Convenient moving sidewalks
Nozawa Onsen Village is located in northern Nagano Prefecture. A spot we passed by when we strolled around is Yu Road, a moving walkway located on a hill high above the hot spring resort area.
Yu Road is 288 meters long, takes about 10 minutes, and runs free of charge between Nozawa Onsen Town and the ski slopes. It used to operate only during the ski season, but now operates for limited periods during other seasons as well.
It opened in 1994 and was the first outdoor moving walkway to appear in Japan.
