Japanese STREET Food Tour of TSUKIJI Market – Tokyo, Japan!

Here’s a walking tour of the vibrant TSUKIJI OUTER Market in 2023! Tokyo’s iconic Tsukiji Market is known to be Japan’s “Food Town,” with the freshest seafood, restaurants offering the best sushi, Wagyu beef, desserts, coffee, & unique shops with kitchen items, showcasing all the good stuff Japan has to offer! My mission was to discover the secrets of Tsukiji before closing time (around 2 pm), to uncover hidden gems and learn to navigate the market like a pro.

Originally Tsukiji Market catered mainly to professionals. But later on, it expanded to have an Outer Market, perfect for foodies to sample mouthwatering street food. As we navigate the Tsukiji Market, you’ll witness the lively atmosphere, where vendors showcase an array of exotic fish and seafood. From gigantic tunas to rare delicacies, the market is a haven for seafood enthusiasts and curious foodies alike. I was even able to shop around for kitchen items for a great deal!

For me, this was really a Japanese food tour like no other. If you’re wondering if Tsukiji is worth visiting, it’s a resounding “Yes!” Especially, if it’s your first time in Japan. So, plan your Tokyo trip around the market, so you don’t miss out on the opportunity to taste the best sushi in Japan and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Tsukiji!

We are in one of the most popular  most famous markets in Tokyo – Tsukiji market right I think the market has started how about we go all around first wow I was really scared that the  Market has closed it’s around 1:30 p.m.

So they say they’re going to close the market  around 2:00 and I thought it’s going to be   pretty dead every Merchant is closing their  doors in my face but turns out there’s still   a lot of Life a lot of uh big crowds so I  I’m happy if you are wondering if Tsukiji like

Uh closes really early and if you can’t  make it don’t be, at 1:30 this is how it looks people are enjoying Sushi Sashimi what is this? seems to be a  very popular one oh do they have Ramen   oo this looks good oh that looks good  oh my God there’s a huge line though

Oh I’m going to stand in line just in case [sizzling, clanking] I was really scared that I’m not going  to make it so you know when you were in Japan   you fall in love with all this delicious like  markets so after Kyoto and Osaka I just couldn’t

Resist going yet to another market and of course  Tsukiji is one of the most popular most famous and   iconic markets uh Tsukiji Market is located near  the Chuo city which is near um uh Tokyo Station

Which is pretty Central this looks like the best  seat in this place yes I think they make just one   dish, rice topped, I would say with beef  and eggs oh that looks good so here we have a

Beef bowl for 800 Yen, Motsuni Bowl organ meat Bowl  oh I’m so excited for this one and then you get   to choose two different eggs hi konichiwa, um “Ich, ich”, two  uh and two eggs two eggs uh and two teas oh yeah 1900 thank you thank

You oh my God oh my God I can  just look and be feeling happy oh yes oh that’s wonderful here we got freaking the most delicious  bows I feel like this one is the beef bowl really

Like beef like steamed and stewed for hours so  tender it’s like I don’t really need teeth for   this and a softboiled egg on top on the bed  of rice and a lot of like onions so yes this

Is the uh meat Bowl right here uh I want to  start with this one and then graduate towards   the organ meat Bowl because that’s that’s  the one that I’m ultimately excited for oh look at this mmmmm the egg is oozing  throughout the beef I’m just going to mix it a

Lot I am starving I didn’t have any  breakfast I barely drank water today   so, I always put a lot  on my spoon although I can’t handle it ok, cheers! mmmmm and then it vanished it is so  tender so tender no idea like I

Barely had to bite three times and and it just disappeared even the rice is not dry it’s  so deliciously like like every rice has   its own life here like it’s not like they  just steamed rice and put it there I think

For sure there is that also very subtle  mechanism going on for making the rice here okay uh let’s cleanse my palette with some tea oh yes all right ready wow  what do we have here we have all   sorts of like delicious organ meat I really  don’t understand people who don’t eat organ

Meat oh okay I think it’s even more Saucier  than the previous one wow like look at this mmm isn’t this just happiness in a  bowl right okay okay let’s put some onions i feel like there’s like tendons  liver or heart I don’t know so many things

Going on you’re like what which  one which meat I’m eating right now so Saucy and the soft boiled egg  even just made it like double the sauce oh look at this fatty one it’s  right by the road it’s on the outer

Side of the market but yes thank you  so much it was amazing all right let’s go what is here? it’s a huge line over here ah it’s like rice sandwiches all right  right Japanese A5 Wagyu steak, crab, okay let so we going Oishi, desi! Oishi, oh I’ll come back thank you

All right all right oh my  God even ice cream sounds good   I will eat anything I am going to pig out today what is that ah all sorts of  rice cakes or not what is it   oh I think it’s the omelettes ah cold  Japanese omelette ooh okay let’s keep

On walking here are stores vegetables  uh pickled cucumbers teas dried fruits crab now I’m craving Sushi doesn’t this guy look  like Mao Tsedong? right like I don’t know but I think   he’s the founder for Sushizanmai, okay  a lot of foreigners of course like me, sea urchin

Oysters definitely the prices are higher than in  Kyoto’s Market than Nishiki but much more options   for sushi and sashimi uh Kyoto and Osaka have like  steak, Kobe, Wagyu more oh actually I found Wagyu again hi, ni, two please, yeah, ok, 300, arigato gozaimasu, look how they make Tamagos here

Oh, Tamagoyaki, here we go this is like soooo like soft   looks like bread with like air inside  mmm oh my God I love eggs for breakfast oh it’s sweet mmm wow oh my God I know this is  perfect for people who don’t like sweets but

They like like eggs you know this is perfect  for them this is like has this sweet subtle   taste that’s almost like caramel but it’s  not overly sweet uh japanese just know how to   like have like subtle hints of like you know  flavors mmm yum I could down 10 of these in one

Sitting so good even trash is being recycled at  the market you know the market tends to be very   like crowded and trash is just you know thrown  out carelessly but you actually put the forks   separately and then the plates separately it’s  pretty cool it’s pretty amazing that there’s a

Lot of thought goes into this process so you see a lot of choices for all different   prices and the master goes to the market every  morning so it’s really good lot of local people   where’s the restaurant uh this restaurant  is I have to get outside no just like

You see the yellow Banner oh downstairs oh  that’s why we did it because like a lot of   restaurants are upstairs down oh I see I  see okay down good to know and it’s called Keshkeshup okay gotcha thank you so much thank you we’ll  come back later thank you all right it’s a mix

French girl working in Japan oh this is such a cute souvenir ooh what is this place 1500 Yen, grilled fish all right I’ll come back thank you I always say, ooooh sake okay I got to keep up my pace otherwise  I’ll miss out on a lot of food ah I wish I

Woke up earlier I think the edge of the  market is all like pastries desserts and   sweets so I think we got to go inside  maybe take the next street oo this looks fire 680, 930 4,000 4,000 is around what  $30 something $30 $40 here we have this

Mix and there we have full of sea urchin bowl for 12,000 okay oh Paolo from Tokyo oh that’s right hey   he has a hot sauce I guess so of  course he’s like there’s a market (for that)! oh these like narrow alleys might  lead us to amazing food it’s so quiet here

[talking in japanese] arigato gozaimasu, right we got the sea salted sea  squirt guts! no idea how it’s going to taste wow here we have our set and omakase menu  prepared by the chef just now and it’s a

Chef’s selection okay I am so excited I  don’t even know where to start we have I   think let me see what we got here here so we  have nine pieces set uh selected by the chef   it has salmon row bowl and edomai style egg  omelette this is the egg omelette um salmon

Roe bowl uh we have fatty tuna fatty tuna  medium fatty tuna red flesh of tuna squid   seasonal white fish shrimp sea urchin tuna  and scallop I’m going to start with the Salmon roe bowl mmmm mmmm shinkansen, I know I know what that means oh this is

Caviar look it almost looks like  it has eyes in it, u know, they’re like   really deep orange dots salmon roe guys  this is delicious it’s a little bit salty and oh love how it bursts in my mouth mmm wow this is so good

I wouldn’t say I’m such a fan of sushi  I just feel like as as a person I tend   to like be attracted by like warm meat  like steak barbecue you know stewed meat but   wow this Sushi is giving me like I’m  missing out maybe I just had to come

To Japan and experience this I am feeling  very very overwhelmed by happiness, overjoyed wow all right here’s the chef selection for white fish this is a lot chewier has a lot of resistance a lot chewier there’s not a lot of   crazy flavors going on it almost reminds me of the

Puffer fish you know but it’s just very  lean white meat I’ll go for medium fatty tuna look at this oh my God all right I’m going to go for the omelet I cut it in half edomai style egg

Omelette this reminds me of the egg Tamagoyaki  I just ate now before this it’s also sweet   caramelized flavor also has like this air  bubbles inside so it’s like a nice sponge   cake it’s like like Tres Leches is like steeped in milk  and this one has that like as if it’s steeped in caramel

Hai, arigato! doma arigato gozaimasu! all right if you’re wondering if Tsukiji  market closes early at 2:00 p.m. yes around 2 is actually not too bad but now it’s 3:00 p.m.  and you can see a lot of store owners are just

Cleaning up washing the floors and taking away  all the merch like here like 30 minutes ago   it was bustling crowded but not anymore uuurgh okay I  found it Matcha latte, let’s go, got my Matcha latte! mhm
