[Applause] [Applause] [Applause] After arriving in Koto station we took the bus to the hotel to drop off our luggage before catching the train to Fushimi Inari Station the streets here were quite busy however the Fushimi Inari Shrine is open 24 hours so I recommend arriving early in the Morning the shrine was opened in 711 and is dedicated to the Shinto God of rice around the shrine you’ll find many Fox statues as they are thought to be inari’s Messengers The Shrine is most famous for its Tory Gates and bamboo forests Soy so we just come off the path a little bit here it says 50 m there’s something at the top We just went to a little local uh 7-Eleven to grab some ice cream and a bottle of water and there’s a really cute old lady old Japanese lady in there that let us go ahead of her in the queue and she’s like asked us if we were

American said no I’m English and then she told me that I was beautiful and then asked how old we were she very very sweet wasn’t she the people here seem so friendly so far um it’s very quaint We arrived back into Central Kyoto to check into our hotel for the night so we’ve just arrived in Kyoto we are here for two nights but we’re staying in two different hotels the first hotel was cheaper than the second Hotel so I can’t remember how much money

This is I will put it on the screen or get me to tell um this is a smaller room and it’s very close to our second Hotel so I’ll show you this one and then I’ll show you the second Hotel so you can compare the two different ones on a different budget

Hello we have a nice bed this one is bigger than our bed yesterday in Nya the kimono pajamas a little rest area oh Dyson hair dryer nice and then a nice window with some views of the city bathroom is much more modern than our one yesterday in Nya decent sized tub shampoos

Conditioners same with this one we got our amenities downstairs including some bath salts and of course the b day from our hotel it was a short walk to Niki Market the Shiki Market is a shopping street more than five blocks long lined with specialist shops and restaurants it’s often referred to as Kyoto’s kitchen so of course we had to eat There we went to katsukura shiju teramachi and authentic Japanese pork chop restaurant the food was delicious I highly recommend eating here so now we need to grind Sesame now what are you doing grinding the Sesame to make for our sauce for our premium cutl stuff pork and we also

Got now we need to make first I’m try and see I don’t you can’t tell how big that is has really big hands As SC from Niki Market we walked to the narrow alleys of Ponto Cho running from Sho to sanjo Dory the tiny restaurants were so Beautiful So me and I have done so much walking today um like 30,000 steps and we woke up really early and there’s an hour’s time difference so at the moment it’s like 700 p.m. China time which is 8:00 p.m. time here and we we were going to

Go find a bar have something to drink and then head back but we decided to call it quits and we went to 7-Eleven to to get some more snacks um and the one that we settled for it’s this one which I think or I’m hoping is like caramelized

Mulchi but I think it’s still quite liquidy so maybe not what I was thinking let’s see oh yeah it does not smell sweet at all I think it’s like syrup I don’t know what that is but me will be having the rest of that oh it’s very much like um like

Tre but burnt trle no good let’s try again Tomorrow We woke to a rainy day so headed across the road to Len for Breakfast not only is len a cafe but also a popular hostel for Western Backpackers For Not deterred by the rain we walked to K misua and the hi shiama District the small streets are a perfect place to get lost in On the walk to the temple we strolled along the old streets of sun and zaka Pa a hill lined with souvenir shops and traditional Japanese Architecture [Applause] Codura was founded in 780 a on the site of the otoa waterfall in the wooded Hills of East Kyoto its name derives from the pure water of the waterfall This area has the city’s best preserved historic districts and is a wonderful place to experience traditional Koto with the narrow Lanes wooden buildings and Merchant shops invoke a feeling of the old capital city nearby is the famous gisha District of gon in this area it is forbidden to

Take photos but it’s worth a visit if you are in the area A short walk away you can find ya zaka Shrine opened in 656 Ad after walking around all morning we’d worked up quite an appetite we went to the highly recommended Omen Udo noodle restaurant it was very peaceful inside and the noodles were Incredible After lunch the rain has started to fall more heavily but the sound of rain added a new di menion to this beautiful City we decided to explore some more local streets and eventually decided to seek shelter in a three horses Cafe I know I shouldn’t be in love but it’s so hard to move on you haven’t changed you stayed the same but if you did I’d still love you Anyway with the rain getting heavier by the minute and the hours of daylight remaining shortening we put our coats back on and headed into the downpour to see their hayen shrine It’s so raining this Temple was constructed in 1895 as a celebration of Kyoto’s 1,100th birthday this Shrine has some beautiful gardens but we’ll save that for for a less rainy Day so we have just arrived at our second Hotel it’s very fancy um so let me just show you first we have the traditional floor so I’ve taken my shoes off let’s see what’s in here it’s that bathroom I don’t know where any of the lights are anywhere this is our bed area

Desk TV very peaceful and this one is the bathroom so the lady here said that they provide kimonos to wear anywhere around the hotel and outside of the hotel and pajamas to wear inside there are also Hot Springs but they are naked hot springs um yes

I’m on my way to the naked hot spring and I’m quite scared because we’ve eaten so much and I’m nice and fat now and I’m scared to be naked in front of strangers the traditional onome was breathtaking and as the only one in the hot springs and stunning views of Kyoto it was

Certainly a highlight of the trip be aware if you are visiting an onson in Japan you may need to cover up any tattoos For dinner we headed back to Pon too to try one of the most famous foods of this region of Japan wagu beef at herob Beef Kyoto the staff did a wonderful job of presenting each cut of meat and recommending which sauces to try with each cut this one with the

Sauce these two no sauce lemon sauce and oven with any sauce that we choose No bigger than my face it’s much bigger than my face H with full bellies we walked back to the hotel to enjoy the nighttime views on the Terrace part of the deal with the hotel is that we get complimentary drinks on arrival which is usually served in this bar but since it’s winter the bar is closed however we can still come out

Onto the balcony enjoy the views and the hot foot bath um yeah There is supposed to be a really beautiful sunrise from this side um of the hotel however it’s another rainy cloudy day so I don’t think we will see anything but I give myself an A+ for effort that I got up early enough by myself to try and watch the sunrise Day
