Tips for enjoying teamLab Borderless and introducing 4 other teamLab facilities! Hi, I’m Samurai Junjiro, born and raised in Japan.  This video is about the newly opened teamLab Borderless.  We’ll share tips and points to note for enjoying it.  We’ll also introduce other upcoming teamLab facilities, so please watch until the end!  Now, let’s get started!

First up, we’re introducing teamLab Borderless, which opened on February 9th, 2024. The nearest station is Kamiyacho Station. It takes about 10 minutes by train from Tokyo Station and about 20 minutes from Shibuya Station. The closest exit is Exit 5. When you exit the ticket gate,  you’ll see the entrance of Azabudai Hills

Where teamLab Borderless is located right in front of you. Azabudai Hills is a spacious complex like a city and was opened on November 24, 2023. It’s very spacious, so be careful not to get lost. The teamLab is located on the basement 1 of Garden Plaza B. It’s recommended to buy tickets on the official website.

If you buy tickets through other websites, you won’t be able to change the date and time. But if you buy through the official website, you can change the date and time up to 3 times. The ticket prices vary depending on the day, ranging from 3,800 yen to 4,800 yen.

When you purchase tickets, you’ll receive an email with a URL. Even if you purchase tickets for multiple people, you can enter with a single QR code at the same time. You show it to the staff at the entrance. There are lockers available near the entrance for free, where you can leave baggage.

Strollers and suitcases can be left in this area. We’ll share some points to note. It’s warm inside the facility, so it’s better to leave down jackets  or thick clothes in the lockers. There are some areas with mirrored floors. It’s recommended to wear pants because skirts might show underwear.

You can take photos and videos. But you can’t use selfie sticks and tripods,  so it’s better to leave them in the lockers. It’s recommended to bring your wallet because there are paid sections within the facility. Once you have left your baggage in the lockers,  download the teamLab app on your smartphone.

When you have the app, you can enjoy the art even more. Tap the QR code at the entrance gate to enter. Alright, while viewing the artworks, we’ll share some tips for enjoying and things to note. First, we’ll explain the differences between teamLab Planets in Toyosu.

To see artworks in teamLab Planets, it takes about 1 hour and a half to 2 hours. On the other hand, teamLab Borderless changes its artworks depending on the time and location, so it takes about 3 hours to see everything. Both places have no time limit, but you can’t re-enter.

At Planets, you need to be barefoot, but at Borderless you can enjoy while wearing your shoes. It’s okay to keep your stockings on. Planets is a one-way route, but at Borderless, you can freely explore the areas. The temperature and aroma of the rooms  change depending on the time and location.

By the way, there are no maps. The facility is spacious, so be careful not to get lost, especially if you’re with small children. You can write illustrations or text on paper with a fish drawing and project them onto the wall. The drawn illustrations can be made into T-shirts or tin badges.

There are places with a limit on the number of people allowed to enter. Depending on the crowd, you may have to wait for about 10 minutes to enter. Inside the facility, there are areas where it’s dark, so watch your step. It’s better to wear comfortable shoes like sneakers.

Next, we’ll introduce the facilities inside the venue. Inside, there are restrooms available. There are also seating areas, so you can enjoy the art for a long time while taking breaks. There are vending machines for drinks,  but they only sell cold water. There is also a free water dispenser available.

There is an EN TEA HOUSE where you can enjoy tea and art. The drinks are not free. When using this place, you need to order one drink per person. You can pay not only in cash but also with credit cards or Suica cards.

The day we went, it took about 35 minutes after paying until we were seated and tea was served. We highly recommend the matcha ice cream and tea set.  You can enjoy fantastic and special art that you can only see here, so it’s worth trying!

At Azabudai Hills, where teamLab Borderless is located, there are other recommended places, so let’s briefly introduce 3 of them. First up is SHOGUN BURGER. It’s a specialty shop for Wagyu hamburgers with 14 stores across Japan. The burger with avocado and cheese is juicy and delicious, so you should try it!

Next up is ÉCHIRÉ L’ATELIER DU BEURRE. The croissants made with French fermented butter are crispy and have a pleasant aroma. The next shop is ARABICA Tokyo. It’s a rare shop with only 2 stores in Japan, one in Kyoto and this one.

Please try their café latte made with espresso extracted from special machines. At Azabudai Hills, there are many other great places besides teamLab Borderless, so it’s recommended to plan for about half a day for your visit. Now, let’s introduce other teamLab places across Japan. First, let’s start with the teamLab in Osaka.

There are various teamLab artworks in the night botanical garden. It’s located about 40 minutes by train from Shin-Osaka Station, where the Shinkansen stops. The ticket is 1,800 yen for adults. The entrance hours vary depending on the season, but it’s typically after 6 PM.

The next one is teamLab in Okinawa,  which opened in December 2023. This is a spot where your drawings become part of the artwork, and you can enjoy interactive art. It’s a place where kids can also have lots of fun playing. The ticket is 2,000 yen for adults.

Next up is teamLab Restaurant in Ginza  called MoonFlower Sagaya Ginza. At this restaurant, you can enjoy Saga beef, a premium type of Wagyu, along with artworks by teamLab. It’s reservation-only, and prices starting from 38,500 yen per person.

The link to the official website is in the description box, so if you’re interested, please check it out. Lastly, we’ll introduce teamLab in Kyoto, which will open in the future. It’s planned to open about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. Construction started in May 2023, and the building will complete in October 2024.

The opening date and the artworks to be exhibited have not been announced yet. Once the details are announced, we’ll introduce them again, so please subscribe to this channel and stay tuned! If you have any places you’d like to visit or any information you’d like to know about traveling in Japan,

Please let us know in the comments! Well, that’s it for today! See you in the next video!
