Day 1 Itinerary: Togakushi Shrine and Nagano City

How to Get There

To reach Togakushi Shrine from Nagano City, take bus number 70 from Nagano Station towards Togakushi. During the winter season, please note that the bus doesn’t go directly to the entrance of the shrine. Instead, you’ll need to alight at Togakushi Chusa station and walk for about an hour to reach the main shrine.

Alternatively, you can get a Zenkoji & Togakushi 1-Day Ticket for 3000 yen. This ticket lets you ride the bus unlimited times between Nagano Station, Zenkoji, and Togakushi for one day and offers discounts at certain local shops. You can buy it at the Alpico Bus ticket office by Nagano Station.

These buses don’t have reserved seats, so buy your ticket on the day of travel. If you board at a stop without a ticket counter, you can buy your ticket directly on the bus.
