When I told my Japanese friends I was going to Kagoshima, many are like “why?”. Haha. Come find out with me what there is to see and eat in this seaside city on Japan’s Kyushu Island, including eating the famous black pig and feeling like a pig in a luau with a volcanic sand bath.

Hey this is Andrew limb inviting you to go out on the limb hello from kagoshima Japan so located on Japan’s kushu island kagoshima is a Seaside City best known for its active volcano known as Sakura gima so let’s explore what there is to do here but before we do that kindly hit

One so home to about 600,000 Japanese the downtown of kagoshima is very quiet and tranquil the Night comes to life uh however with sem my covered streets that you can see in cities as far north as saporo or as far south as Okinawa so these streets are filled with restaurants bars and

Pharmacies if you want to enjoy nature shangan is the place to go so a UNESCO world heritage site this popular Japanese garden is forly a residence built by shimatsu mitsuha back in 1658 now it’s a beautiful garden that offers a vast array of flowers uh to

Admire as well as Fall Foliage even as late as the end of November uh also it has a spectacular view of Sakura Jima if you drive South and uh about an hour of driving you actually come to a little town called ibusuki so in this tranquil setting it’s all about the volcanic sand

Bath hey guys so we have just arrived in ibusuki this place is actually known for the natural sand bath so I’m going to actually go check it out I’m not sure if uh camera is allowed in there probably not but super excited cuz uh I haven’t done this like natural sand bath before

Supposedly they cover you in sand and it’s therapeutic not much English is actually used in shusan bath Hall uh which can be a tad challenging for non Japanese speakers to visit but just bring along no worry not just bring along uh your iPhone with Google translate and a great

Uh you know iPhone or or cell phone package and you’ll be able to navigate easily so who can resist this cute little mascot greeting bathers upon entry I sure couldn’t so if you can’t decide whether to visit the beach or the hot springs Syracuse s bath Hall will definitely

Help resolve that dilemma by providing both hey guys so I just finished the hot sand bath in ibusuki I’m fortunately camera is not allowed but you know behind me that tent was where uh it was conducted so literally you just you know go down and lay down and they actually

Just bury you with this volcanic sand it’s really hot so at some point I felt like a luow but the pig in the luow but uh it’s really relaxing so you just stay in for 20 minutes to start sweating uh and then you come out you feel really

Relaxed uh and the Skin’s really smooth so if you’re ever here in ibusuki which is about an hour and a half drive from kagoshima you definitely have to try this uh hot sand bath here now after relaxing bath it’s time to drive back to kagoshima and eat some

Food so located next to sabon Ramen which is a popular Ramen spot here in kagoshima uh Kamura saki located here in AMU Plaza is a ramen shop that has been around since 1950 and serves up a delicious bowl of ramen that’s top with rose pork and Chinese cabbage so unlike the tonkotsu

Ramen in fukoka that is super rich uh the soup in this Ramen is a bit lighter but does not lack the richness of pork as well as chicken taste oi now aside from Ramen the one thing you must try when you’re hearing kagoshima uh is it’s kurobuta which is

The Japanese name for black pig now this is one of the spots to try in kagoshima now upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with plates and plates of this heavenly bookshelf pork kuraa pork is a crisps firm tender as well as juicy at the same time it’s

Delicious now it’s best to actually enjoy Shabu Shabu style or for Less healthier version but equally tasty uh go for the tonat suo style it’s so delicious now what made my trip memorable in kagoshima is my stay at the new Sheron here in town now keep in mind

That Marriott did not pay me to endorse their property here but it’s definitely worth a mention uh the hotel offers a spectacular view of Sakura gima with uh impressive dining Halls uh relaxing onset beautiful and spacious suets that offer an amazing view of Sakura gima consider staying here when you visit the
