cat bus? I found Totoro. Near the Linimo station, there is a theme park called Ghibli Park, which is based on Ghibli. The station seems to be sealed by platform doors.

It is a train that is with driverless operation., so it is very dangerous if a person falls on the track without such a platform door. A Linimo train is coming from the distance.

It is a very sharp curve, but it is also a curve that can be made only by a linear motor car. The feature of this Linimo is that it is almost noiseless. Is it really a train? The noise is as if it were not a train at all.

You may not be able to tell the difference, but it is floating only 8mm. However, if there is nothing to hold the train, it will fly away, so there is something to hold it in place. From a distance, it looks like an insect with legs. And the rails move. The lamps light up.

It comes to the platform. And there is almost no sound. The rails are different from those of ordinary trains. It is very stylish. Let’s get on the Linimo. The interior is also stylish. Let’s sit in the front row. There is a driver’s seat at the very front… There is no driver.

Then, let’s go. It is too quiet. It’s hard to talk when it’s so quiet. And it turns smoothly even on a steep slope. And we arrived at the next station in about 2 minutes. The station is also beautiful. Once we get off at the Aichi Expo Park station.

Of course, our destination is Ghibli Park. It is quite large. There are very few people. Because today, Tuesday, is a closed day. However, there are places you can see from the outside. You can see… Clock tower. That seems to be an elevator. And the little place is sophisticated, too.

The clock tower looks like something out of Laputa or Howl’s Moving Castle. This is where Ghibli special exhibitions and cat bath rooms are located if the museum is not closed. And it has nothing to do with Ghibli.

This is the former site of the Expo, so the official characters of the Expo are here. And “Chikyuya”, the stage of the place to listen carefully. And the playground equipment of the Ghibli world. If you are interested in Ghibli, please come here except Tuesdays when the museum is closed.

Reservations are required due to its great popularity. Now back to Linimo. It is still very quiet. Incidentally, the maximum speed is 100 km, which is quite fast for a new transportation system. Are there any issues with this Linimo? It is the amount of electricity used.

Since it is a linear motor car, it uses less electricity than a normal train. But there is a demand for more in other places, so I would like to see this system put to practical use not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world.

The great thing about Linimo is that it can make even this sharp curve. Too sharp curve. Let’s get off here and look from the outside. No sound at all from the outside. I can’t tell if a train is coming or not at all just from the sound.

I came to another place where there are many cars passing by. The sound of cars is quite a bit… I don’t hear the Linimo at all. It is a little bit noisy but quiet. It became dark a lot, but we are going to the last stop, Fujigaoka.

Only Fujigaoka station is an underground station. This place looks like an attraction. The quietness is overwhelming in the subway history. I get off the train. Ghibli is here, too. And this station is very pointy. We are now on the ground.

Strange thing about this station is that the Linimo station is underground and the subway station is above ground. The subway is running at the back of the picture. So, how was it? If you have any comments or questions about Linimo, please comment. Thank you very much!

  1. I highly doubt that you will see this anywhere else any time soon. Regular rolling stock is reliable, cheaper, and easier to maintain; also, having a driver means there is someone there to immediately reach in an incident.
