Previously on WeWanderlustCo on our third day weĀ took the bullet train to Osaka where we checkedĀ Ā into our cozy Airbnb explored the neighborhoodĀ and walked into our first pachinko slot experienceĀ Ā and found our favorite snack today we head toĀ Kyoto to experience the most beautiful autumnĀ Ā
Leaves in arashiyama where the scene felt like itĀ was straight out of a movie autumn breeze AutumnĀ Ā Leaves romance in the air dreamy to say the leastĀ oh and thereās a special person weād like you to meet [Train announcement in Japanese]
Morning guys hi guys we are in Kyoto yeahĀ specifically Arashiyama and today we will be takingĀ Ā a tour of this beautifully scenic place andĀ engaging in some momjigari (fall leaves viewing) yes right now kind ofĀ Ā exploring the grounds of Kyoto super nice allĀ the leaves are all turning red the mapleĀ Ā
Leaf trees but yeah weāre going to be visitingĀ the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and then making our way downĀ Ā over to the Katsura River supposedly the river bankĀ has all these red maple leaves kind of liningĀ Ā up the river and they have some Gingko trees yesĀ weāll take you guys letās go enjoy Weāre passing by this super cute CafeĀ itās called the Rickshaw Cafe and I canāt helpĀ Ā but look at their mascot itās suchĀ a cute figurine with like a beanie and a nice cute warm coat or whatever warmĀ cape itās super cute and they have likeĀ Ā
Some really delicious like toast andĀ see a really nice chocolate cake butĀ Ā we just got here so weāre going to goĀ explore first and maybe weāll come here later Thereās so many beautiful ladiesĀ in kimonos and I think you can rent kimonosĀ while youāre here and 4500 for a whole day not aĀ bad deal they have beautiful kimono rentals hereĀ Ā Iāve seen a couple ladies to walk out theyĀ look so pretty Iām sure they have soĀ Ā
Many beautiful colors and designs in thereĀ but yeah todayās not my day looks so pretty though We have everyone here from toddlers to newbornsĀ to grandparents to like really elderly people justĀ Ā enjoying all the leaves or picking up leavesĀ or enjoying the scenery itās really nice andĀ Ā then we have tourists [laughter] guys so weāre here at theĀ Nanhou Buddhist temple yeah the whole place isĀ Ā
Surrounded by these fall trees which turnĀ this nice hue of like reddish and orangeĀ Ā looks amazing in person got a nice amount ofĀ crowds coming out today coming here for theĀ Ā viewing so feels uh feels very specialĀ to be part of this
So the actual walk up toĀ the temple like all lined up with all theseĀ trees right yeah itās probably oneĀ Ā of the most scenic paths because itās lined up with soĀ many of these maple trees and itās filled with touristsĀ Ā people come from all around the world for Autumn Leaves viewing and especially in ArashiyamaĀ Ā
Cuz theyāre full of Autumn Leaves and alsoĀ another popular season is sakura season itāsĀ Ā a beautiful area itās surrounded by itāsĀ called storm mountains which is the ArashiĀ Ā Mountains and then the Oi River kind of runsĀ through it just makes the place look so scenicĀ Ā
Yeah itās a world heritage site so you know oohĀ look at those leaves as the light hits it right How about having a bike spot that has such aĀ beautiful tree right next to it itās so nice yeah IādĀ Ā always love coming home parking my bike underĀ such a tree yeah so aesthetic and guys the mountain up there got all the different ranges ofĀ color looks amazing
Looks really nice right yeah all these beautiful maple trees that come aliveĀ during Autumn and itās so nice thereās like trees everywhere can we take it home right can weĀ take it home so weāve passed by the Hogon-in Temple itās a beautiful quaint Buddhist templeĀ with like landscape Japanese garden inside andĀ Ā
They also have like a a nice tea ceremonyĀ that you can pay for but unfortunately youĀ Ā canāt film or take photos in there so we wonātĀ be able to show it to you guys so skip that but yeahĀ Ā
Itās all within walking distance the nextĀ place is the Arashiyama Museum of Arts and CultureĀ Ā arts and culture yeah and itās walkingĀ distance itās literally right nextĀ Ā to it yeah and then like we find that thereāsĀ a apparently a luxury hotel called Suiran rightĀ Ā
In front of the river so yeah so like riverfrontĀ access yeah imagine that yeah not a collaborationĀ Ā but Suiran if youāre watching you know itād beĀ nice I could wake up to these beautiful river viewsĀ Ā that would be nice exactly yeah but yeah soĀ itās all within walking distance and then the starĀ Ā
Of the show I think yes is the river itself withĀ the beautiful boats on it itās nice itās such aĀ Ā beautiful scenery with the backdrop of the ArashiĀ Mountains this is also called Storm Mountain theĀ Ā way that itās so Grand and standing itāsĀ feels like itās a storm about to happen butĀ Ā
Itās so beautiful like you have all the mapleĀ trees and I see some Gingko trees up there tooĀ Ā oh my goodness oh wow okay and then like I thinkĀ Togetsukyo Bridge is on the left the Sagano thereāsĀ Ā
A nice little scenic train that kind of runsĀ through on the other side itās called the Sagano Romantic Train [Train whistles] we were going to do that but then weĀ found out that if you get seated on the wrongĀ Ā
Side you wonāt be able to see the scenery butĀ we thought weād just come here and just enjoyĀ Ā the open wide views that we have here and yeahĀ I would highly recommend just doing that insteadĀ Ā
Just coming here maybe getting on a boat IĀ think itās like uh I see that itās like 1,800Ā Ā for an hour or something 1800 Yen letās take aĀ walk yeah such a beautiful like scene the entire scene is so beautiful I feel like this place hasĀ possibly the most colors rightĀ Ā
Mhm that they weāve seen so far onĀ the road yes yeah yeah this is suchĀ Ā a romantic place I can see like so manyĀ couples young couples at thatĀ Ā Today we made a friend his name is Hiro to us hisĀ uncle Hiro he comes to the *river every morning byĀ Ā himself to enjoy nature and people watch and asĀ the seasons have changed heās watched thousandsĀ Ā
Of tourists come and go over the years by chanceĀ we talked and weāre so grateful to have met andĀ Ā shared a special moment in time with him he alsoĀ carries a vintage film camera that he uses toĀ Ā
Capture moments in time and he was kind enough toĀ capture ours so nice to meet you California? yes yeah? okay heās going to send us the uh yay he took ourĀ photo on a film camera so hopefully we get itĀ Ā in a few months
At this moment we found a lifelongĀ pen pal but who knows we might just make that tripĀ Ā back to Kyoto to see him again so nice this isĀ one of those spots that everyone always comes to You walk down like this really long path andĀ almost towards the end you have these beautifulĀ Ā
Maple trees and you can climb under and kind ofĀ walk right by the river and I think itās just soĀ Ā beautiful and I really wanted I really wanted toĀ come here and walk right down by the river thankĀ Ā
You honey for taking that shot, all good but it has gottenĀ really dark and I donāt know if itās going toĀ Ā start raining I hope not yeah just imagineĀ um it being lit up yeah cuz uh like the sun kindĀ Ā
Of lighting up the water and the leaves wouldĀ have been amazing yeah so nice might have to come backĀ Ā thatās the beauty of travel right you may notĀ get to see it all or experience it all it onlyĀ Ā invites you to come back
All this exploring callsĀ for a little break and we are sitting under theĀ Ā prettiest maple tree full of pretty leaves mapleĀ leaves and like thereās a bed thereās a blanketĀ Ā of maple leaves right on the ground here it looksĀ so nice and we have cookies that we already dugĀ into
We have some chocolate chip cookies we haveĀ calorie mate I kind of sometimes have this forĀ Ā breakfast because itās just fast and weāre onĀ the go and itās a nutritionally balanced blockĀ Ā so you get all your vitamins and nutrients fromĀ here and this Be Kind bar Iām not quite sure likeĀ Ā
Whatās in it itās all in Japanese but it lookedĀ so pretty yeah right look how pretty that looksĀ Ā I feel like it has flower flakes maybe yeah oh yeah IĀ just donāt know what type of flower like I donātĀ Ā
Know if itās like rose petals could be and then we haveĀ our trusted Kirin which has turned from veryĀ Ā hot to almost ice cold yeah letās dig in yeahĀ itās got a nice uh white chocolate base I think
Cute like leaves falling I got blessed with a maple leaf you know what these are rose petalsĀ Ā really thatās incredible what rose petals so IĀ donāt know if the back is like yogurt oh okay like you knowĀ Ā when you have that coating the yogurt coatingĀ with the caramelized almonds and like lotsĀ Ā
Of um rose petals nice you can taste theĀ rose really mhm is it fragrant mhm ahh so good and healthy Cookie We thought we went through a lane of all theĀ beautiful trees then you walk down come upĀ Ā another pathway and itās lined with this beautifulĀ maple trees that are in different shades itās likeĀ Ā green yellow light orange super bright red darkĀ red itās just so mesmerizing itās so nice andĀ its very peaceful
I was tellingĀ Shafeen that it was this spot when I caught herĀ Ā I videoed her taking a photo of I think the three girlsĀ yeah youāre wearing your Japan jacket denim jacketĀ Ā
Yeah and then letās go see the spot we weāre sittingĀ at in 2019 in 2019 during Spring letās do it in FallĀ Ā so nostalgic very weāre just walking like theĀ same steps that we did a few years ago yeahĀ Ā and that was in cherry blossom season and nowĀ this is Autumn
Yeah guys it got really cold with theĀ Ā little drizzle that we got and then uh the sunĀ is not shining through so yeah it looks uh quiteĀ Ā gloomy but I think itās still very romantic itāsĀ that cozy season vibes itās nice and cool andĀ Ā
A lot of the trees that donāt have leaves IĀ guess are actually maybe cherry blossom trees andĀ Ā then the rest are mixed in with Maple and theĀ Gingko trees but wow so yeah the ones that youĀ Ā
See that has nothing oh yeah during cherry blossomĀ itās going to have a whole lot of flowers But I was going to say that it was Shafeenās idea toĀ visit Japan for all four seasons so we have atĀ Ā
Least visited two seasons might be going to aĀ third during winter if we survive [laughter] yeahĀ Ā itās already so cold and chilly during AutumnĀ itself we were wondering what Winter is going toĀ Ā
Look like feel like but yeah it was my dream itāsĀ been a long time dream to spend a year in JapanĀ Ā to be able to experience all the seasons weāveĀ experienced two thankfully and letās hope weāreĀ Ā alive long enough to experience the other two this is where we weāre sitting in 2019Ā Ā
Overlooking all the cherry blossom trees yeah letāsĀ take a seat where history is repeated yeah very nostalgic come along all right Wow wow amazing oh my goodness so guys thatās the Arashiyama Lookout PointĀ thatās the Viewpoint and actually its a super scenicĀ Ā viewpoint you could see the entire storm mountainsĀ so Arashiyama Mountains from there yeah it looks soĀ Ā
Nice oh yeah itās uh nice and breezyĀ I I was going to say uh itās so beautiful you could see you could see the valley from up hereĀ and also sometimes people kind of wait here to seeĀ Ā
The Sagano Romantic Train kind of pass by rightĀ at the bottom and then you can also see thoseĀ Ā boats that you take from one end to the otherĀ end yeah they do also have a temple up top onĀ Ā the left-hand side uh which you could hike to itās such a beautiful templeĀ
I donāt remember seeing it in 2019 like am Iām not sure IĀ donāt know unless it was covered by foliage orĀ Ā something yeah maybe thatās what happenedĀ uh but yeah itās a nice Scenic ViewpointĀ Ā Do recommend coming out to me the Fall FoliageĀ right now looks so much better than how we foundĀ Ā
It for Sakura season yeah yeah itās so colorfulĀ yeah itās because I feel like a lot ofĀ Ā trees make up the forest versus Sakura trees beingĀ only in designated areas right so yeah itās slightly different uh but yeah mix the reds and the orangeĀ and the yellows it looks really nice yeahĀ Ā
I would definitely come here again AgainĀ during fall yeah definitely yeah weāll see howĀ Ā it is in Winter if anything if we do comeout hereĀ again yeah I think weāre going to make our wayĀ Ā down to the Grove to The Grove yeah so the ArashiyamaĀ Grove is the most important part of this wholeĀ Ā
Scenic surroundings because people alwaysĀ come to see The Grove and its super popular withĀ Ā the tourists and then the area that we were inĀ earlier was like the second most popular alongĀ Ā with the bridge but yeah so letās go checkĀ that out hopefully we donāt have a lot of crowds now All right guys we hope you enjoyed walkingĀ with us through the beautiful Bamboo GroveĀ Ā the only thing thatās changed is the foliageĀ so from Sakura Season like all light and bright toĀ Ā now like warm tones of the Fall foliage yeah so thereĀ was this one patch where it was this straightĀ Ā
Orange uh leaves and then as the sun kind ofĀ hit it the entire Grove was glowing orangeĀ Ā because everything is green with the bamboos umĀ but at this one area looks so nice but yeah youĀ Ā
Have your tall bamboo in the GrovesĀ uh amazing as usual yeah uh so yeah kind of walked Ā through that ended up at The Shrine ah yes kindĀ of got to see how they do the prayers and all uhĀ Ā
So they have this wishing yeah youĀ can go just pay your respects pray at The ShrineĀ Ā but then also they have like these you know uhĀ the fortune thing and also like thereās theseĀ Ā
Charms where you can make a wish and put it in aĀ packet and then like kind of leave it there forĀ Ā like could be for good health for fertility forĀ passing your exams for long life or love uh allĀ Ā
That stuff so it it was pretty cool to see peopleĀ doing that and we also even saw a cute little girlĀ Ā like she went and like prayed for a little bitĀ and then her dad was uh watching her how sheĀ Ā
Was doing her prayer it was so nice yeahĀ but yeah uh we came out to the main town areaĀ Ā uh passing by a lot of uh those vendors sellingĀ those sweet potatoes oh yeah yams and Mochi ballsĀ Ā and they have a whole bunch of like souvenirsĀ and restaurants restaurants are even opening upĀ Ā
And the guys on the rickshaws are still hard at it ohĀ my goodness like yeah itās dark already All that strength that they have I feel bad I honestly feel bad for them like you need soĀ Ā
Much strength to take really sometimes really heavyĀ people up and down like the inclines are slightly hilly in some places but thatās something you couldĀ do here if youāre interested in it Thank You so much for coming along with us today we hope youĀ enjoyed the video Yeah and remember guys wherever youĀ go
Donāt forget to wander weāll see you in theĀ next one Sayonara for now Bye Next on WeWandelrustCo Thatās the main crab weāre talking about [laughter[
