Hey nice to meet you to I am Lena what are your names Tammy Tammy and Gary and where are you two from Califoria California California okay okay very nice is it your first time in Japan my first time your first time no my I’ve been here many times for work yes okay

Do you want to tell us what you do here when you work come for work in Japan or is it a secret no just I’m in the IT industry okay do you usually come to Tokyo when you come here for work or uh yes okay have you seen other parts of

Japan yes I’ve seen Osaka and Kyoto um Nano yeah other parts Yokohama Yokohama okay yeah and what are your plans for this trip um just really exploring Tokyo just Tokyo right now yeah we’re just doing Tokyo this trip how many days are you going to be here we actually leave

Tomorrow we’ve been here only for 3 Days 3 days and then another day and then you’re already going back yes are there direct flights between here and California yes there are yes oh that’s nice how many hours that um it was 9 hours and 40 minutes here that’s okay

That’s not too bad I guess in that case you can do five five days and then go back and it’s not too bad um did you have any jet leg a little bit a little bit was okay it’s hard to know if it’s jet leg or hired from sleep too much walking everything

Exactly okay so what have you been doing the last couple of days here um what have we done we’ve done a lot we did the zoo I did the zoo we broke broke off separate he had some work so I did the zoo I did um we went to Cog we went

To um the Tokyo Tower we went out to dinner I lots of things yeah what was your favorite experience oh that’s a good question um I think I’m still taking it all in okay trying to figure it out okay H you went out to oh what was your favorite

Experience I I I love the food and just the the people and the energy here right as you walk through the train stations it seems like everybody’s always so happy really and uh and on a mission to you know go and it’s just very it’s like

Organized chaos so I love it it’s very organized and yes it’s also like a lot of people here definitely but I don’t feel like people in Tokyo are particularly happy really well last night maybe it’s was because they were coming back from dinner and drinking but

They were they were very happy they were very happy definitely that’s true okay you said you went out to dinner what did you eat uh kind of classic Japanese sushi like lot of uh fish shashimi um tempera um but yeah and you know then this morning we went to the fish market

Um at 4:30 a.m. which was a lot of fun you did the tuna auction yeah we did the tuna auction how was that it was it was great it was fa it was fabulous so glad we did it very unique something you wouldn’t normally do right yeah I

Actually never been to the one here in Tokyo like even before they moved it but I just heard that now at the new fish market it’s all very like sterile feels like it’s yeah it’s very businesslike right but still it was worth it and it was very interesting and then going to

The old uh we went over to the old fish market and then uh partook in you know food and just all the little different uh eateries and stuff that was ongoing which was a lot of fun there is very good it’s excellent yeah I like the atmosphere of the old market so much

More than the new one but since you can’t see the tuna auction anymore there because they’re not doing it I guess just going to the new one and then the old one is a good compromise have you picked up any Japanese since you’ve been coming here so much any Japanese you

Remember very good that’s the most important hey nice okay so you leaving the Japanese to him or did you pick up yeah pretty much pretty much yeah it’s always nice to have someone who already already knows their way around and everything yeah exactly have you been using the public transport or are you

Moving by taxi or yeah both but most of the public transport okay because you already know how everything works so I wouldn’t say that I’d say it’s it’s a a discovery every time I’m here but um it’s I enjoy it I like the adventure of it okay even getting on the wrong train

Or the wrong line like shya station is so confusing I learned today not just the different systems but we ended up giving her a day pass and it was on the wrong Subway that didn’t go back to where we needed to so we had to struggle through that but yes that’s what

Happened yeah it’s a little bit confusing how do you like the toilets here in Japan maybe for you first time Japanese toilets um you know it’s funny we actually have a toilet like that at our house what look the Californian people who have Japanese toilets yeah we have doesn’t open automatically for you

So the seat is warm it makes sounds okay it’s nice so it wasn’t a big shot yeah if you’re already used to it from home then that must be nice because all the toilets here are like that right even on the train station like oh my God

Yes do you have any kind of favorite Japanese food I know we’re going from toilets to food I’m sorry um I I I just I love the Sashimi I yeah here you just what’s your favorite fish of Sashimi tuna I think yeah especially the belly right Toro is my favorite okay

Tor how about you um I we had Ramen this morning it was really good yeah that was really good yeah I like too especially with the cold temperatures it’s nice to have noodle soup yeah to just warm up it was very good um do you already have

Some souvenirs for home or are you still planning on buying some we still need to do a little bit of shopping but yeah we a few things here and there you know um do you already know what you want to get or is there something you always buy

When you come here I always bring back a little bit of a centu uh like a bottle of centu whiskey of course right okay but they’re getting more and more expensive yes they’re a lot more expensive than they were 10 years ago that’s for sure definitely what’s your

Impression of Japanese people and I feel like especially for you since I assume you work with Japanese people what’s your honest impression no I think um you know very respectful um polite um determined deterministic um you know when they want they need to get something done they

Figure out how to get it done um yeah no I I very much enjoy the culture and the the people here oh really yeah no problems with like some kind of different work culture ethic no not at all not at all that’s nice have you had any interactions with Japanese people

Yeah I had a guide one day and um just different interactions at the places I’ve gone and everybody’s been super friendly and very accomodating yeah very accommodating okay that’s true did you have any kind of culture shock I haven’t I know I don’t think I

Have no I think the the bay I mean obviously it’s very different here but um Bay Area where we live live in California is very diverse okay um so it’s you know to me it’s like the world just gets smaller and smaller every year right and more Universe uh homogeneous

Almost in many aspects because you get to know the different cultures right we like to travel so I think we’re used to experiencing different cultures yeah and just be open to it absolutely want to learn most important thing about it I think yes yeah definitely thing did you

Struggle with anything here in Japan struggle umul um no not really I don’t I I mean I think it’s just um figuring out which train station is the best entrance and exit right and you get out and you thought you picked the right one and

It’s like nope this wasn’t it um so you know that’s probably just the the traversing of things is a little confusing that’s true thank you so much for your time it was a lot of fun thank you thank you so you speak FL Japanese I do I’m from Germany I didn’t say I’m

Sorry so you’re trilingual or do you know more than three yeah three solid yeah three three solid is enough um I came for work and I stayed for love so I struggled a lot when I came first here in 2015 I I used to work for an IT consulting company and everyone was

Japanese and very in the beginning but yeah my name is Lena nice to meet you what’s your name my name is Maria nice to meet you too and where are you from Maria Spain from Spain is it your first time here in Japan yes first time yes

And how long have you been here uh 16 days 16 already Yes and how long will you be here uh 5 days another five days that’s very long yes we uh we visit takayama mhm uh Osaka M shiraka MH kathawa Tokyo and now we will go

To Kyoto Kyoto okay what has been your favorite experience so far uh Team lab yeah I love team lab so nice yes it’s very beautiful and do you like Japanese food yes yes kind Ramen Ramen your favorite Ramen and now we will try um Kobe coob beef yes okay you haven’t

Tried it yet no you want to try it in Kyoto or here in Tokyo in Kyoto maybe in Kyoto okay it’s very expensive yeah I know what are your plans for Kyoto do you know already oh no okay know and how did you like Tokyo what did you do here

Uh visit the different place um [Laughter] and I don’t know do you like Manga and Anime or no no did you enjoy Akihabara to my boyfriend yes ah okay okay because he likes for me Akihabara not so special no no I don’t I don’t like manga and an I don’t really

Understand yeah um did you uh learn some Japanese no no Japanese at all okay no so so far everything in English was fine yes mhm Eng did you have with the translate Ah you L Google translate Yes okay that’s good did you interact with any Japanese people no also at the hotel

Yes but English yeah what’s your impression of Japanese people oh I don’t know uh All the people is uh equal yeah the same face they all look the same yes I I have that problem as well and and is and they are very polite polite yes yes what do you think about the fashion Japanese fion really good yes very different right yes yeah

Did you already buy some souvenirs yes uh uh kimono really for yourself yes H did you buy anything for your family or friends yeah maybe uh some desserts or past oh okay sweets sweets yeah very nice the Japanese sweets are very good I like them too what was your favorite

Place in Japan so takayama or maybe kazawa or uh for now Tokyo really yes not too prowed no no you like it prowed yes where in Spain are you from mayorca May Island yes yes yes my friend here in Japan she’s also from mayorca

Yeah is it very cold for you no no no it’s okay you yeah I don’t like cold no it’s fine yes yeah okay okay why did you decide to come to Japan oh it’s his decide okay he wanted to come okay do you know why he wanted to come to

Japan why why Japan why not Korea or because it’s different okay yes we we visit uh Mexico thailandia valali and all is the same ja and Japan is different different very different yes okay so you wanted to see a different country culture very different yes yes very different did you like the Japanese

Food before coming to Japan uh yes did you do you have Japanese restaurants in mayor yes lot yes is it very different yes um which one do you like better original or the one from mayorca the food here okay yeah um did you have any problems here in Japan no no no

Everything TR no okay that’s good culture shock a lot of trains a lot of trains yes yes yes very crowded trains and very like many um trans uh big stations and so many lines and walk a lot yeah but you got used to that very easily was it

Not too difficult no that’s good in Madrid Barcelona is the same yeah the big cities yes how about the toilets in Japan very clean very clean toilets yeah yes yeah that’s the best thing about the Japanese toilets and free yes you don’t have to pay in in Europe that often you

Have to pay a little bit of money right in some place you last question okay H when Japanese people want to come to mayorca yes do you have any tips for them what they should know before going or what they should be careful uh yes the first one

Rent a car okay it’s very important because the transport in mayorca is bad okay really bad yes and The Taste the different food sasada andada I don’t know those fro a lot of food yes F yes is it a lot of seafood on mayorca yes fish yes yes yes

And enjoy the sea and yes okay the beach and yes sounds nice and visit in May April because June July and August M there are too much people ah yes okay that’s a very good really busy busy yes did you try any of the alcohol here in
